FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $25 for half hour lessons or $45 for hour-long lessons.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certainly! I firmly believe that no matter how old you are, there is always room for improvement! As a Music Education major in college, I attended SCMEA (South Carolina Music Educators Association) conferences, which always provided a renewed passion for teaching. As a flutist, I attend various flute festivals and recitals whenever possible. Last summer, I attended the NFA (National Flute Association) convention in Charlotte, NC, which was more than inspiring for me as both a performer and a teacher. During the summer of 2012, I spent a week in Tennessee to receive training for Suzuki Flute Certification which provided me with all sorts of new ideas and tools for teaching flute!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started taking piano lessons in the 1st grade, following in the steps of my older brother and sister. Several years later, I began playing the flute in beginner band. I always loved band, but I didn't really develop a love for the flute until high school. When I was in 9th grade, I had some people in my church ask me to teach piano and flute lessons to their children. I fell in love with teaching then, and have been doing it ever since.
