About

Why my work stands out from others would be because I am very patient. living with a learning disabilities I have learned to view music education from many different angles. That can be helpful when showing concepts and making it easier for the student to understand. I'm also a karaoke host in the evenings. So I use my karaoke tracks for students to sing against. that way I can concentrate on your singing technique and not playing songs on my guitar/ piano. As far as guitar/ piano goes, being a DJ helps me understand the broad spectrum of music to help craft is students style.

Valerie Scott's piano lessons focus on individual instruction for adults and children. I'm patient, an experienced teacher, classically trained and oriented but will embrace all styles. I really enjoy working with children and am very understanding and supportive of adults who are learning for the first time or who have decided to return after many years. I am very knowledgeable in both music history and theory, so that you will not only learn the "how to's" but also the "why's" thus, affording you a well-rounded musical experience at the keyboard. I studied music at both Queens College and Marywood University and privately, with two concert pianists. Awaken the musical genius in you or someone you love! I offer very reasonable rates. Children with special needs are welcome!

We teach music, not just songs. 10 university-trained instructors. 43 years in music education

About

Completely tailor-made, individualized private instruction in piano and voice. Teaching ages 3-103 for over 43 years. All levels, all types of music. I do not use a series of pre-formatted lesson books written by some stranger who has never met you or your child! I have worked with students with learning, attention and physical disabilities. This is not the type of instruction your Mother and Father remember. No “same ole, same ole” of practicing scales ad-nauseam. My focus is on enhancing and promoting self-esteem and JOY!

I have been playing guitar since I was 12. I am 24 now and during the duration of that time, I have had various teachers and acquired encyclopedia amounts of information about guitar and teach from out my house the very thing's I've been taught at varying degrees of the guitar players’ abilities. I have a lot of students who are very new at playing whom have to get the dexterity built up in their fingers and the knowledge of the fret board in the early lessons. I have students who are going to be giving me a run for my money soon! Practice is everything, and most importantly, it's about having fun while learning!
