FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Handy Co. charges on a per project basis, not hourly. We will create an estimate that breaks down labor and materials so you can clearly see where your money is going. We're also experimenting with a flat $500 day fee, whether you need a tile backsplash installed, flooring repair or some steps built- a flat daily fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Handy Co. meets with homeowners during the estimate phase to see everything in person and get a good idea on the project. From there we create the actual estimate on our software based on the ideas, wants and needs of the homeowners. At this time homeowners are encouraged to make any rough changes they see, if everything is correct they would sign and return with a deposit to get on the schedule. Roughly a week before the project is set to start someone from Handy Co. will call to confirm everything and get ready for the start date.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained under four general contractors (one being family who did not go easy on me lol) I've studied the builders code books for SC with the hopes of getting my GC license eventually. I've passed a Schluter Materials Installation class and have had 12 years of trial, error and proof. Book smarts help but nothing is substitute for putting your hands on the materials and doing it yourself.
