It went great! The video shoot was way better than I could have ever imagined. It was easy and really flowed well with our work environment without causing interruptions. We will be hiring this company for all of our corporate video needs from now on.

We loved working with Jerrad and Front Porch Branding. They were responsive, listened to our needs and were just nice people! We initially hired them to make one video and ended up having them create 9 for us. They captured what we wanted and we will definitely hire them again.

Richard received my video of skydive taken with go pro and several video clips my wife took from the ground; my vision was soaring like an eagle , so he found clips of eagles, incorporated John Denver RMH and hawks and eagle music in background ending with eagles in a great 11 minute flight of my soaring like an eagle. It highly impressive to a few that have reacted with good emotion. I highly recommend richard for your videos.

We got a family portrait with parents taken by the studios in Minneapolis recently. The pictures came out great and we are receiving rave reviews for it. We also had a pre-wedding video shoot done which was amazing fun. It captured our relationship perfectly and has become a memory we will always cherish - A & P

We hired ed to film our stand up comedy show. There wer 20 comedians to record. The audio turned out really well since he plugged into the Pa system. Ed was on time. He worked in not ideal circumstances and the video turned out great. We'll hire him again in the future.

We LOVE our video created by Don Campbell at WeCreate Tv! Don was professional, kept me informed during the entire process and turned out a fantastic product. He even continued to send me thumbnails to use for my personal site after he completed the video. The editing of the video he shot was brilliant and just what we were looking for. I would highly recommend WeCreate Tv to anyone who has a story to tell and needs someone to tell it with Video. Thanks Don!!

Our company had a very unique need to produce video content in a Dentist's office setting. We were working with actual dentists and patients--not models or hired actors. This is always a challenge, but Jeff brought some good ideas and structure to this shoot. It was a tremendous success! He even made suggestions that we never even thought to do, like ask a question a certain way in the interview, or show someone performing a certain function at the office. He was kind, professional, and very easy to work with from start to finish. The quality of the videos we had produced are exceptional. He understood the look and feel of our brand, and made an effort to really understand our product--which is not as easy as you might think! I hope to work with Jeff and his team again in the future.

They did our wedding video and did an AMAZING job! Everything about the video was perfection and makes me cry every time! I can't even count how many compliments we received for our wedding video. David, Olivia, and Johnathan were very professional and got tons of footage between the three of them. They used two cameras and a drone and the footage they combined for the video was breathtaking. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!

Initially right off the bat, Matt was very helpful and friendly when conducting a photo shoot I wanted! He helped me come up with some of the ideas on the pictures that were really creative and turned out amazing. He was very quick with editing the pictures and sending them to me via email. Again, everything ran smoothly and fast and Matt accommodated all my wants and needs for the photo shoot!

It could've all been a disaster, but it wasn't. Most people have the notion that super heroes wear capes and/or a mask, but I don't. Crystal Genes is a superhero, who by the way happens to be a professional photographer. Our engagement photo shoot was scheduled for a Friday evening but somehow, I had the belief that it was scheduled on Thursday. My fiancée payed for her makeup to be done that Thursday, we rushed home to get ready, we arrived at the meeting point for our shoot 15 minutes before the start time. And as I messaged Crystal that we were at the location, she messaged me back, confused because our photo shoot wasn't that day but the following evening. My heart sank immediately. I can't believe I was so anxious to take our engagement pictures that I "assumed" it was on Thursday instead of Friday. Luckily, Crystal and Rob were sympathetic enough to reschedule their Thursday evening plans to accommodate this last minute change for my fiancée and I. It could've been a disaster, but it wasn't. So thank you and Rob for saving the day. -Jay and Susan

Thanks for the opportunity - such an extraordinary talent and professional, a joy to work with, who was referred to me by a colleague I respect and admire - well, that's enough for me. Carey is a wonderful creative collaborator, as is her entire organization. First of all, Carey is a remarkable listener, who reviewed my goals and needs for the video, including sound, editing, titling, then offered tactful suggestions for improvement and/or variations on the theme, ran those by me, and we reached a creative understanding of how to proceed, painlessly. The folks at AARP/Oregon were very pleased with the results - and you'll find the program at: http://www.lifeloveandhealth.com/aarp%E2%80%94life-reimagined/ Please, if you have any questions, contact me at: chris@bodylanguage.org

Tamara Sloboda was a phenomenal videographer to work with. My wife and I are able to relive our best day of our lives through the amazing wedding video that was created by TessFilms. I would highly consider using her for your wedding. Very professional, always serious, business like and very easy to work with. The communication was important for us and she went above and beyond what we expected. The best surprise was when we were handed our video in a little cute, wrapped present. Thank you so much Tamara Sloboda!!!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Bethany! Even though she had not shot in San Francisco before our wedding, she did her due diligence and found beautiful, unique, one-of-a-kind spots to shoot us in on our wedding day. She created images that I could never have imagined. I also let her know about some of my concerns (not being photogenic) and she listened to my concerns and was so kind about them. She shot me in a way that addressed those concerns so that I absolutely LOVE our wedding pictures. I would recommend her for any wedding, and would hire her again on the spot.

Amy and her team are AMAZING! So much fun to work with! I met with her and her team over coffee before booking her for our engagement photos. We loved them so much! We then booked her to do videos and photos of our wedding day. She captured so many beautiful memories! I am forever grateful for her and her team! Her work was prompt and exactly what I wanted AND within my budget! She is my photographer that I refer to all of my family and friends!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

      • Package 1: $1,400
        • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
        • Two cameras with audio equipment.
        • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
        • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
      • Package 2: $1,800
        • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
