I hired Chef Marckende Pierre to do an in-home private chef & cooking lesson combo for my dad's 75th birthday. Chef Pierre created a fusion menu, he arrived early, and he prepared a fantastic meal. Marckende and my dad talked about all the different cooking methods, and my mom (who is a picky eater) said that she loved it. I have never hired a personal chef before. I feel like I stumbled upon a treasure. I would totally hire Chef Pierre again, and I would recommend him to a friend in a heartbeat

Fortunately for us Tony was in the UK the time we were having a celebratory gathering. We decided to hire Tony to allow us a hassle free evening/day of cooking allowing us focus on our guests and entertain them. He listened to what we liked to eat on a day to day basis, what we didn't like and what we wanted to surprise our guests with! He equally came up with some great ideas and recipes of his own. It was all round input in the end. He delivered a great gnocci dish with a superb tomato based sauce accompanying some grilled meats and fresh al dente broccoli with toasted pine nuts. For dessert he did an Italian take on an 'Eton Mess' but instead of strawberries we decided on mangos and pineapples topped off with a limoncello sauce. Wonderful! The evening was topped off with some fabulous Italian coffee, more limoncello (if you dare) and some home made petit fours that were freshly baked and still warm. A great evening Tony. Well done. You were a delight to have over to our house and we are certainly not adverse to outsourcing a chef again. Please let us know when you are next in the UK. We certainly need to be talking about an event in March and my special birthday in May :)

The food was flavorful and healthy. A combination that is hard to come by. Many of the ingredients are straight from her organic garden. Top notch!

Marc's work is nothing less than incredible and delicious! My wife and her guests all loved the Hello Kitty Cake! Personally, I was pretty impressed as well. I've had a couple Hello Kitty theme cakes made in the past but they were nothing like this one. Marc nailed it with the colors, Hello Kitty herself and the grade AAA service! I will definitely be in contact with Amazingly Awesome Cakes in the future for all my professional cake baking needs.

Dude Dog not only can produce really great foods (the smoked hot sauce was incredible) but apparently there are also cooking LESSONS available too! Not to mention voice over work, music for tv and film: I mean, it's like a one-stop-shop. I'm a Vegas local and will be coming back frequently. Highly recommended!

I cannot say enough good things about Davide, this was our first time having a private chef, and Davide far exceeded our expectations! He was incredibly personable, we loved talking with him, and his food was amazing! He was even great with our dogs! :) We will definitely be recommending Davide to anyone looking to hire a chef and will definitely be having him back in our home soon! Looking forward to a cooking lesson!

Thank you Monique! The food was absolutely devine. The ladies from our church conference are still talking about those crab cakes (and that sauce-wow! Ladies were literally licking their plates). We had Monique cater our churches 2-day Womens retreat and conference. The meals we provided included: * snacks for the meet and greet * Dinner, comprised of Crab cakes (with sauce), Cole slaw, and braise apraagus tips. * Desert of Creme an geles' with Chocolate scouffe' *Breakfast, comprised of a breakfast bake, salsa, juice and gourmet coffee. * Lunch, comprised of a sandwich bar, juice, water and soda. The food provided for our conference was sooo good it was almost a distraction. Ladies kept asking - "is it time to eat yet? I can smell the food." I must say that Monique was very professional and looked like the wonderful Chef she turned out to be. All the meals were delivered in a timely manner and Monique brought everything and set everything up herself. Personally I wish she had some help because we wanted her to join us in the conference (maybe next time). We will be using Monique for our next event. We recommend Monique to anyone who is having a catered event. She was great as a person and the food was absolutely stupendious! Her cooking is truely inspired by God and the price was great. We LOVED it!!!!!!! Pastor Twila of Eagle Wings Church, Victorvile, CA P.S. I HIGHLY recommend the Crab cakes and sauce!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
