I have been so busy with my wedding and honeymoon I put this off but wanted to share my excellent experience with Steve as a trainer and massage therapist. I was referred to him by a friend for a sports massage. I have to say he was and still gives the best massage I have ever had. As an athlete my muscles always ached and he knows just how to get at the problem areas and make me feel so much better. As a trainer I wanted to tighten up for my wedding and he helped me do just that. I made such great gains in muscle tone I continue to work out with him. By the way I looked great for my wedding and honeymoon. I rocked my bikini thanks to him. I would recommend Steve to anyone who wants a great massage or to train with a detail oriented and results driven coach. Thanks Steve and my husband thanks you too.
When I started working with Michelle my goals were to improve myself physically and spiritually by stepping out of my normal workouts and comfort zone because they were no longer working for me. Since working with Michelle she has inspired me to reach for new goals by setting and creating new and out of the box workouts that alone I never would have imagined possible. Trusting Michelle in this way and following her lead has shown me that I am stronger than I thought. She has given me a new confidence to see my capacity for accomplishing my dreams in all areas of my life. What is different about Michelle that I have not found in other trainers is that she cares about all of me and is invested in my whole life. She is not only a trainer but has become a friend and a mentor to me.
Richard has been my trainer for 2.5 years. I've never had a trainer before. Now I can't imagine working with anyone else. First of all he's just a really mellow, genuine, caring person. He never gets distracted while training me and focuses on everything I'm doing. He's very comfortable training both men and women of any age group. And he treats me like an equal. He's never condescending when I question something. He's tough when he wants you to just push that next lift and I had to learn to trust him. But he's also understanding if you don't feel well. Pretty quickly he learns his clients strengths and weaknesses. With me it was always trying to conserve energy so I could do more rep.'s He realized thats how I was thinking! And then spent many sessions teaching me to change that habit. He's got a sixth sense for all this. Just by watching you he can figure out how you're thinking while you train. Initially I was expecting him to look at me and think "older woman, I won't push too much". I had seen that mentality with other trainers at the same gym. Which would have been insulting. I was SO wrong! He trained me as if I was getting ready for my sport. I was already in good cardio shape but wanted to build muscle and get stronger. With Richard I could not believe how I was lifting 6 months along. I would never have believed I could become as strong as I am. He taught me so many techniques to mentally open up to lifting to my full potential. And he taught me good lifting technique so I have not had one injury in all this time. He also changes the work-out the second he feels you've gotten comfortable with it. Which I hate but is necessary! He's passionate about his career and you can tell he feels great when he sees that you're improving. He's also very knowledgeable about the role nutrition plays and stressed how important it was to allow some weight gain, steering me away from obsessing about the scale. I am really proud of my accomplishments. I work out in a gym that can be very intimidating when you wander near the free weights. All young guys full of machismo. But with Richard's training I walk in there alone now and I know what I'm doing. His training has greatly improved my confidence. It's affected my whole life, not just my work out : )
Johnny is the man. I wasn't sure what to expect as I spend a good amount of time in the gym already, but from the start he's given me challenging workouts that are specific to my needs and different than my normal routine. He's very easy to talk to and makes the whole workout enjoyable but definitely challenging. I'm currently working with him to prep for my first physique competition and he's making the process (that's quite challenging) very attainable. I highly recommend him!
Trent is a very professional trainer , he is always on time , very flexible and always easy to reach. During the first consultation all questions were answered letting me know what to expect. I started training with him 3 weeks ago and he helped me a lot with building my body and keep me strong. You should expect to have a hard workout with him , but the most interesting thing about working with Trent that he's always changing the way of the workouts , so every time you are doing a new workout so you can't get boring. I will have him as my personal trainer untill the last day of my vacation here.
I've been going to the gym regularly since after college and during that time, my body never seemed to change - no matter how much I thought I was pushing myself the muscle never appeared. Going to the gym had also become boring, but I didn't feel comfortable trying new workouts. I had previously written off training after witnessing sessions at my previous gym - too many trainers just barking orders and looking uninterested. At the urging of a friend though I gave Jeff a shot and after my first session knew I had struck gold. When you're training with Jeff he is totally focused on you - figuring out your short and long term goals, working with you to overcome obstacles, and scrutinizing the mechanics of your body's movement and how it affects your workouts. Over the last 8 months I have learned an incredible amount - things about my own body, new movements and workouts, and what it really means to push yourself. I have a newfound confidence when working out by myself that I didn't have before. All this had lead to two things; first I am actually seeing results! Muscle where there hasn't been before and generally feel stronger and healthier than I have in the past. More important though, Jeff has made working out fun - I'm actually enjoying workouts and not thinking of it as a chore. I'm looking forward to many many future sessions with Jeff and highly recommend him to anyone looking for training.
