No lie, there can't possibly be a company better than these guys. It's important to have an exterminator who not just baits and traps, but also SEALS the pests' entrance points so they don't come back. That's exactly what Terminators did!!!! The staff is amazing!!! Shirley in the office was beyond sweet and helpful. The price was FANTASTIC...and the service??!! Second to NONE!!! She sent Jerry...who is the Terminator MASTER!!!! Not only is he down to earth and a nice guy, but he is a consummate professional and takes COMPLETE PRIDE in his work. He called to tell me he was running a little late at his previous appointment...then when he arrived, Jerry took a tour and took time to explain what he saw and what needed to be done. He wanted to be thorough and knew our home would take a while , so he asked if he could go to the appointment scheduled after ours, knock it out and come back so he could take his time. Totally reasonable!!! As you can probably guess, we had a serious problem with "Mickey and Minnie"...and all their children, grands and great grands running around our home. Jerry worked his heart out!!! He cleaned out and sealed everything thoroughly as promised. He even did extra work he didn't need to do and pointed out structural issues that needed to be addressed (he hates letting it be known, but he's an entomologist AND a licensed contractor). He explained that it may take about a week and a half before all the critters are eliminated....but the difference is sooooo noticeable!!!! He came here yesterday and today there is no evidence of "visitors"...in fact the only visitor we saw must not have gotten the memo...he was found "terminated." AMAZING!!!...especially since there has been a serious problem here for years which was worsening over the past week. Terminators Pest Management is good to a fault. They work hard to make sure your problem doesn't come back after they visit. That is simply not the case with most pest control agencies. Jerry also insisted we text him in about a week and a half to let him know how everything is going. I wish people were like them in all businesses!!! If you want good, reliable, reasonable and trustworthy pest control services, you definitely want these guys!! I highly recommend them without reservations.

Great service ! He was right on time. Explained the process in details. Sent me a preparation email before he arrived and another email on what to do after the bed bugs have been treated. They did 4 treatments to create an overkill for the bedbugs. He was honest, and very professional. His price was also reasonable! It beat every other exterminator that I found on thumbtack and other websites. They will be my “go to” company from now on for pest control. I highly recommend.

Great service! This was my first time dealing with pests and had no experience in hiring pest control. The folks from A-Academy put me at ease from the first call itself. They patiently answered all my questions, gave me a clear roadmap of the job they were going to do, followed it up with a free inspection and then the job next day. Being a novice, they advised me on what I need to do in preparation for appointment and then steps I need to take after the pest control treatment. Very professional service and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

The technician showed up on time, was very helpful in making me aware of the different products he was using, and was also great working around my two cats and niece. He just conducted his last inspection after he treated for bedbugs, and its been three weeks and I think its safe to say they're all gone. He also gave me a great deal on his pest preventative services which I didn't hesitate signing up for because of my proximity to a landfill, there's a lot of rodents and other critters that come to my property.

This review is only based on the initial visit. The exterminator came on time and thoroughly addressed my mouse problem. He was confident that his services would eliminate the problem. He also gave me a time frame when I should no longer see any mice. Before he left, he answered all my questions and offered other services, such as killing mosquitoes. I may give them a call next spring.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.
