Browse these water main contractors with great ratings from Thumbtack customers in New York.
Jason came out very quickly and fixed the leaking pipe under our sink. There was still some water after he fixed what we thought was the problem. He took the time to repair that part and didn't charge extra labor. He even took a look at the dishwasher. The price was really reasonable and the work was done well. I would definitely use him again.
I used this company twice. The first job they replaced main sewer line and the second job they repaired my boiler. They do great work and clean up after themselves. Their prices are fair and they are very reliable! I will definitely recommend them to others.
Ackthba did a great job replacing our toilet seat, which we thought was a very simple task but 2 contractors prior to Ackthba were not able to handle the task. Ackthba is very resourceful and professional and I will definitely call on him in the future.
Hired Walter to check out a clogged toilet drain. Turned out it was a broken main sewer line which he was also able to repair. I liked how he is very systematic in his approach to identify the problem and his philosophy to only fix what is broken. Also explains and communicates well and works with you. Since he can do a lot of very different tasks, I am sure I will hire him in the future and can also recommend him to everybody.
I had hired Robert to unclog one of my property main sewer line. This task was very nasty because the basement got flooded with 3/4 inches of dirty water. Robert came to do this job on Sunday on a very short notice period. His price was very fair and recommended me a great cleaning service for afterward cleaning. Robert I will definitely be working with you in future since we have 10 multifamily properties consisting of 25 units. Thanks for you great customer service and reliability.
Martin is always reliable and honest. He was highly recommended, so we called him to install our Hot Water Heater and Kitchen. He is proficient with Plumbing and Electric amongst other talents and takes pride in his work. We Highly Recommend!
I liked his professional demeanor. He resolved my sump pump problem and his advice resolved a window well problem as well. He also sloped and re-installed the gutters to eliminate leakage behind the gutters which caused water stains on the siding. it is to soon to rate this procedure since the leakage only occurs during heavy downpours . We haven't experienced a heavy downpour since the work was completed. I liked his work ethic and concerns about total customer satisfaction. I am waiting for results on the gutter sloping and re-install and if it didn't correct the problem what he will do to fix the problem? I believe in "getting what you paid for". I feel he is an honorable contractor. He will stand by his work.
Dexter is a great contractor. He is by far the best contractor I had. He was fair in pricing, and very pleasant to work with. I hired Dexter as a contractor to repair electrical problems I was having in and around my house. Dexter provided and displayed the professional knowledge to me and my mother to allow us to make the best possible decisions. Dexter took on and completed projects that previous contractors started and did not finish. He even troubleshooted the entire project and did the necessary work that the previous contractors didn't want to do. This goes to show that he can be counted on to give 110 percent under all circumstances whether he began the project or he is picking up in the middle from which someone did not finish the project. Basically he does things the correct way--he does not "cut-corners." Regardless of the situation, Dexter will do everything possible to make sure that his performance is correct and done right. Dexter is a great electrician. You should definitely hire him as a contractor.
One of the best contractors I've ever hired. I will definitely call Nick for any plumbing needs in the future. Real nice and professional guy!
Jorge is a life saver! I bought a washer and after installing it we notice the water as leaking from the valve. Unfortunately we had to turn the water off for quite a few hours... Not so great when you have and almost 2 year old at home. I had no choice but hire a plumber. Thanks you Jorge, he was at my house in less the half hour and fixed it in less that 20 minutes. The soldering was quick and it was a great job. I highly recommend him. You get affordable great service in a great time.
I highly recommend Celtic Piping and Heating. Edward got back to me quickly with an online quote while many other plumbers or contractors refuse to provide even a ballpark estimate without seeing the project. (Translation: it's harder to refuse when someone is standing in your apartment ready to work even if the price is outrageous!) Edward called me back within 30 minutes to arrange for a time and arrived promptly... on a Saturday, no less! I had failed to mention that I needed a drain installed in addition to two faucets and that wasn't a problem for him. He clearly knows what he is doing and my kitchen and bathroom now have a much more updated look thanks to his efforts. Edward is a true professional and he clearly takes pride in what he does. He left me with his card in case there were any problems as he guarantees his work. I don't think that I'll be needing it... until I have another project, that is! Terrific!