There are not enough words to explain how happy I am to have found Sean as my personal trainer at Always Strength Fitness. I have been working with him for ~ 4 months (3X a week for 30-60 min sessions) and I don't plan on stopping (unless Sean or I leave Boston :)) I found Sean on Thumbtack (after dealing with a few terrible Thumbtack trainer) and decided to "hire" him & continue our sessions for a number of reasons: 1) Sean has an Incredible Work Ethic and is an All Around Nice Guy- Sean is fully present during our sessions (not on his cell phone or taking selfies or multi-tasking). It helps me be accountable for showing up 100% during each session so I get THE MOST out of each and every workout. 2) Deeply Knowledgeable about Fitness, how the body works/functions, dealing with previous ailments & injuries, mind-body connection, etc - I had two injuries that I was working through and serious muscle imbalances that were getting in the way of being able to advance my strength training progress. Due to our workouts, I have consistently gotten stronger mentally & physically on all levels. Every day activities like carrying my 40 lbs son down a hallway with two giant bags of groceries to doubling the # of Harvard stadium steps in 30 min vs. when I first started working with Sean-- all have seen drastic improvements (night & day) in my endurance and strength. My body is no longer breaking down because Sean is helping me regain strength where I need it, building up strength where I can, and guiding me step-by-step to be even stronger. 3) The coolest part about our workouts is how strong mentally I've grown through our sessions, which has benefits for me in all aspects of my life. When I started working with Sean, I was super insecure about my "lack of fitness, strength, and ability"-- I was never an athlete or active as a kid. Every time I work with Sean and start a new workout, I swear on my life, before the reps, that there is absolutely no way I can complete the workout that he has laid out for me. But somehow with his guidance, positive reinforcement, and million-dollar smile, I do-- even with more reps, more weight, more difficulty, etc. I find myself mentally becoming stronger with each work out and being able to apply that new mental strength to everyday stresses and challenges at work and life. 3) Convenient location & logistics - Always Strength Fitness is conveniently located in Brighton/Allston with covered parking. They have all the equipment and tools to give you a comprehensive workout, regardless of your goals. Finding a time to train with Sean was easy and he's pretty easy to get a hold of and coordinate logistics, etc week to week, which I appreciate. There are definitely so many other reasons why you should work with Always Strength Fitness-- the ones I listed above are unique to what I was looking for, which I 100% found in working with Sean. If you have other goals that maybe I didn't list in my review, I am pretty sure Sean or any of the trainers with Always Strength Fitness will find a way to help you reach them without a sweat.
I've been training with Debi for 4 months now. Having had 2 back surgeries, I was out of shape but hesitant to get back into the gym. Debi is understanding of this and any other anxiety, and is very encouraging. She really listens, and has the knowledge to implement a plan to help you reach your goals. I have always loved working with weights but wasn't sure if I'd regain my strength. Well, I've lost weight, gained strength and endurance beyond my expectations thus far; and I'm looking to compete in a powerlifting competition in 2 weeks. I'm not done improving yet, and I know Debi will be there every step of the way.
When I first met Cara, I knew I wanted to work with her. We got along, and I loved her energy. Her 18+ year experience shows in her knowledge about meal plans, posing and workouts. I had given her a tough task to compete in my first show 6 weeks out. Some said it wasn't possible, but I was confident that she would get me there in a safe and healthy way. She really cares about training her clients the right way, preserving muscle and cutting the fat, and eating! Every time I had a question or reached out to her, she was responsive, no matter what time it was. The day of my competition, she specially requested a breakfast for me, hand delivered it to my hotel room, and rushed back to the hotel room when I realized I forgot my jewelry. She always went that extra mile. Long story short, I reached my competition body fat/weight goal in time. I can't wait to start training again for my next shows with Cara! I highly recommend her to anyone who is competing in their first show, or who is thinking about switching to a new coach.
Ray was an amazing trainer for the few weeks I had him! He is there for the client and is dedicated to helping me reach my goal. Sad that I had to cut the program short, unexpected circumstances but given the chance, I would work with Ray again!
Jack is an amazing trainer! He will design a workout and nutrition routine that caters to his clients specific needs (weight loss, toning). He Is very easy to work with, a great motivator and always changes up workouts every session which keeps it fun! I would highly recommend Jack to anyone no matter what their personal fitness goals are - you will not be disappointed!

I have worked with other trainers in the past, but none had as much passion or dedication for their profession and their clients. For the past three years, Jamie has worked with me on achieving my goals and then some. He pays attention to what is working and what is not, and adjusts the workout accordingly. You don't just go through the motions when you workout with Jamie. He will explain to you why you do each exercise, helps you understand the benefits of each move, and how it relates to achieving your goals. I highly recommend Jamie as a personal trainer.

