Tony is an incredible chef and true expert in entertaining! He was so accommodating to the changing headcount of a bachelorette party and even included a vegetarian option with every course to satisfy all the dietary needs at the event. He was a one man show and prepared four courses with wine pairings for 17 rowdy women in the Poconos and we all agreed that meal was the highlight of a bachelorette weekend. I'm so thankful to Tony for providing such excellent service and being so friendly and lovely. Thank goodness he left business cards because we all grabbed them up and are looking for excuses to hire him again.

Miranda Catering (Mike and Trish) not only provided outstanding food, service, attention to detail and at an affordable price. The buffet dinner was hot, tasty and plentiful. Our guests were not only impressed with the seminar content where we at our Primerica Financial Seminars teach families how to become debt free, properly protected and financially independent; but they also enjoyed the delicious food prepared by Mike and Trish. We are looking forward to Mike and Trish at Miranda to caterer our next quarterly Primerica Dinner/Seminar on June 27th. If you are planning an event, give them a call. Thank you Mike and Trish. I had a huge event for a organization I'm apart of on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the park. K. Artisme, was simple amazing! She was on time, friendly and very patience with all the children. She had a line from the moment she open until our event was over 12-5. The children and parents were very happy with her work. I would recommend her to everyone! I can't thank you enough for such a beautiful and fun day with you. We will most definitely use you again. Thank You!!! Keep up the Great Work! :) Debbie

I have been planning parties and photograph many events as well, but when it was finally my wedding day, I knew I couldn't do it alone. Clesha and her team at Starkey Party Planning came to my rescue! I have never worked with such an amazing and understanding event planner. Clesha made me feel like a queen on my wedding day and informed me every step of the way. She even worked with the extra decorations that my mom just needed to have in the wedding. The team was super flexible with timing and payment. Please look no other place than Starkey Party Planning. Thank you so much for everything! From my ceremony to the reception was PERFECT! I had guests compliment me on how beautiful everything was and I passed along your information. Thank you for being genuinely sweet and understanding. You will definitely be the first I will call for my next event! Sidney Lyndhurst, NJ Wedding 4/15/17

DJ King Leo was hired to DJ my daughters sweet 16 event. He arrived on time he answered questions professionally, he was interactive with the kids. His music was exactly what the children wanted to hear. The crowd never sat down, he made it easy for the kids to enjoy themselves on the dance floor. He was a pleasant addition to the party and made the party phenomenal! I would refer him to anyone who was having any type of event because as a professional DJ he can cater to any age at any type of event. Pound for pound he won this round hands down!!

Working with Terri was truly a joy...she's very professional...over the course of planning, she reached out to me several times not regarding the planning but solely to check on me because wedding planning can become stressful and that was greatly appreciated

Briana and The Bridal Concierge are exactly the team you want in the final weeks before your wedding. Hiring them was the best decision of our entire planning process. I found Briana and team to be incredibly positive, upbeat, organized, trustworthy, efficient and effective. They added calm and organization to what can otherwise be a chaotic process, especially in the final weeks before the big day. We hired The Bridal Concierge to help with planning and logistics for the final 6-8 weeks before our wedding in New Hope. Briana coordinated with our various planners, provided insightful input on various design and scheduling questions, developed the game plan for run-of-show, handled transportation of our various items from our home in Philadelphia to our venue in New Hope (e.g., wedding accessories, favors, room bags), and managed the communications and coordination to bring everything to life during our wedding weekend. Everything was incredibly organized and the team managed it all with a positive attitude, calm and assuring demeanor, experienced expertise, and hands-on project management. Even when we had last minute updates to guest counts and table cards, the team didn't skip a beat and even worked behind the scenes to handle details I had overlooked. As I said earlier, hiring this team was our best decision. We were able to enjoy our wedding weekend without worry and trusted Briana and team as master orchestrators. And did they deliver! I wanted to pinch myself throughout the day as I watched everything come to life without hiccup and I was so grateful for all the work The Bridal Concierge did to allow my husband and our families to just enjoy the day, without stress over various logistics. The day was nothing short of perfection - we received similar feedback from guests who shared their awe at how beautifully everything was run and how unbelievably perfect the day was. It truly was a magical experience. Sincere thanks again to Briana and team - we're so grateful for their commitment to excellence and we're so happy to have them as part of our wedding story. We could not have had a better experience.

Chaad and his team are truly amazing. Recently, I had a hip hop 80’s party, and each time I begin to feel stressed, Chaad and his team jumped in to make sure everything went smoothly as planned. Amongst all of the catering companies I’ve contacted, Ster Catering was the only one who provided samples of the foods I wanted served at my party. This is a huge plus and I wish other catering companies offered this option. On the day of my event, Chaad and his team arrived early. They assisted with decorating (which they did not have to do). They also provided great food and drinks which everyone loved. I highly recommend Ster Catering and I would definitely hire Chaad and his team for another event.

Chelsea was my wedding planner and was absolutely incredible! My husband and I had been dumped for our initial wedding venue two short months before our wedding. We also had just switched new jobs so a lot was going on with not much time to plan. We knew our wedding date would remain the same though and thankfully that was when Chelsea was sent to us! Chelsea went above and beyond making dreams come true for us that we did not even think were possible!! Anytime things even attempted to become overwhelming, she handle everything every time! Going above and beyond is actually an understatement with the capabilities of Chelsea’s beautiful mind! June 10, 2018 was our wedding day and the best day of my life, and I owe so much to Chelsea!! Her ideas are genius and endless, and she truly is unstoppable making any party that much more glorious!

Shannon was easy to work with, she was flexible when serving time of the food was pushed to a later time. She anticipated what needed to be done during the event and really took a large load off our back as hosts, helping to set up the food , keeping it warm and cleaned up after the event . I would hire her again!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

        • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
        • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
        • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
        • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
        • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
        • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
        • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
        • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
        • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

        • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
        • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
        • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
        • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

        • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
        • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
        • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
        • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
        • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
        • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
