I am one of Davids students and I can tell you he is an excellent music teacher as well as producer and vocal coach. I started my piano lessons with David and within 3 or so months I was already playing full songs. Currently I am recording an album project at Posterity Studios with David as my producer/engineer and vocal coach. I can tell you that so far what has been pre-produced is very impressive and I am enjoying the direction the album is taking. Not only am I having David provide some of the music, but I also have live instrumentation being recorded as well....guitars, drums, and bass along with my background vocalist. So if you are looking to take lessons for piano or for vocal lessons or plan on cutting an album, Posterity Studios is the place to go. I am pleased with the lessons and also with the work David is doing on my album project.
Great instructor/mentor. Patrick and his team have a detailed progress plan which tracks the areas you're currently working on, the progress you've made and goals you're working towards. After just a short time studying with him, I had corrected 90% of my bad habits and have gained the confidence to perform in public! All lessons are recorded which is great for listening to your own singing as well as reviewing tips or directions he had given you. Overall - highly recommended
Amazing! David is knowledgeable, lovely, generous, a true artist and we are so lucky to have found him. We are committed to studying with him long term. I'm sure it had nothing to do with you guys at thumbtack. I checked out two different voice teachers. David offered a complimentary consultation lesson, and the other charged supposedly a special price, not cheap, for having found him on thumbtack, for the consultation lesson, and then not clear about how much the actual lessons would coast, plus insisted on getting paid over the phone right away, and answer a ton of questions through some secretary, because he wasn't available. I opted for David, and made my appointed with him. Not complicated at all, a lovely apt. a lovely person, passionate, very knowledgeable and talented. I booked my next lesson happily, and plan on continuing with this voice teacher for at least a year. Singing is an art, and the voice coach should be represented with class, and should not be so cold and calculated, all about the money. With David I will thrive, and he will earn a new student, if not two.
Mara has been giving voice lessons to my 10 yr old daughter for several months and she is amazing. She makes every lesson fun and engaging. Mara is well trained, a great teacher and an overall awesome woman. We could not recommend her more highly.
I've been taking voice lessons with Rae for about six months now, and I cant believe the amount of improvement I've made within that time frame. I originally didn't intend to take lessons with her, but merely have a coaching session of sorts after my unreliable teacher flaked out on me before an audition. I remember thinking how awkward when she started talking about what we would be working on next week because, well, I didnt think there would be a next week. But there was a next week, and many more to come after that. The amount of improvement I made after just one lesson with Rae was astounding. She is great at explaining the impossible. Rae is dedicated to teaching her students. She doesnt use the lessons as a sing along. She can and will correct your every tendency, but never in a way that is condescending. She truly is a great teacher. I have grown so much thanks to her, and not just musically. Ive become more observant and I feel much more confident. Ive noticed a significant improvement in my musical counting capabilities and overall tone quality when I play the flute. Not only am I learning how to sing but I am also learning bits of music theory along the way. We even alleviated my back pain! Who knew I was overarching?!? I sure didnt. Rae did. Ive come to realize that these are more than just voice lessons. Theyre oftentimes life lessons. I aspire to be on Broadway one day, which is the reason I started taking lessons in the first place, and realize that I should probably learn how to dance. I once said to Rae I cant dance and am not a dancer. A few months later, I changed my mindset and changed that statement to I dont know how to dance. I know understand that I am capable of so much more than I originally thought, and that I just need to learn how to do these things and will eventually discover what my limitations are. With my old teacher I felt as if I had a mediocre range. The highest note I would ever sing with her was a D and she would frequently have me struggling to hit notes far below my lower register. With Rae, I now realize that my range is almost double what I had originally believed it to be. I realize that my voice isn't pretty and wispy and high. I realize that I am strong and am a force to be reckoned with. I realize that I am a beginner who had bad habits and that there is no shame in that. I realize that I should act without hesitating and be big and uninhibited. And I realize I have a really awesome voice teacher.
Pamela is fantastic! I've only had two private lessons with her so far and already she has helped me fine tune my voice a lot. She is truly a great teacher and knows how to guide and help you to work on both your strengths and weaknesses. Before going to Pamela I knew I could carry a tune, but after utilizing her instruction she has helped me unlock a much more refined side of my voice. Truly a brilliant teacher!
Annie is amazing and worked to tailor the lessons to my personal interests and tastes. She is an amazing person and I highly recommend her. I've grown to see her as a teacher and a friend. I have so much more confidence now.
Michelle is great with kids. Our 7-year old daughter loves her piano lessons and always looks forward to them. More important, we can hear that she is really learning and making great progress. Two of her school friends have started lessons with Michelle after we recommended her.
