My experience with John was fantastic. He video-graphed my friends wedding and we could not be happier. He communicated with me throughout the whole process and when I thought that we were not going to be able to afford it due to some financial situations that came up he gave us the opportunity to give him what we had at the time as long as we were able to pay the rest by the day of the wedding which I thought was a nice gesture. The video was great and he took the time to edit and add their song to the video.I would definitely recommend him again and have already begun as one of my friends is getting married next year. The video was great, the price was affordable compared to other companies and throughout the whole process he made sure that we knew what was going on and really went above and beyond to ensure that we were getting what we wanted. He even added purple labels to the dvds which was the color that she used throughout the wedding. It is little touches like that that really make a difference.

His job was to videotape activity- everything went well. He captured the most important moments in my parents 61st wedding anniversary and reception. He just blended into the event which was conducted in Spanish. He took into consideration our requests and produced a memory for a lifetime. It was so original we plan to send relatives who could not attend. Very happy we chose KC as our videographer. Very reliable! We got what he promised. Thank you! KC

Hector did an amazing job with our wedding photography and saved the day as I found him here on Thumbtack 2 months before our big day (I was lucky - don't wait that long!). This was a double wedding with two couples involved and so double the work/photography needed. Hector showed nothing but enthusiasm from the start! Communication with him is quick - email, phone, and even texts. He worked literally all day - 9am til after midnight - taking shots at multiple locations of both brides and both grooms getting ready, the ceremony, limo pics, outside shots including all 3 families, the reception, and more. He is truly a professional knowing just how to angle and light a picture to make it stand out. He even visits the locations in advance so that he knows where to take the pictures before the big day - truly above and beyond what most photographers would do. In just about 3 weeks, all 1300+ pics were already uploaded on his website to view (and download with a secured pin number he emails you). Prior to that, he uploaded a sampling of the pictures to his Facebook page as a teaser (definitely check his FB page out and follow him!) And the price? He worked within our budget and is more than fair, especially given the quality and quantity of the photographs. You can tell Hector is passionate about his work and that he truly cares for those he is working for. I would definitely hire Hector again in the future without hesitation!

JUNE 30, 2015 was our wedding day, not only that but it was the celebration of our 8 year anniversary with our closest friends and family. Raul captured so many beautiful pictures and I can feel the feeling I had at that exact moment when I look at them. He captured not only pictures of us but our family/friends drinking and laughing. We enjoyed working with him and he's so easy going. We can't wait to see all of the photos!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH RAUL.

Lance did a fantastic job with our wedding videography! He was personable and very flexible. My husband and I do not regret having him for our wedding- probably one of the best (and very last minute) decisions that we ever made. We would highly recommend him for any event!

I greatly enjoyed working with Scott Roth events for my wedding which took place on 7/22/17 at the Rockleigh. Everyone loved the photo booth and it definitely put the finishing touch on my reception. Scott put together a thoughtful scrapbook album for us afterwards, which we loved! Scott is professional and very responsive to email and/ or phone calls. I highly recommend Scott Roth Events!

We hired Salah for my wife's 30th birthday - he was fantastic. He was easy to work with and very friendly with all our guests. He was kind enough to join us the entire day of photography that took place in Paramus, NJ and all over Manhattan, NY. Salah is very easy going and provides quality work. He provided all the picture at the end of our event, which was awesome. Salah also provided a small video clip of our event - I would certainly recommend him for both photography and videography. Thanks Salah for capturing our event :)

We were having a destination wedding in Aruba. In order for the marriage to be legal we needed to get married in the states. So we had a small ceremony and hired Country skyline to do the videography and take pictures. The did such an amazing job. Vincent was so sweet and professional. The work came out so great we actually like it better than the real wedding which was on a beach in Aruba! Whenever I watch the video I cry. These guys are the best!

Our photos are on their way to us and we couldn't be more excited for them to arrive. We were extremely impressed with our engagement shoot and work Mandon Productions does. We used Mandon Productions for both our Photography and Videography and look forward to seeing the wedding results. Joel and his wife are very accommodating and listen to what you would like. During our engagement session, Joel made us feel very relaxed and let us be us, rather than pose this way, or pose that way. Our pictures came out more natural looking and expressed who we are! I can't wait to see our wedding results!

I found Michael a week before my brother's wedding, I wanted to surprise him and his bride and have their wedding taped as a gift. Michael came to the rescue and did a fantastic job! Even after the event I had some trouble with the video files and he gave me guidance to address the issue (It was my Mac's fault lol) The event even ran a little bit overtime and Michael didn't just leave as soon time was up... he stayed for the extra hour or so. I really appreciated that because the photographer was not as understanding about it. I would definitely use Michael again for any future events... highly recommended!!

Solo's work is on a completely different level compared to most wedding videographers out there. I'm an amateur videographer, so when I started to look for videographers - I had to find someone who could do a better job than I could ever do myself. Video is a number one priority for me, so when I saw Solo's videos - I knew I could trust him 100% and that I didn't have to do anything but to book him for our wedding. Solo is a true professional - I still can't believe the level of the quality of work he's done for us considering how hectic our wedding was. He made the most out of what he could work with and created a masterpiece that truly reflects our personalities and the atmosphere of the wedding. It was an honor to have him film our wedding, because he didn't just make a video, he created a work of art that my wife and I are honored to be featured in and will cherish forever.

Franciska is an excellent communicator and professional videographer. She makes sure every little details before, during and after the filming. Those details make the filming process very smoothly. She also follows the direction and standards for our project and the final videos look very great. After the filming, she immediately uploaded the videos and gave quick update of the filming. She is also very flexible for the time and payment. I highly recommend her if you want to have a pleasant experience for your video project!

They did my wedding video and it came out amazing. People called me the next day asking who did my video because they wanted to use them forbtheir wedding. And don't get me started about the photos. They really got to know my guests and were able to take such personal picture where it's as if the guest weren't even posing. Really just an amazing job. Definitely using them again!!!

The Cinema Factory is the absolute best videographer that I could have selected to capture our wedding day. We worked with Raul who was willing to accommodate us every step of the way. We felt that he was just as excited as we were about our wedding day. Raul was easy to work with and even arrived to the hotel bright and early. He has a great sense of humor, which helped me relax as I was feeling anxious/nervous because we were behind schedule. Raul helped put me at ease as he showed me beautiful clips that he was taking while I was having my hair & makeup done. The entire bridal party also commented about how fun he was to be around. Raul was very professional and focused the entire day. I saw him running around behind-the-scenes and working hard outside on a typical hot day. He worked so well with all my other vendors and as a team really helping one another out. It can feel pretty awkward to be in front of the camera, but he works so efficiently and blends so well into the background that everything felt natural. Raul is creative, energetic, and motivated – he genuinely enjoys capturing wedding videography and getting to know the couples. I truly enjoyed having him as part of our special day. I cannot wait to see our wedding video. I would recommend The Cinema Factory fully without hesitation to anyone looking for an amazing wedding videographer!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
