Chris, did several jobs around my house both inside and out. I had excellent communication with Chris and he did a great job! I would most defiantly hire him again, in fact in a few months he is going to build me a wall to wall floor to ceiling bookcase. Will keep you posted. Hire him, he is good and fair! Thank you Chris, Linda S.S.

We used Eric and his team for an almost 2.5 month project after moving back into our old house that was rented out for several years. Initially we were only going to use them for external and internal painting and cabinet refinishing, but we quickly found that we liked working with them and appreciated Eric's commitment, his obvious knowledge and attention to detail which led to us hiring them to replace our flooring and other various projects around the house from the shower door installation, carpentry work to smaller electrical work. We lived in the house while Eric's team did the work, which can get pretty overwhelming. They communicated well, respected our privacy and worked with kids nap times, weekend trips, etc. I can honestly say that I could not imagine this project going any better considering the circumstances. We were satisfied with the final product and we found the pricing to be reasonable. We found especially the painting job to be top notch, this is definitely their specialty. Eric also wrapped some beams and accent walls in cedar. Those turned out awesome as well. I highly recommend using those guys for any project, big or small. They have pride in their work and at the end you will not feel taken advantage of, which is too often the case when working with other contractors.

I had a MDF kitchen sink door that needed replacing which had to exactly (or nearly so) match the OTHER ONE from the size to the stain itself. In order to reduce the price a bit I had to find the proper handles at a nearby hardware store, ones that would match the other kitchen cabinet handles in the entirety of the room (I ended up choosing ones that closely enough matched the others) and I had my new cabinet door just a week's time. At first I was unable to tell the difference between the two doors (the one he had to match and the one Ed made from scratch) and a carpenter who is building a house next to me was also unable to tell the difference. While I had no prior experience in having this type of project done I was a little surprised at the price of $300, but subsequent research found that this price was/is in the mid-range for this kind of project. I would highly recommend Ed to anyone who needs a smaller project done. Most if not all of the larger cabinet companies either were not interested or said I would have to wait at least a month for completion.

David and his team did a full remodel for me starting from adding a bedroom and bath to everything in between. ie. New kitchen cabinets new hvac, new roof, plumbing electric and finish carpentry. He had an extensive list of subcontractors that do amazing work for him and most important the're timely. I would definitely recommend rybak and Co for any of your house hold needs. He even made numerous trips to home Depot for extra materials and odd things without charging me for his time I really appreciated that.

I have purchased cabinets from Dave at Kitchen Concepts for several projects. He is a seasoned professional who knows his cabinet lines well and will help navigate the differences between them. Dave also stands behind his work and is interested in long term relationships which is very nice to find in this business.

We hired John to build cabinets for a complete custom kitchen remodel project and two custom bathrooms. The cabinets are all solid plywood and finished in a beautiful figured walnut. John’s attention to detail is nothing short of stellar! He matched the grain patterns from the top cabinets to the bottom cabinets and all the trim was perfectly cut and installed. Our project was quite extensive and because of the very fine quality of work we even had John finish five custom solid core doors for us. From the doors, to the custom freestanding oven hood, it’s all top quality work! Needless to say, I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in artisan quality work! John is a true craftsman. I hired Matt for several jobs around the house, including sheetrocking over old lathe and plaster in the kitchen; installing a new floor in the kitchen; painting walls in two rooms; cutting and installing baseboards in the kitchen; designing and building a large cabinet for the bathroom; and installing thresholds for two rooms. I found Matt to be extremely capable, on time, cleaned up after jobs, totally honest and reliable as well as a very pleasant person to have working in my home. He is creative and skilled. I am glad I found him and will call him back whenever I need help around the house. Highly recommended!!!

David Yoo remodeled my kitchen and bathroom for me and finished my basement for rentals. I asked for granite counters and new cabinets installed in the kitchen and it turned out amazing! For my bathroom he took out my old fiberglass shower and I had him install a new stand up shower completely tiled along with a new vanity and built-in's. The basement got a full remodel including an egress window, beams and bathroom and kitchen. Everything turned out beautiful and he is very professional and knows what he is doing. I would recommend him to anyone looking to remodel their place or their rental units.

David did two bathroom remodels for us, back to back. He was very professional and personable. David was on time and worked within the time frame he gave us. He built a custom 72 inch Vanity and matching medicine cabinet for us. His work and craftmanship are outstanding. His tile work was excellent as well. Would use him for our next remodel!!

Jack, installed our custom built Pantry, you cannot tell where the Pantry joins up to the existing cabinets. I'll hire Jack again for my next project. Oh, did I mention there were some very intricate cuts that had to be made to make this Pantry fit correctly. I now have a happy wife and a happy life thanks to Jack.

In December 2013 we experienced a complete water damage disaster due to frozen pipe issues while we were out of state. Fortunately for us, Alan was available to take total charge of reclamation, redesign of floor plan, obtaining bid estimates, acting as general manager, managing subcontractors, budget restraints, change orders, schedules, quality control and coordinating with us. Alan is extremely detail oriented and offered his expertise in the selection of plumbing fixtures, electrical and lighting fixtures, HVAC, millwork/doors, paint colors, flooring, cabinets throughout the home, granite counter tops, tile, mirrors and glass, security system, audio visual, window treatments, custom upholstery, central vac and clean crawl space. We now have a beautiful open floor concept. We are proud to show visitors our lovely home displaying Alan's talents.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

      How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