Christine is an honest professional. Her passion for music is as evident as her expertise. Without a doubt, I will be going back to her for lessons. I presented her with a challenge for sure. I needed to learn three contrasting pieces of music for an audition within a week. Man, oh man. Christine is definitely a miracle woman. She corrected a lot of my poor habits in technique, gave me lots of insight for future reference, and helped me gain my confidence as a vocalist. Needless to say, I learned all three pieces. Aside from her very obvious superiority in knowledge, she is just the sweetest woman. Very fun, friendly, and welcoming. She always made sure to offer me water or ask how I'm feeling about my progress. She made sure to give honest critique as well as solutions for enhancement. She also always made a point to emphasize my progress as means of encouragement. I 100% recommend Christine without hesitation, no matter what your level or experience with music is. You'll learn a lot for sure and you're getting an absolutely excellent experience for such a great price! As a full-time university student, of course that's something I always look out for. I'm so grateful that was able to get professional help on such short notice for a reasonable price per lesson. In short, the woman knows her stuff. Thanks for everything Christine, I'll surely be coming back to you!
Dave is an amazing instructor! He truly cares about his students. Keep an open mind when coming to his lessons, because I can assure you that his methods are to ensure that you enhance musically, but with correct techniques. Dave is patient and honest. He not only wants to see his students do well and improve in their lessons, but he also cares about his student's well-being. I am happy that I found Dave on thumbtack, by far the best decision, I have ever made. I have improved greatly within the year, and I know I'll continue.
I'm really learning a lot with Viky. She has the fundamentals down and is able to teach them. I'm really enjoying the lessons
They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
A very warm and kind Instuctor, Who is highly skilled in bringing out the best in You, that I'm looking forward to having, long term lessons with. Very Professional.
I've been taking weekly lessons with Corinn for about 7/8 weeks and cannot believe the improvement. I feel so much more prepared and confident for my upcoming auditions. I can honestly say that I have never had a voice teacher as knowledgeable and as committed to my success as Corinn is. I can't thank you enough Corinn!!
I'm a professor for Jazz Music/Improvised Music at the New England Conservatory in Boston myself and I've seen Verena work with her private students with fine results, such that one would benefit greatly from her instructions. Verena McBee, who has successfully earned a 1st state examination for teaching music and has successfully performed in various venues in NYC as jazz vocalist, composer, arranger & lyricist is a fantastic vocal teacher !
I am writing this review as a Colleague. While I have not taken lessons with Candice I know as a seasoned Professional Musician and Teacher myself what makes excellence: and excellence is what Candice's Music Studio offers. Candice is Passionate, Crafted at her Art, and an Excellent Leader and Team Player. It takes a lot more than a Degree in Music to be a great Teacher. You have to have Talent,Heart as well as intellect, instinct and: a desire to constantly be expanding your own horizons while lifting those up around you. Candice has those things in spades. Professionally, I refer Students and Professionals to Voice Studios all the time especially in NY. I would not hesitate to send my own Students to Candice's Music Studio. To whom it may concern, Marina Poplavskaya has changed my vocal journey, entirely. I had the fortune of meeting her at the age of seventeen, just before my auditions for the major conservatories in New York City. I came to her with a wide array of bad habits and faulty technique. As an instructor and as a person, she was a breath of fresh air. She was straight-forward, concise, and incredibly clear as well as passionate and involved. Working on my technique was only the beginning. She taught me how to approach learning a piece/role, how to analyze libretto, understand concepts behind music, and develop correct and consistent diction with French, German, and Italian. Every piece we worked on, we would go into depth. No rock was left unturned. She helped expand my palate for references and was always available to answer any major (or minor) questions or concerns. My confidence in her grew stronger after each successful lesson. It was the first time everything taught to me made sense and was applicable even in my personal practice after my lessons. After not professionally studying with a private teacher for almost two years, I came to her with only a few months to prepare for my auditions and what she did in those few months was extraordinary. I now study at Mannes School of Music and I got accepted thanks to all the effort Marina put in. She set the foundation for a strong technique that I am lucky to build on every day. The instructors in my music classes noticed the difference immediately. My breathing was steady and stable, my tone was pointed and focused, and I had developed enough muscle strength to express dynamics and re-attack each phrase, without losing steam. To add to an unfaltering technique, I was an informed singer. Marina encouraged and guided me to do a word by word translation of each text that I was to perform, as well as its precise diction, which helped me deliver the music in a much more connected and accurate way. Without her, I would be lost as an artist. She made me a better student, a better musician, and a much stronger and more confident vocalist. I will be forever grateful. Sincerely, Yuliya Maschenko Mannes School of Music Lyric Soprano
I had always wanted to learn to play the piano, so my husband gave me three lessons as a birthday present. Sonia was assigned as my teacher and has shown great patience with her 'adult student.' An outstanding pianist, she tries different approaches, apps, and will play a piece for me herself, so that I can better understand the basics. I have thoroughly enjoyed my lessons and recommend Sonia highly.
Amazing vocal teacher! Nicky is a great vocal teacher who is kind and patient. She has been working with my 11 year daughter for about 3 years. Nicky makes the extra effort to use age appropriate songs and part of the lesson includes music theory. Win win! My daughter can’t commit to the practice time necessary with an instrument, so we went with vocal lessons with Nicky. With singing she can practice any time and anywhere. Nicky has been able to bring out some beautiful notes, making this mom very proud. Can’t beat the price - she comes to our home and is a very accommodating with our crazy schedule. Again she is an AMAZING vocal teacher!!
Reprise Music is fantastic---expert lessons that are engaging and fun! I love the group ukulele classes for younger kids.
