Basically, all my cousin really knew was that he wanted to play drums and he likes the music from Rock Band. As someone who's grown up with these games and can play the guitar, I understand why a lot of people prefer to just play the video game. It takes less time, it's a lot of fun, and the points system is rewarding. I honestly wasn't sure if my cousin would continue to want to take drumlessons after having the test of the real thing because sometimes the real instrument can be fun in it's own way too, it really is just sometimes more fun to play the game. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I've been playing the guitar for over ten years and still indulge in the fun of Guitar Hero, haha!
So color me elated when I find out later that my cousin is inspired to not only practice more but that he also wants to upgrade his drumset and continue to improve his skills. I've watched how Cameron engages with my cousin and he's really nice and helpful while also continuing to challenge him to play harder parts on the drums. I think he's helped inspire my cousin to pursue his studies in playing the drums and I think that's the best a student can hope for.
