Introduction: No doubt, Nashville is full of recording engineers. Many fresh out of college. I bring years of experience to the table yet still have a young fresh ear. I've worked in many major studios around the city. Whether you're looking for a world class experience or just trying to record a song on a budget, I can help you figure out how to get it done. I love being a channel for artists. I help get people's music out of their heads, out of their garages/bedrooms, and into the world. I specialize in the first two steps of this - tracking and mixing. I can recommend legit mastering engineers to complete your project.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

If you are hiring me to record, we will also need to book a studio - which is an additional cost and depends on your needs. I do not have/run a recording studio. I have professional relationships with several studios and can help you find one that best suits your needs. If you are hiring me just to mix, my rate is all you pay and includes my personal mix studio.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I grew up playing music but realized very early that I'm not a great songwriter. I figured out how to work in music without the pressure of being an artist.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

    1) band tracking - client books a studio and hires me to engineer/ run the ship. I specialize in multitrack recording to either ProTools or analog tape, but in certain situations can record live to 2 track. 2) overdubs - secondary to band tracking, this can be vocals or any other instruments that need to be added to the basic tracks (NA if you've done a live to 2 track) 3) vocal tuning/editing - yes. It happens. I do it when it's needed or asked for. (also NA for live to 2 track) 4) mixing - I either have a hard drive with the multitracks or a client will share them with me via something like dropbox. This is the process where I take the multitrack recording and do some balance adjustments and other magical things to put it into a 2 track format in which you can listen. I generally email mixes to clients for feedback/revisions. Once the mixes are approved I create and share a folder of hi-res mixes for the client to take to mastering.
