My 10 year old daughter has studied piano under Mr. John Derrickson at Miami Valley Music Instruction for over three years, and the growth has been remarkable. She was completely new in learning this instrument. Under his guidance, she is learning to become fluent in reading music, can sing while playing, and receives valuable lessons on the history and origins of the music she performs. Mr. Derrickson is more than an instructor he is a gifted educator who creates meaningful challenges, motivates his students to give their best, and truly aims for their success. Sondra T. says, "I contacted StookU and told them what I expected from a teacher, and they paired me with Johnny-Ray, who is AMAZING! Every lesson is taped so you are able to go and back and review. There is also a Google doc link with uploaded material as you learn. The cost of lessons is reasonable. The best part, though, is my teacher, Johnny-Ray. He plays several instruments and is knowledgable about music theory and music history. When asked a question, he always has the answer. I take guitar with him. I liked him so much that my husband also started taking guitar lessons with him, but he teaches other things too. My hsuband enjoys the lessons as well. Johnny-Ray is a quality teacher. My husband and I are at different levels on the guitar and have different goals, and he created a separate and distinct lesson plan for each of us. He is always on time and ready to work. I have nothing but glowing things to say about him. A+ Experience."See more
