Josh and the guys are great! They went above and beyond, clearing out gutters on the house and garage that I hadn't even thought of. The came for an estimate yesterday and were here at 8am today to do the work. Fast, efficient and super friendly. I can't recommend them enough!

I was able to make an appt within 2 days of my request for work. Zeev showed up on time and completed the work in a timely fashion, which included him taking a trip to the local Home Depot for materials. He repaired a leak/burst pipe above the garage ceiling and fixed my front yard faucet(handle broken off). The total cost for the repairs was more than reasonable, under $200. I would hire again.

These guys removed layers of old roofing shingles and shake, and replaced them with new asphalt shingles underlaid with all theaccouterments required. They removed an old aluminum awning off the back of our house, and repaired a portion of the facia that needed it after removing all the old roofing material. ————————————————————————————––––––––––––––––––––------------------ It went extremely well. We couldn't be happier with the results. The removal took their demo team about 18 hours to remove all of that old material. then the construction crew took over laying plywood, then waterproofing material, the underlayments, flashing, and those asphalt shingles I mentioned previously in about ten hours, this crew also reskinned our flat roof garage and painted the exposed flashing to match that skin. The following days crews showed up to remove the awning from the rear of our house—which took somewhere around 6 hours—and to install all of the gutters—no more than four hours. Our house isn't small, either. It's a two story 1,400 square foot tudor revival. So there are plenty of odd roofing angles and overlaps with which to contend. A few weeks back we discovered that a portion of the facia on the front of our house was much shorter that it should have been; this was due to the multiple layers of roofing that had been installed on top of each other previously, creating a need for a shorter facia board in this overlapping layer of the roof. So, we did what anyone who appreciates quality work would do, and called Giron Construction. One of the owners came out himself to deal with the problem, investigating the issue, and finding a solution that was suitable to both them and us, and at no extra charge. It was the most ideal situation we could have hoped for when discovering a problem.

I was very pleased with Fernando and his painting company. He was very kind enough to come for a free estimate and explain me the painting process and the time required for painting. He also gave me options and advised me on the color combinations for the exterior paint. He also painted my garge interior and the front doors with beautiful colors. I am very happy with the color output I will surely recommend Damas Painting company. Great and honest guys..

They were the only outfit to actually offer a bid on a new TPO flat roof on a 16x20' garage, and the price seemed fair. There were some communication issues - they never called when they were late, and had to postpone the job a day due to the job lead having a family emergency - but when reached were upfront and courteous. Job was done well, they didn't leave a mess and were pleasant onsite.

I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of both ryan, Jake and the rest of the team. He gave me a very competitive bid on drywalling my cottage, but also installed my French doors so I didn't have to hire someone else. I was away on business so I wasn't even on site, but ryan sent me pics as they progressed with there work. If you need a drywall specialist, this company is excellent, far exceeded my expectations . Thank you Ryan Joe P

My new paint looks great. They did a perfect job at cutting in my dark wall colors against the white ceiling which I was worried about. Unfortunately they went overtime and weren’t able to get everything done by the date I needed it which delayed my move a day. They were very apologetic about it. The only issue with the work quality was the baseboards and doors. Some of the baseboards were not primed or painted till the last day and they got gummy because they put on coats too close together and spots were missed. Some of the doors didn’t get covered well. But that was it considering they painted my entire interior. Otherwise their work was great!

Keith Rose came in as a handyman on a project and did a great job. I had several small unfinished projects such as changing locks, repairing a bathroom ventilation fan, troubleshooting a couple electrical issues, replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, repairing closet doors... Very professional, brought his own tools and went right to work. What Keith quoted was what we paid. Very professional and I recommend you call him today!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you fix a broken garage door?

Garage door problems don’t have to mean the end of the world. Garage door repair is typically a one-day process and can be done for only a few hundred dollars. Common garage door repair requests include fixing slow or erratic garage doors, addressing strange sounds coming from the garage door or motor, fixing cosmetic damage such as dents or scrapes, repairing broken doors that are stuck open or closed, and troubleshooting inoperable doors.

The two main garage door operating mechanisms are sectional roll-ups or tilt-ups. Garage door repair services can fix single-car, double-car or RV-height doors. Your garage door may be made of wood, steel, aluminum, masonite, vinyl, fiberglass or another material. The type of garage door repair you need really depends on the type of garage door you have and the issue at hand. Garage door repair pros often charge a flat service call fee to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. For customers who choose to have the repair done, the service call fee may be applied to the first hour of labor (including time to make the diagnosis). If your garage door is under warranty, the repair may be free of charge.

Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How much does it cost to install a new garage door opener?

Your new garage door opener cost will vary based on the model you purchase and how long installation takes. Typically, installation pros charge by the hour, although if the pro is also selling the garage door opener they may have a flat fee for the product with installation. The national average for new garage door opener costs (with installation) is between $390 and $650, although the national average cost for the opener purchased alone may be in the $150-$300 range. The three most common types of openers are chain-drive, screw-drive and belt-drive. The chain-drive costs the least but makes the most noise. The belt-drive is typically the quietest and the most expensive. You can expect to pay about the same amount for installation for any of the three styles. The lifespan of a garage door opener is approximately 10 years, depending on quality. A pro may provide opener repairs for the cost of their service call fee or they may charge a flat fee, such as $100 for opener repair. Here are some examples of new garage door opener average costs, including installation:

  • Contractor-grade garage door opener with installation: $300.
  • Chain-drive opener with installation and one remote: $350.
  • Belt-drive opener with installation and two remotes: $400
  • Top-of-the-line opener with ¾-horsepower battery backup, belt drive and nearly soundless operation: $475
    • The majority of higher-end garage door openers are “smart” products and will connect via app to your smartphone for remote access.
