My son, Christian, age 7, has been taking guitar lessons from Matteo Liberatore for over a year now. I am very happy and excited with Christian's progress!! Matteo is an excellent teacher. He is patient and kind but at the same time, he encourages Christian to reach his full potential. Matteo is a true professional and I would recommend him as a guitar teacher for children as well as adults.

Aodhan (Aidan) is exceptional in his perception of where you stand as a guitarist and who you are as a person. He is incredibly talented himself as a guitarist but never uses that against you. Instead he is able to draw from his own talents to understand where you are as a guitarist and help you achieve your own goals, but even better, help you to realize that you have more to offer than you realize. He will give you personalized lessons that apply to you and your own level. He has the ability to apply pertinent lessons to the very beginner, with enthusiastic encouragement, and also be able to help someone who's got the basics, truly apply that towards a deeper understanding of what they are actually doing on guitar. I have taken lessons from other guitarists, who simply don't take the time to understand where you are in your skills, and just want to fill the time with talk and misdirection. Aodhan, isn't concerned with that nonsense, he is interested in making you better at the guitar and understanding what your abilities are on this instrument. I've gone from simple chord progressions and simple strumming to more complicated and off beat strumming under the direction of Aodhan. He really is very good at contouring a lesson based on your very own level and goals, but also lets you know a little bit more of what your capable of that you might not realize yet. I highly recommend him as a teacher, but you will also find him to be a friend as well. You will also benefit form going to hear him in action as he plays with several bands throughout NYC. I have been with him for a few months now and have been truly motivated to keep honing my skills on the guitar. I appreciate his respect in that and ability to keep me wanting more of myself.

I teach to inspire. I have taught many students at every level from young students to professional jazz musicians. What matters most to my students is being understood and understanding what heights they can reach. My job as a teacher is to inspire my students to learn not for learning's sake, but to reach their potential. As a multi-instrumentalist and a biology student, I understand how to explain the material to a wide variety of learning styles, but more important than explaining a subject is making it interesting. Because I loved my school experiences growing up, I am now looking forward to sharing my passion for science with my students. Students require teachers who can provide a good example of how the information they are learning will help them in the real world. As a music therapist working in New York City, I have learned that what matters more than memorizing facts is learning how to learn. If my students are able to understand the mechanics of learning, they will open themselves up to understanding more than they could have possibly imagined. With a degree from Cornell University in Biology and Music, I have played as a professional musician in New York City for eight years. I have toured the US with my band, and I have played all over the world. I have taught students from ages 5 to 85, and every student leaves the lesson feeling inspired to pursue their passion for music. If you want to learn, be prepared for inspiration. My lesson details are the following: - Each lesson will focus on learning songs that the student chooses. - The styles are pop, jazz, R&B and hip-hop. - If taking piano, drums or guitar lessons, you must have your own instrument. My studio equipment are the following: - Logic - Garageband - Notion - Sibelius - Gibson SG-50 - Fender Telecaster - Nord Electro 2 - Nodar Rode Custom Drumset My travel equipment is the acoustic guitar. My specialties are the following: - Jazz - Rock - Pop - R&B

Bio: Born into a musical family, Chad Wade studied piano as a child and purchased his first guitar at age 14. He studied the electric guitar with Greg Nipp and played in several bands throughout high school and college. He later earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied classical guitar under Cuban master, Mario Abril. Chad has performed at a variety of venues over the years, from intimate weddings to large benefit concerts (the largest being 7,000). He has taught both private and group lessons to different ages and skill levels for over seven years. He has been certified as a TakeLessons and Taylor Robinson Music instructor. Chad now serves as music pastor for Encounter Church in Darien, CT. Lesson content: I mainly teach the finger style technique and repertoire of classical guitar. This technique can be applied to different kinds of guitars (steel string acoustic, electric, etc.) and can serve as an excellent foundation to other musical styles (jazz, blues, country, rock, etc.), but can only be effectively learned on a true classical guitar. Beginning students will be guided through First Lessons for Guitar: Volume 1 by Julio S. Sagreras (which I will provide for $5). Students will also acquire the classic etudes of Sor, Carcassi, Villa-Lobos and Brouwer, later exploring the rich diversity of classical guitar repertoire from the renaissance, baroque, romantic, and modern eras. If you're interested in learning other styles, we can agree on a personalized track to learning what you'd like to learn. The first lesson is free: I offer this incentive because I want to assure the student/parent that we are going to work well together. This first lesson is a great opportunity to establish goals, answer any question, and clearly communicate what the student should expect from my guitar lessons. Parents are welcome to sit in on this relational discussion, as well as any other lesson, as long as they are not a distraction to the student. Performances: I also regularly perform at various events. The unique sound of plucked nylon strings elicits a pleasant, formal mood while remaining conducive for conversation. The guitar is most suitable for smaller, intimate venues, but amplification can be used for larger venues. My most requested pieces include Pachelbel's "Canon in D," Mendelsohn's "Wedding March," and Wagner's "Bridal Chorus", but most guitar music from the renaissance, baroque, romantic, and modern eras are often appropriate for any venue. Additionally, the guitar is versatile enough to play music composed for other instruments, so the possibilities are endless.
