Alex is a wonderful tutor. Alex helped me prepare for our 300 level Spanish Lit exam. While preparing, I was incredibly surprised of his acquired knowledge, not just with the material he knew for the exam, but of the entire Spanish language. Needless to say, I felt well prepared going into the exam and had performed really well. I recommend Alex because he really knows his Spanish, is very personable and can adapt to any teaching style. He’s a unique individual and has great enthusiasm for both the language and learning in general! You won’t be dissapointed with Alex as your mentor.

Often times there is a stage in language learning where after a lot of textbook work, one feels as if they know know a boatload of useless information while still having no idea how to actually understand and use the language to communicate. I had a bunch of random, jumbled pieces of the Spanish language scattered throughout my brain. I had no idea how actually put those pieces together and make what is a huge step in any language learning process. I was only able to do it with Nat's help. In addition to her fantastic knowledge of Spanish and Latino culture, the lessons plans covered the most important vocabulary, phrases, and situations in Spanish that one needs in order to feel comfortable using the language in everyday situations. With her help, I was able to test out of four semesters of college Spanish. Plus, she is a fun person to talk to! Highly recommend!

Patricia really wants you to learn at your own pace with your own style of learning. She personalizes the lessons given your background, interests, expectations. I have been very pleased with her efforts. You as the student need to work at it as hard as she does.

About

I find that if you really love what you do then the quality will speak for itself. I found that I was terrible at waiting tables because I lacked passion for it. So I had to ask myself what is that I love doing? I love learning French and I love playing my guitar. So I set up a business around these two loves of my life. I love watching people as they learn that it is possible to learn a second language or play along their favorite songs on guitar.

About

I have seven years of experience with instruction of all aspects of English language arts, Latin and writing composition. In teaching, I focus on the key elements of language and composition. These include the significance of contextual evidence, literary/rhetorical device usage, the patterns consistent throughout all languages, interpretation and comprehension of literature and perfecting the stages of the writing process. I particularly emphasize skillful word usage and sentence variation in any written work as well as in rhetoric. In order to teach language structure, I teach the vital critical thinking skills necessary to analyze and interpret languages. Those invaluable problem-solving skills extend far beyond learning the grammar and vocabulary of any language. They reach across the academic curriculum and into the professional world. Guided by my instruction, students reach their academic goals and surpass their own expectations. My primary tutoring subjects are the following: * Latin (grammar, translation, interpretation and composition) * English Language Arts * Composition * Grammar * Proofreading and Editing * Writing Skills * Literature * Study Skills/Organizational Planning

I have been interested in learning to play guitar for a long time. My son who is going to be a senior was also interested in picking up the bass guitar in order to take a Rock Band class in school. Being a busy mom, I needed someone who could come to our house as well as be flexible with scheduling lessons. Lonny does both of these and is very reasonable with his fee. My son and I both have played piano and 1 other instrument each so that rhythm and reading notes came easier for us. But Lonny took me pretty far in the first couple of lessons that I was able to play notes on all 6 strings and therefore beautiful classical guitar songs with notes and chords in the treble and bass clefs. He is currently working with my son on syncopation. I'm confident that he has listened to my son's goals and will have him ready to be comfortable playing in Rock Band once school starts.
