Jesse is a great instructor with a prestigious background and education in singing and music in general. He knows what he's talking about. He's easy to get along and communicate with, and knows when to push you and how hard to push reach your goals. I had no music background at all and after A few lessons and his teachings, I already know I can go far in the music world. This guy is the real deal
I sent Phil Greek an accappella song that I wrote and had in my mind for many days. He listened to it and in the next day he sent me back a complete piano structure for my song, we talked about ideas that could make my song sound better. When I went to the studio we already has the idea of what we were doing, and took just a couple of hours to record a good sample a my song and also thought about new songs and ideas for some other pieces. Phil is very professional and creative. He would keep telling you new ideas for any type of music. I am willing to keep working in my songs with him, the only bad point is that I live far from the studio, but it is worth the driving.
I have been taking singing lessons with Alisdair and he is great! I've made significant progress in my singing, and his teaching technique is extremely effective, and is different to other vocal coaching I've received in the past. He is reliable, on-time, and was willing to start lessons right away.
Our daughter wanted singng lessons for a birthday present and we had been referred to Judy. We did not know what to expect at the first recital and were blown away by the talent and range of her students. She brings out the confidence to be themselves when performing. Judy is also so professional and on time. Very importatant to a mom of three!
I am so happy to have found Kris as my daughter's piano teacher! She is 8 years old, had some introductory, minimal piano lessons at a summer camp last year so basically a beginner student. We started once-a-week lessons in January and 4 months later...L loves playing the piano! She plays when she is getting ready for school, she plays when she gets home from school. I have to remind her about the week's lesson but more importantly, she is experimenting and enjoying making music and this is encouraged by Kris as well as the fundamentals. I have seen her confidence grow, be proud of her development, and practice towards a goal. Since the lessons, when she listens to music she sometimes tries to play the chords or mimic playing it while we are in the car. I can tell she is thinking about how she could play songs she enjoys. Wow! Kris is patient, focused on the student, provides clear guidance and tailors the lessons to her level. For example, if she needs more time to practice a newer concept, he understands this. He also challenges L to stretch her ability a bit each week which is perfect for her personality. He has a calm, positive, and encouraging presence. I am so appreciative of his dependability and flexibility to make up a lesson the two times we weren't able to make our scheduled lesson due to scheduled events. It's clear he cares about the consistency of her lessons/practice and is reasonable about the occasional scheduling hiccups in families. I highly recommend Kris!
Amazing teacher and amazing woman. Singing lessons with Sofia were an amazing journey - to vocal and personal freedom. The teaching method Sofia uses was a revolution, changing almost all I was taught about singin so far - and it brought wonderful, unexpected results! If you are lucky enough to have a chance to learn from her - wow!
Patient, intelligent, talented… Those are just three of the qualities that Maxime displays as a guitar teacher. I started taking guitar lessons from him last year and to be honest, at first I was somewhat concerned about taking music lessons over the Internet. But it’s worked out quite well. And although I am a beginning guitar player, I’m not an inexperienced music student. After undergraduate studies in music. I went to Juilliard on scholarship before going on to perform all over the world. Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, recording contract with Sony. Recorded at Abbey Rd. Studios with the London Philharmonic, PBS radio and TV performances with leading orchestras and opera companies and along the way more voice lessons than I can remember…. 😬 so if there’s one thing I’ve done a lot of it’s take private music lessons. From a lot of people. Some good, some bad, and some great. And I have no qualms about recommending Max to either a beginning or advanced guitar student. He does a great job and is very organized in his teaching. So if you’re thinking of taking lessons give him a try. I think you’ll be very happy. Did I mention that is also a really nice guy…? 😎 Les young
An experienced musician and music teacher, who is flexible and receptive, and who tailors curriculum to teach student's preference. As a result you get a student excited about music lessons-rare occurrence!
My 10 year old son started taking piano lessons with Deanna Maio at Confident Voice Studios a couple of months ago, and she has done a terrific job connecting with him and helping him advance his piano practice. We highly recommend Deanna!
🎵On the recommendation from a friend, my teenage daughter has been taking drumming lessons with Nick for the past couple of years. He has been a fantastic teacher, mentor and coach for my daughter. He is an extremely talented and seasoned musician who is a very good teacher, that package doesn't always come together but it does with Nick. He uses visual, auditory, lots of encouragement, lively conversation and patience to help her hear and feel the nuances of music. They have discussions about other artists and music she is interested in,as well as teaching to her level. I like this personal approach because she feels his interest in her, what else could a teenager ask for! He has also peaked her interested in watching how other artists create and has invited us to his performances and gigs, if you get a chance to catch him in action go see him play, a true artist . Nick also extends himself by taking the time to make sure her set is fitted to her and has helped us find good equipment. His studio is set up nicely as well. Nick has also been flexible with scheduling lessons and fitting her in when we have a time constrain. Nick Saume has been a great teacher and a wonderful person to work with 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵.
When we arrived for the initial consultation for singing lessons and my daughter saw the piano, she asked if she could take piano lessons first. So, we're now taking piano lessons from Bonnie. I find her to work very well with kids, my daughter is 8, and my daughter likes her and is happy too. She explains things clearly, gives praise when earned, and is helpful and pleasant to work with.
