I took weekly guitar lessons from Johnny A about 10 years ago when I was 12-13. I had to stop when high school started to accommodate a football/basketball practice schedule, but continued to schedule 1-time lessons to learn specific skills (like slide playing, etc.) He helped mix the lessons into a combination of what I "wanted" to learn (to keep me interested) and what I needed to learn (to progress as a guitar player). 10 years later, I'm hopelessly addicted to the guitar. I have a number of friends who started lessons (with different teachers) and gave up on it early because it wasn't fun. Well, Johnny A helped hook me early, helped me get through the frustrating first weeks, and helped turn me into an guitar player who has actually been paid to play. I'd recommend John to anyone looking for a new addiction.
Jeremy is a superb teacher. After five lessons with him, I am playing jazz chord melody arrangements that I never dreamed I could execute. Jeremy explains complex musical ideas in language I can understand. When we're working on a song I not only learn how to play it but also what makes the song tick, and how I can apply that knowledge to other situations. He is patient, has a great sense of humor, and seems to know exactly what I need to learn next. I appreciate that he allows me to progress at my own pace and offers multiple techniques for achieving a particular playing goal so that I can find the approach that works best for me. I come away from each lesson fired up with new ideas that I'm eager to bring to the fretboard. I highly recommend Jeremy to anyone looking for a guitar teacher. Whether you're a novice or an experienced player, he'll help you take your playing to the next level and he'll make your guitar journey a fun ride!
Okay so. . In the spring of 2012 after being convinced my son's interest in his electric guitar wasn't a passing phase I started looking into finding the best affordable guitar instruction in Lexington. That translated into a group guitar series of lessons for beginners. Logan's goal then was to be able to learn in order to accompany himself because he was primarily interested in voice. I was blown away at how quickly he was able to play and sing. A whole new world opened up and I think it has been life changing for him. David is incredibly talented as a musician and is just the coolest guy. He connects so easily with his students and I just don't think Logan would have wanted to continue lessons without it being someone like Dave. I believe he may have done 2 series of group lessons and then he has been with him in private lessons ever since. Best investment I have made. Playing and performing is something my Son will be able to enjoy and treasure all of his life. What a gift! Thank you David! I highly recommend him to everyone. We are lucky to have him. :-)
John is an excellent teacher with students of piano of all abilities. His patience is admirable and he takes his time with his students. He also asks the students be they young or adults to practice before each meeting to see what improvements have been made. I can't say enough about the superb abilities of this teacher as compared to other piano teachers in the area. You will be fortunate to have Mr. Toedtman accept your child as one of his proteges.
My field commander in marching band at my high school and at Miami university. Stephen is an excellent musician and was very helpful in my learning to play the saxophone. He always went above and beyond the call of duty.
After trying to learn guitar casually on my own for a few years, I decided to seek out lessons. When I compared a few places I felt like Brian Armor would be a good teacher. I started taking weekly lessons a few months ago and chose a favorite rock song to learn. Since then I've added several songs and feel great about my progress. Brian is good at teaching things quickly. He knows how to adapt to my pace and scale it down. He gives me a good sense of where I'm at and what to work on, including reminders to avoid my bad habits. I'm impressed that Brian can listen to a song and is able to play it by ear, with the right tuning, key, and rhythm. Overall I'm having fun, playing songs I like (not just scales and chord progressions), and looking forward to getting better. Guitar lessons are my favorite part about Mondays! I highly recommend guitar lessons with Brian.
Lou is the real deal!!! I would highly recommend taking guitar lessons with Lou whether you are a beginner (like myself) or advanced and just want further instruction. He has been in the music industry for years, is extremely knowledgeable, and is super personable. I found Lou's contact information on Thumbtack and I could not be happier learning how to play.
Best guitar lesson ever. I'm self taught and have played for decades, but Kelly has boosted my confidence in one hour. Her teaching style is perfect for any skill level. I'm actually excited about practicing my lesson. Highly recommended.
I have been taking my 8 year old son to John for guitar lessons for approximately 6 months. John is an excellent teacher and is extremely patient with Ethan. Ethan absolutely loves going to his lesson and looks forward to learning something new each week. I would highly recommend John to anyone, beginner or advanced.
Gerritt's guitar instruction and mentoring has immensely helped my guitar playing, songwriting and confidence in both my practice and when playing out in public. I will always appreciate the tactful honesty and creative problem solving that Gerritt utilizes with his instruction. He has rare gifts!
Andy taught for Loveland Music Academy for nearly 10 years. During his time with LMA, he was the most requested guitar instructor on the faculty. In addition to both acoustic and electric guitar, Andy teaches bass guitar, ukulele, mandolin, and percussion. Another exciting aspect for his students is his detailed attention to lesson plans for the needs and interests of each individual student. Both kids and adults enjoy his sense of humor and knowledge of a wide variety of musical genres, and parents appreciated that their kids enjoyed the lessons while learning the necessary basics of a solid music education. While we were thrilled for him to marry Ashlee and move to their home in Hamilton, we were sorry to lose him to the distance and wish him much success in his own studio, AM Sound. We know that he will be successful in his new endeavor, from teaching to composing to recording and sound engineering.
My son, Alex, says, "Josh is an amazing guitar teacher! He is very knowledgeable in music and is qualified to teach anything from beginner guitar to professional. He has been a joy to work with, someone who can get along with anyone. Josh helped me prepare for my college guitar audition, (which was the primary reason I sought out a teacher this past year) and it went very well, I was awarded lots of scholarship money and was accepted into the music program in Nashville I applied for! He has been so helpful already that I have decided to keep taking lessons from him weekly to better prepare myself for music school this Fall, when I go down to Nashville for the start of my Freshman year! Thank you Josh, you have been a blessing!"

I specialize in teaching adults and kids the basics of playing guitar. I am exceedingly patient and work not as heavily on theory as getting people to play songs as quickly as possible.
I am a professional Guitarist in composition and performance and teaching, with music experience from all over the country. I have done commercial projects for P&G and have a few pieces written for radio played on WCDJ in Boston and in Utica, CA, AZ and Cincinnati, Ohio. I have taught many of the professional guitarists in the area and continue to play and teach with professionals. I do, however love to teach guitar to beginners as well and have a tried and true approach that works and can be modified to accommodate any learning style. You just need to come with a love for music and we will work together to make that love into reality.
I teach beginning to intermediate guitar. I teach music theory, finger picking, chord progressions, scales, and how to play by ear.
