I had work done by tommy, he did Wood flooring, plastering, painting, some tile work. Came out beautiful couldn't ask for a better professional. He's punctual, very, clean, workmenship is amazing he definitely knows his craft. He's very created on design, I didn't know what direction to go as far as what material to use & he took that stress off my shoulders & gave so many options & ideas, for some reason I just felt safe to total trust him to takeover & give me exactly what I wanted it was like he was in my head, & he sooo did total satisfied. I would recommend him to anybody & hope to work with him again.

Did a great job replacing ceiling tiles, taking down second floor shutters and painting a 2 story window frame. Previous handyman tried to replace the ceiling tiles and called it "hopeless." Olsi replaced them in 30 minutes. Definitely will hire for future jobs.

I went with Empire for a pressure washing of my vinyl home siding. The front had become quite dirty with a lot of mildew. Nick showed up on time and we agreed upon a price which I thought was extremely fair. Everything came out great. My siding looks brand new. My concrete steps which had dulled are back to their o0riginal look. Did not know that would be done but Nick said that's part of the house also. Would definitely get Empire for work again as he also does painting and lawn care. Thanks Nick. Great job.

Dan Martin completed the following work for my home: new roof and gutters, new front porch, installed new front door and windows and completely remodeled 2 bathrooms including tiling the floors, tiling walk-in shower with glass door and tiling tub surround. The bathrooms were original job and he did such a great job, we had and will continue to have him do more work. Dan is meticulous with all his work, very accommodating and the results have been fantastic. I HIGHLY recommend him for any interior or exterior home repairs. And he is very pleasant to everyone!

John helped me with a big rodent infestation, with the removel and clean up. I had him also help me with some construction of remodeling, from sheet rocking, putting hard wood floors down, and painting. Very pleased with the work that he has done for me and would definitely have him do more in the future.

Project: • Complete Bathroom remodel. Gut to studs, remove a small closet partition. Planned Additional: • Install a hot water heater and configure the natural gas plumbing as required • Install a natural gas dryer and configure the natural gas plumbing as required • Hardwired smoke / CO detectors on every floor Unplanned additional: • Structural assessment and installation of a header to carry the weight of free hanging rafters from previous owners remodel. • Upgrading the houses mainline for the plumbing system from ½ to ¾ pipe. (Hot and cold water) Small on the spot fixes FoC • Stuck door repair – fixed several doors that were binding in the house. • Helped remove the dishwasher for servicing • Helped install / repair 2nd bathroom hardware • Helped unload my truck a few times as I was moving stuff over from my apt. Bill and the crew at Freehold Enterprises are nothing short of phenomenal. They have given me a quite high end bathroom for a bargain price, while making sure all the systems and services are safe and up to code. Insured? – Yes, and he had his Insurance Agent email me over proof of insurance within 30mins of it being requested. Courteous?– without fail throughout the entire job. Ethicial and moral?- without a doubt. He is upfront and bluntly honest. He lives the Holmes on Homes motto of “Make it Right” and “Just like I’d do it in my own house.” Communication? – while I was away on vacation in Singapore, he kept me up to date on the projects progress weekly sending me multiple pictures and kept me apprised of any issues. Cleanliness / Concern for the Non work areas – Bill papered and plastic’ed what seems 3/4s of the house in order to avoid any possible scratches to the hardwood floors or dust getting places where it shouldn't be. Any minor cosmetic damage that occurred during his work he made sure were made good; such as pressure washing the back patio where he was working and touching up the trim paint damage from his tape. The project detailed ripping out the existing ½ bath and bathroom closet for the installation of a shower and full bathroom remodel. There was an additional constraint that we would be out of the country for two weeks and wanted the project done while we were gone. Bill contacted me through Thumbtack and was courteous and detailed in his phone survey of the project. He was punctual in his arrival for the on-site job survey and he impressed me with his knowledge and willingness to work with our requirements and budget. We had our written and itemized estimate in hand 3 days later. After reviewing all collected estimates we chose to go with Bill and Freehold. That evening we met at home depot and decided on a color pallet and hardware styles. During the conversation and listening to Bill describe how he planned to stretch our budget, we decided to go ahead and give Bill full design control. The end product did not let us down. We gave him key and went off on our trip. While we were gone, Bill sent us continuous updates with photos explaining what was going on. He handled and repaired several unplanned for issues in stride and kept us updated on those; the header and house leveling for the unsupported rafters and the need to upgrade the mainline for the plumbing. Along the way he handled several other minor things as they came up; some stuck doors, installation of hardwired smoke detectors and some lights, etc. Due to both the planned and unplanned extras, we ran slightly over on time and budget, and had to move in while Bill was still finishing up. He worked with us to create minimal disturbance to our lives and routines. The finished product was worth the wait. His tile design and choices were gorgeous. The bathroom is beautiful and now out classes the rest of the house. We love it. Then to top it all off, since we had gone slightly over budget he was willing to work with us on the final payment. We highly recommend Bill and Freehold for your next project and plan to continue using him ourselves for additional projects on this and other properties. Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding this review and project: Stormer@frontiernet.net Sincerely, Jason Emans

We had a great experience with Dave and his crew as they immediately were able to do a phenomenal job at the task requested. Which was update the outside of our pool area as the cement was very dated and we needed a very good paint job with specialized paint. Dave went above and beyond and really made our outside surrounding the pool area look brand new again. I met with Dave the day he responded And within three days our job was completed. Dave and his partner came over early on a Saturday morning and even came over Friday to pressure wash the area. Due to the amount of leaves and other debris that were falling Dave brought a leaf blower on Saturday in order to keep the area clean while they were painting our cement. We were extremely happy with the work and the professionalism of both workers. We highly recommend them to future customers and I will be using them again in the future.

I hired SnS Solutions to do a job that, frankly, no one else wanted to do, namely, to prep, prime and paint a rusty metal roof. Anthony and Thomas are experienced, but this business venture is new to them. Their price was excellent, they were responsive to my needs and they were always prompt. In truth, I think the job was more difficult than they had anticipated, but they forged ahead and finished the job in 2.5 days. I would definitely hire them again. I am very pleased with the end result. In addition to the painting, they also power-washed our deck. Again, I'm very pleased with the results.

He was super easy to work, was very respectful of my family’s needs which includes little ones who still take daily naps.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