William responded quickly, arrived on time, and installed a water line from the basement to my backyard in order to have water access and a hose. He completed the task in under an hour.
It was past 5pm on a Friday and I was in a bit of a bind. I had shut off the water supply to the house in order to change a leaky valve with a broken packing nut. Unfortunately, I had a very old valve and you can't remove the handle from the stem to get at the packing nut. I would have to replace the entire valve and I knew that was beyond my scope and I had to call a plumber. Most plumbers would take advantage of the situation and charge very high prices for the job which is exactly what happened. Herbert is the exception. The earliest I could get Roto-Rooter or anybody else to come by was either morning or noon the next day. I'd be without water the entire time too. Herbert was a God-send because he reached me in less than an hour from the time I placed the project on thumbtack! Instead of taking advantage of the situation he HELPED me with the price! He definitely deserves all the stellar reviews that he's got on this site. If you have plumbing issues, save yourself time and trouble and call Herbert. He knows exactly what he is doing and was done with the job in less than 30 minutes. He also answered some questions that I had related to the issue at hand.
My partner and I just moved to NJ from NC and had quite a bit of repairs and upgrades we needed to complete on the new home we purchased. One such upgrade was venting the dryer. This home was built in 1892 so needless to say, the original architectural plan did not include a dryer. The previous owners installed a gas line - but where the gas line had to run to attach to the kitchen stove, made for a really poor location in the basement in regards to venting the dryer. Before Nick came, he let me know a price for a best case scenario, which I appreciated because had he named a price over my budget, it would have given us both the opportunity to cancel the estimate so as not to waste time. Nick arrived on-time for the estimate and at first it was pretty tricky to find a solution for venting the dryer without completely tearing up the ceiling and walls. Nick was persistent in finding though and was able to devise a plan of going through an old nonfunctional window that was hidden and covered. I hired him to complete the dryer venting and also uncap the gas line and install a hose in preparation for the dryer installation. On the day of the project, Nick arrived on time (7:30am on a Saturday) It took him about 2.5 hours to complete everything. He did a fantastic job. One strength I want to highlight is that Nick not only gets the job done, and does it well, but also takes pride in the aesthetics of his work. He could have easily vented the dryer in a way that exposed the pipe all the way along the ceiling and through the window, but instead he figured out a way to fish it under the sheet rock for a cleaner look. He also cleaned his work space completely - which I have found to be rare for contractors in this area. I have had many contractors who were ready to walk out the door without cleaning up their mess and would have done so had I not asked them to clean up before they go. I also want to highlight that I had a sewage pipe issue in the basement prior to his dryer venting project. Nick also does plumbing so I called him at 4pm and he was at my house by 8pm. People who who have hired folks for sewage pipe leaks know that cleaning up the sewage is not part of the job. Nick was willing to clean and sanitize on top of snaking the pipes and clearing them of clogs for a reasonable price. Nick has been great to work with and does great work. I have already hired him to take care of some other projects around the house (installing a shower door, clearing debris in the backyard). Glad we found a go-to handyman for our new home!
We needed a plumbing repair late Sunday afternoon at my parents home (60 year old house with original copper plumbing). They had found water on the floor of their finished basement. It was not gushing, but a steady drip. We shut off the water to the house. Matt responded quickly through Thumbtack, and was at the house within a couple hours. It was a cracked fitting, which he repaired. Price was reasonable, he was professional and we will use him again. He also called the next day for follow-up.
Bill completed the repair of the outside water faucet in a little over an hour. Did a good job, was professional and pleasant. Would hire again, if needed. Charge for service was exactly what he quoted, no fast talk or extra money asked for. Good job Bill thanks.
