AJ and his coworker did a really nice job on installing this range hood with an exhaust vent. He had some issue to get the 6’’ hole saw from an online retailer for this specific task and it turned out not work as expected. But anyway, AJ managed to make it work. And the result is satisfying. Would recommend to anyone who needs range hood installed.

Our experience with Sam at R&D was great. He was quick to answer messages, give us quotes for repairing our roof and lawn maintenance for next season, and very friendly. It took just a few minutes for him to repair the roof and he took photos showing us the damage and after the repair. We'll definitely be in touch for repairing more once Spring comes. Thank you for being so fast to repair our roof! Highly recommended!

I called Kingdom Exteriors for my elderly mother who had a very leaky roof. She is very satisfied with her new roof. The job included a ridge vent, membrane roofing on a flat porch and shingles on the pitched roof. The price was right and the work was done expertly. Mr. Lamb's crew was prompt, professional and fast. The arrived in the morning and did not leave until the entire roof was completed that evening. They cleaned up completely and the house looks great!

Mr. Reedy promptly came out and did an estimate on our roof. He was a great assistance in working with our insurance company in getting funds for the installation of the roof. In less than a couple of weeks we had a new roof. Mr. Reedy is experienced, honest, and works to get the job done in a reasonable amount of time and kept us informed about the progress of the work being done. I would recommend him and in fact did recommend him to install another roof. We will use him on another project when we receive an estimate on it.

Corey and his team were excellent. They cleaned out our gutter clog, and then went on to help uncover a few additional problems on the roof, and fixed them for a small additional fee. He also quoted a new roof for us while he was there. We will be calling Corey the next time we have a roofing or gutter repair need!

I had the ridge vent replaced and vent boots replaced by F.V.C. roofing. Materials were dropped off and within a few days the work was completed. The crew worked efficiently and cleaned everything up before they left. I would use them again.

Skylights with remote control blinds were installed. Installers were very friendly. And they came out at no charge to tarp over a leaking skylight. Overall pleased, but I was hoping they would touch up the gaps around the windows or the scratches in the paint on the gutters from their ladders. I will have to do that or pay someone to do that. Otherwise I would have given them an Excellent.

Tom came out and was able to make the minor repairs of sealing around the vent that was leaking. I was happy it could all be done in the same trip. He inspected the roof and chimney to make certain no other issues were present.

Maksim fixed the flashing on my chimney and installed a EPDM roof on the flat portion of my home's roof that was leaking. Edward is incredibly quick with communication, his crew is on time no matter what, their work appears to be top notch, and Maksim in general has been the easiest company to work with since I bought my home. I highly recommend these guys for any project you may need from them. I already plan on having them refinish my box gutters and will use them for any other work we need in the future.

My family and I are very pleased with the work Gary did on our bathroom remodel. He and his helper, Eric, were courteous, professional, thoughtful, and thorough. Gary takes pride in his work and strives for excellence. He replaced our bathroom ceiling and removed our bathroom floor (including subfloor) and installed new wood and vinyl tiles. His attention to detail was impeccable, and he took the time to do things right. It was worth it!! Gary and Eric also did a great job cleaning up throughout the entire project. I intend to hire Gary again for more work in the future.

Walt Messer responded quickly to my on line request for a quote to replace my roof. He was able to schedule an estimate for that next day. The quote was presented immediately and the pricing was extremely fair. He and his installation team were courteous and professional from the initial contact through the completion of the project. The installation team arrived at the scheduled time, and began working immediately. They were able to complete the roof replacement in 1 day. The quality of their workmanship is excellent AND they cleaned up the construction debris as they went. I was really impressed that Walt arrived the day after the job was complete not only to inspect the job ,but he also walked around the house using a large magnet to pick up any nails left lying in the yard or flower beds. I would recommend this company to anyone without hesitation.

Dylan and his team did an excellent job from start to finish on our new roof installation! In addition to identifying the issues with our roof and working quickly with our insurance company, he also helped us identify the source of a leak in our fireplace and connected us with the right person to fix that problem as well. Dylan was extremely prompt with his responses to our questions/concerns, advised us in our color selection, stayed in constant communication with us during the process, and stayed well past the job was done making sure the area was clean and that we were satisfied. We can’t say enough how impressed we were with his responsiveness and availability to get our job done in a timely manner! We would highly recommend Dylan and his team at Riegler Contracting!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