I came across Duncan on Thumbtack, while looking for someone to teach me to play the drums. I had recently been given a drum set from the guy I'm seeing, who used to be a professional drummer, so I had an incentive to learn. And to learn quickly. I'm so glad I found Duncan! Even though I'm not in any way musically gifted and have no sense of rhythm, Duncan had me playing four drum rhythms, seven fills, several variations of jazz beats, a disco beat, and basic bossanova within ten weeks, one 30 minute lesson per week. Obviously I'm not going to sound like a pro yet, but my friends and boyfriend were impressed. If you knew my utter lack of talent and rhythm, you'd know that's pretty amazing. As a kid I was forced to take piano lessons, and because I didn't enjoy them, I was hesitant about the drum lessons. However, the speed with which I've learned useful rhythms with Duncan's "hands on" method has made the drums way more fun than the piano. I practice daily and I love it, because Duncan doesn't waste my time with mindless beginner exercises, I'm actually playing the drums. Duncan's endorsed (or whatever the word is) by Vic Firth, the company that makes the drum sticks you see everywhere, so Duncan's given me free sticks, a set of brushes, and a bunch of sheet music. Oh, and while I had a head start from playing the piano, I was never really able to read piano music, even after five years. Yet somehow Duncan showed me how to read music for the drums in a single lesson, it turned out to be super easy, and now I can read anything you put in front of me. I'm amazed by the progress I've made thus far. Now after four months, I can play entire songs from start to finish, I can operate the hi-hat and bass drum at the same time with the pedals while using my hands on the toms and snare, and I have learned a wide variety of techniques Highly recommended!
My daughter loves Ms. Greta! We have been with her for over a year and my daughter never complains about going to piano lessons because she is always excited to show Ms. Greta what she has been working on. Very friendly atmosphere and great with kids!
We just started with Brenda, but so far things are going great! She is very patient and excellent at explaining things to my son, who is always full of questions. He is really enjoying lessons and learning the piano! We would definitely recommend her to others!
I have had 2 singing lessons so far from Eleni. I feel that I am improving already! She is very skilled and observant and can see quickly where I am holding tension and help guide me how to relax both physically and mentally in ways that instantly effect my voice in positive ways. I am very excited to continue working with her and I highly recommend her as a teacher. She is experienced, highly knowledgeable, friendly and comfortable to be around and effective!!
My daughter received piano lessons from teacher Heidi for 5 years, she was 10 years old when she started. Heidi is amazingly talented, very professional and she's very good with kids of all ages. Heidi knows how to keep her students engaged and excited about learning music. She is able to suit any learning style!
Haven't started lessons yet, but he is super responsive and friendly.
Dan has provided guitar and voice lessons for my son Connor and he has been wonderful. He is patient, flexible, and very professional, and Connor has dramatically improved in both areas. I highly recommend Dan as a voice and guitar instructor.
I have been taking piano lessons from Anna Fisher for about a year now and have progressed faster than I ever thought possible. I'm an adult returning student and truly value her teaching style. She's patient and kind, and she can answer any question I come up with. Anna is very knowledgeable and offers her students a well-rounded musical experience. Not only does she help me with my piano playing, she also is training me in music theory. I look forward to my lessons every week and leave inspired and encouraged to keep practicing and learning. Anna is truly an artist, and I would highly recommend her to others.
Really easy to work with flexible on the lessons appointments, and right to where you would like to get to music wise, and best, is one on one lessons
Picking the right teacher is a critical step in your development as a guitar player no matter what level you’re at. I’ve had several teachers over the years, some more helpful than others. Here are some reasons why Erick Hailstone is the right guitar teacher for me. • The biggest value-add for me is Erick’s ability to arrange a song, any song, from standard boring arrangement out of a book to a unbelievably cool song with a Jazz or Blues twist with alt-chords throughout. No other teach I’ve encountered in the Portland Metro area does this. And he’s fast at it. He uses great tools in the process, so we can share files and collaborate. The alt-chords are seriously a differentiator how a song sounds and come with a bit of a wow factor. • Erick has the ability to take any complex problem and break it down into smaller issues to work on. He completely gets it when it comes to figuring out “okay, I’m at this level of playing but I’d like to get over here.” He’s got the roadmap to take me there. • As a player, Erick has every single characteristic that I’ve dreamt of having since I was a kid. Great tone/sound. Flawless playing. Shreds when the song calls for it. Steely Dan to Wes Montgomery and everything in between. He makes it look so easy. From the first time I saw him play 20 years ago until today I walk away shaking my head thinking how I’d love to play like that. It’s absolutely incredible. • Some of my most valuable takeaways have been nuggets of advice that have nothing to do with guitar technique. I can’t stress how meaningful this has been at times. Things like “Rule #1 for a guitar player: Never get in the way of the singer.” • Studying with Erick has helped me build up a rich library of exercises to practice with. Arpeggios, Scales, and licks. Right hand technique (which is much more important and much more difficult than I ever imagined), tasty chords and of course, songs. • Erick truly understands the theory behind every bar in a song and can articulate what is going on there. His understanding of music theory is vast. • One of the things I’m into is recording and often times my lessons are around problem solving with the recording process. My recordings have improved dramatically since I started collaborating with Erick on them. By my own choice, I’ve spent entire lessons just learning the ins and outs of some of the tools like Pro Logic. I can’t tell you how much time this has save me from fishing around on you-tube. • Lastly, we’ve been collaborating remotely via a program called zoom so I never even leave the house. This has a huge convenience factor and saves a bunch of commute time. It works pretty well to use zoom plus I have the added benefit of being able to record the sessions and review them later on. As I said earlier, picking the right teacher is a fork in the road critical decision to your development. I’ve had no regrets and am seriously loving the results. Bill Toner Tualatin, OR