We are out-of-state and needed a plumber to fix an issue with running water in a sink in our building. J&R Quality Repair responded very quickly to our request. They were prompt and estimated the job properly. We are very please with the results. Great communications and excellent service. Would highly recommend and would definitely use again! Thanks, Ric!
Had a great experience working with Peter. He put in a new water heater for me. Would definitely hire again and highly recommend.
I'm very happy with my decision to hire Ron for my basement main sewage line problem. He was knowledgeable, reassuring and more than willing to help refer someone else when the job became out of his jurisdiction. Thank you so much Ron, you're our new go-to guy!
I simply could not be more pleased with my experience with CJ from Waterflow, cannot imagine ever hiring anyone else for projects in my apartment, and am already recommending him to my friends. I received several quotes through Thumbtack for contractors to replace my bathroom vanity and sink. However, I made the decision to hire CJ very early in the process based on his way of communicating. CJ was always highly responsive incredibly polite, and followed up to check in on my plans without ever making me feel that I was being pressured. On the day of the installation, he was a little delayed due to traffic but called precisely at his promised arrival time to let me know. He was also very engaging and easy to communicate with and I learned a lot from observing him. I have been a member of the Co-Op board for my building for many years and also undertook a major renovation in my apartment a few years ago. As a result, I know a thing or two about dealing with contractors. With all things considered, working with CJ has been my most positive contractor experience to date. I had decided to replace the vanity and sink in my bathroom but elected to keep the original faucet, which went well with the decor. In hindsight, this was not the best choice since the existing faucet turned out to be quite corroded once CJ was able to remove it. I am also quite handy and have built and repaired many things in my home myself, but knew that this job was beyond my ability to take on alone. I appreciated the fact that CJ was always receptive to my suggestions. He was very patient in everything that he did and worked delicately and carefully to preserve the existing faucet, taking his time to lubricate all the joints and make sure that al of the mechanisms were working properly.. Unfortunately, a key connector, which was probably already broken and glued together, came apart as he was trying to install it on the new sink. It was clear that we were not going to be able to reuse the old unit after all and CJ drove me to the hardware store to get a replacement. Before we left the store, he made sure that he checked all of the mechanisms for the one that we would purchase and made sure that h=it would be compatible with the new sink and vanity top. Unlike many contractors that I have worked with, CJ actually read the manual for the new faucet to make sure that his approach to the installation was correct. However, he clearly understood all of the mechanisms that he was working with and would take the time to explain things to me as he went along. I learned very quickly to trust his judgment. We ended up having to remove the bathroom door in order to get the new vanity in place, and there were quite a few challenges related to the alignment of the drain and accommodation of the shutoff valves and other existing fixtures with the shelving inside the vanity. All of this made the job take a lot longer than anticipated, but CJ remained incredibly patient and focused on all the finer details necessary to get the job done right. He was also fully prepared to honor his original estimate, which was beyond reasonable. Knowing it was well deserved, I paid CJ almost all of the extra cash that I had on hand and would have gladly paid even more. His attitude throughout the entire process was simply outstanding and his work ethic is exemplary. CJ will be my go-to hire for any other projects that I take on in my home.
I was selling our house and just waiting for the closing date when our hot water heater decided it’s had enough and started leaking. A lot. Full laundry room full of water. It was a Sunday and almost nobody answers their phones, but I got a hold of Bill and as a father himself knew the situation I was in with 3 kids of my own and no hot water. After a couple of questions over the phone he said he’d be over in the morning. True to his word he was over first thing Monday morning with a brand new water heater. In a few short hours the swap was done and we were back up and running. He got the proper permits from the town and did everything by the book. A true life saver! He was extremely professional, easy to talk to and meticulously clean. I’d recommend Olive Vine to anyone as the world of service & contractors is 90% recommendations. Mechanics, barbers, contractors etc. “I gotta guy”. Well I’ve got a guy in Bill.
