Simply put, Abby Miller is by far the greatest Yogi I've ever learned from and I would rather have a session with her over Skype than a less qualified, talented, knowledgeable, in tune instructor in person. After you experience a private session with Abby, you will never also consider a group lesson or even a private lesson from a less qualified and talented Yogi. Abby Miller is the best Yogi I've ever worked with, and I cannot recommend her private Yoga Sessions strongly enough. Your life will change drastically for the better.
Chrissie has been my yoga instructor since November 2014. Before I went to her class, I was a complete novice. Emily is such a caring and professional yoga instructor. I'm in her Saturday morning class, and one thing that I love is that she always asks the class if there's anything in particular that they want to work on. She is really good about monitoring body positioning, and making suggestions for more effective poses. She's also really good at reading the students and suggesting appropriate modifications for a more meaningful practice. The classes are well thought out, and they flow really well. Above all else, Emily is exceptional at fostering a safe space to practice yoga the way that your body will let you.

I have taken many of Kristen's classes. I like how she mixes it up so that the practice feels a little different every time. Kristen fives ideas to make the practice your own and encourages us to use props to get into the poses better. Great practice!
I came to yoga in 2014 as a true “yoga skeptic” when my mounting collection of running injuries finally forced me to put away the tennis shoes for awhile and find a more balanced physical workout. I quickly fell in love with the connection of movement to breath and the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of the practice. I am registered with Yoga Alliance and completed her 200 Hour training program with GoYoga in Columbus, Ohio. I teaches power vinyasa and yin/deep stretch classes/private lessons. My power classes tend to be challenging, energetic, and fun, while my yin classes focus on the function of each pose and the sensations created in the body. Both classes have an equal amount of laughter and good vibes. Both styles of yoga offer different healing benefits for the body, mind, and spirit.

What goes in to a quote: I believe many people think that rates for private yoga lessons are outrageous. I understand where this comes from. But it certainly is not the case that teachers who charge more than, say, $20/hr are price gouging. To help illuminate why rates for private lessons are what they are, or should be, I want to go over what any yoga teacher who respects themselves, their students/clients, and the dedication it takes to be aware and present for their students, should take into consideration when deciding on what to charge. Education Both the initial training to become certified at the 200 hour level, as well as continuing education requirements cost money. Lots of money. Any teacher is a constant student, whether through courses, books, or classes they take themselves. Any art dealing with the human body and mind is deep and requires a constant state of being teachable and a desire to take in more. Recurring Costs Liability insurance, renewal of certification through Yoga Alliance and other organizations, equipment, taxes, CPR certification, etc. Travel Expenses Both to and from your location, or the location we are meeting (gas, car maintenance, etc.). Planning A teacher spends more time working for you than just that hour or so we are together. For every hour lesson there are at least two hours spent preparing and refining a lesson plan each week tailored to your needs and goals. Daily Practice Any good teacher has a personal practice they do every day. This allows us to teach from a place of experience and authenticity, instead of simple recitation of poses and sequences. Yes, we benefit from our personal practice, but it's also training and gaining insights that we will bring to teaching you. Being a yoga teacher is running a one person business, and as such it comes with all the expenses we don't typically think about when we compare what a teacher quotes for their services versus what we may get paid per hour at a job. On top of all this are the living costs everyone has to take care of. If a teacher quotes you anything less than $40/hr they are not doing you or themselves a service. Either they are in a situation where they do not need to make a living through their teaching, or are desperate for teaching opportunities and devaluing what they have to offer. Note: Rates can be more affordable if you have a small group (3-5 people) to split the cost with. This will make lessons less individualized, but can be a better option if you have a few friends who are interested in yoga or meditation.

But when yoga class is fun and you spend time laughing, learning and breathing together, then all the benefits, such as a good work out, a sense of focus and stress relief, come a lot more easily. A part of what I love most about yoga is the struggle. It teaches you to fight your battles and work hard both on and off the mat, because the end result will be worth it. For me, yoga is meditation in movement and an ever expanding exploration of self. I am continually inspired to bring these experiences to my students. If students leave my class with a smile on their face and sweat dripping down their temples, then I know I have done my job and I am so happy to be doing it.