Jason is an excellent personal trainer, and someone I would highly recommend to friends and family of all fitness levels. I worked out with Jason for about 4 months leading up to my destination wedding, and certainly glad that I did. Jason is extremely knowledgeable in both fitness and nutrition and was able to tailor a program specifically to me and all my imperfections. Jason is extremely personable and easy to talk to and gives you that feeling of "oh yeah maybe I can do this". In terms of results you will be optimizing every second of the time you spend in the gym when you work out with Jason. He will make certain you are doing exactly what you need to be doing, and exactly when you need to be doing it. If you're like me and get in the gym and stare at the equipment wondering what to do next, that problem will quickly be solved. Throw out all the excuses we all use, bad knee, shoulder injury, no time, etc. Give Jason a call, get in for a consult, and let him help get you back on track. I was a 30 something newbie to working and out and after a few months with Jason I gained enough confidence in my ability to work out productively and safely enough that I was able to venture out on my own. When I need that kick in the butt to get me reinvigorated I know who to call. I was enjoying my sessions with Jason so much, that I started bringing my wife. Jason was able to put something together where she and I could work out together and have fun doing it. I was really impressed with how well he adapted to my request and took time to develop a workout routine for 2 people that kept us both moving without too much wait time between exercises. Some even involved a little healthy competition, which was motivational. I could go on and on but very sincerely and highly recommend Jason.

I've always asked myself, "how in the world can anyone actually ENJOY working out?" I've been to tons of gyms: Planet Fitness, Maxx, A few boxing gyms.. But not once did I ever "enjoy" working out. I found Steve through an app as I was looking for personal training to supplement my other trainer. When I met Steve in person, it blew my mind how much energy he had, despite it being 8:30pm. After training with Steve now for about a month, I've found that his energy wasn't just for show. With the passion he maintains for helping all of his members, Its clear that his high positive energy is just who he is as a person and as a coach. Steve takes a customized approach to each of his clients wether it's personal training, small group trainings, or any general members of his gym. He's always giving people advice and critiques on how to improve their form to get max results. As a pretty anti-social gym-goer, I was truly terrified to workout in the small group trainings. I don't like feeling like I have to race or compete with anyone. After a few classes, I realized that with the family environment Steve's personality brings to the room, that the group trainings are based on comradery, not competition. I really like the people that I've met at his gym and they've welcomed me with open arms. It only took a month for me to find an answer to my original question. People enjoy working out when they are inspired. Since meeting Steve, I've been inspired to run faster, lift heavier, and frankly, smile more. Cody is extremely knowledgeable and capable of tailoring strength, conditioning and longer-term training plans to meet the needs of individual athletes. In my younger year, I was a serious athlete and fortunate to work with many talented coaches. Now older, I'm amazed at how much I continue to learn from Cody. My strength, flexibility and speed have all improved. After many years away from competition, I'm once again having fun swimming, biking and running to train for TRI events. Thanks to Cody, who designs individualized workouts and longer-term plans that are both challenging and interesting, I'm enjoying the time that I have to devote to training, more than I ever have.
Will is an amazing personal trainer. I originally came to Will to get help for preparing for the bikini round in an upcoming pageant. Unlike other trainers he was not just trying to help me get "skinny" as fast as they could. Instead he helped me achieve my outward fitness goals, by creating a strong base that improved my strength and health, along with my fitness knowledge. After the pageant I stayed with him for strength training for my college lacrosse season. He took into account my previous injuries during our work outs, and even helped rehabilitate me from them. On the technical side Will was very professional, knew what he was doing and constantly challenged me. He gave me the tools to not only be fit, but stay fit and in a healthy sustainable way. On the personal side he became a great friend over the years, who helped me view my body in a better way, and made working out fun. He does a great job at gaging your personality to find out what he needs to do to push you to do your greatest. For me, I needed a friend who wasn't afraid to sass me and that's exactly what I got. I would highly recommend Will to anyone who truly wants a sustainable healthy outcome. If you are looking for lazy short cuts he is not the man for you. If you are willing to work hard and make a lifestyle change he will get you to where you want to be.
Marisa is an amazing trainer, Ive been working with her for the past year and 1/2 and I couldnt be more happy. I was a competitive athlete all throughout High School, which at that time, made it easy to stay in shape. Growing up I had an extremely fast metabolism which meant I was used to eating whatever I wanted. After college, I soon realized that I had let myself get into extremely bad shape, and had formed many horrible eating habits, I realized that I actually had no idea how to workout on my own and had no idea about nutrition, so I went on the hunt for a personal trainer. I was unsure of what to expect , but Marisa offered the first session free of charge, and after that one session, I knew that I had found exactly what I was looking for. I signed up for one of her package deals. She created a program that was specifically tailored to my wants and needs, and she switches it up every 2 weeks so that I dont get bored or plateau. I am amazed at the results that I have seen, and couldnt havent done it without her. She gives great nutritional advice to incorporate into my fitness routine and I always look forward to our sessions because I know they will both be fun and productive. She has such a positive energy about her and definitely practices what she preaches. With her help Ive learned to not just have a workout routine, but to actually start living a happy healthy lifestyle. I could not recommend a better personal trainer to anyone!
