I hired Jennifer to tutor my little sister, Ray, for her SATs online. In just 6 weeks, her score went up 90 points thanks to some hard work and Jennifer's methodology. Unfortunately for us, Jennifer wasn't the first tutor we worked with. We hired 2 other tutors before her. Both were more expensive (one was literally 10x more expensive) and neither were anywhere near as effective. Ray immediately clicked with Jennifer. Her style is encouraging and direct, and my sister appreciated the candor. I appreciated the way that Jennifer kept Ray motivated and gave her strategies and short-cuts she could use during the test to raise her score. The other thing I like about Jennifer is how easy she is to work with. She is exceptionally clear and responsive. She's flexible in the ways that are important to me, and fair. If you're at all hesitant about online tutoring for SATs, I'd encourage you to seriously consider it over live SAT tutoring. We loved not having to drive anywhere for tutoring. You just don't have the flexibility to squeeze a tutoring session in between tennis practice and dinner when you have to factor in even a short commute. Plus, my sister felt more comfortable studying for SATs in the same place she studies for everything else -- the desk in her bedroom. It was easier for her to get in the zone. Even if we brought a tutor to our home, she would have had to study in a more foreign environment - our dining room table, or some other joint family space. Jennifer is an amazing teacher and a warm soul, and for the quality and care she puts into her sessions, she could easily charge twice the price. This is a no-brainer, folks. I'd recommend Jennifer to any friend looking for a tutor without hesitation.
I have taken Spanish lessons from Elizabeth for about 2 years now. Being a native speaker, she knows the language well (grammar, idioms, vocabulary). Her English is also so good that I have no problems understanding her or her instructions. She has been really helpful for not only teaching me the basics of her language, but also giving me great feedback on my accent. Elizabeth is very fun and she makes the lessons interactive. You can tell she enjoys teaching. I highly recommend her for both tutoring and group classes.
Marissa is one of my best teachers I had. She has been my spoken English teacher for months. According to what I observed, she has much experience as English tutor: from the University of Oregon professor to a private tutor. She is patient and willing to help students. My English is improved very much. If someone asks me to choose a English tutor again, I will definitely choose Marissa for sure.
Pattie is a great fun teacher!
It's been amazing, the tutor is wonderful with my daughter, and as a family we are happy that she's getting the help she needs, overall is a great experience! Kristen is wonderful about everything. THANK YOU!!!
Armand is a very good teacher. I recently retired and was looking for someone to get me back on track with my Spanish after many years of neglect, and Armand certainly helped me do that. He provided excellent direction and suggestions on re-learning Spanish and is very knowledgeable about all Latin languages, which is also very helpful. I would highly recommend Armand to anyone looking for a Spanish tutor.
They have hundreds of tutors to help. This makes scheduling very easy. Especially if you do it online.
David Spencer is wonderful! I was looking for an algebra tutor for my 7th grade daughter when I found David through Thumbtack. He has been professional, punctual, polite, and consistently excellent in his work with my daughter. David has the ability to communicate the basics of algebra in a variety of ways that have helped my daughter really understand and apply the formulas and processes. He is fun, easy to work with, and very encouraging! So glad we found David Spencer!!
