I have experienced a decade of Jo Ann's compassionate presence. Jo Ann has gently encouraged me to find within myself my own truth along my spiritual journey. She has used her intuitive abilities and compassion to help navigate me through specific techniques using Chakra Balancing and Energy Healing in our sessions. Her pinpoint accuracy with her intuitive abilities mentioning exact names and events in my life that I had never made mention of to her before gave me a true understanding that she had a special gift that was unique. I had spent a tremendous amount of time with countless "holy people" and had previously heard endless ideas of what other people had been convinced of was "The Truth." What stood out about Jo Ann is that her ability to heal, encourage, and use her intuitive abilities, were grounded in nature not a book, or someone else's teaching. She teaches people how to unfold their own inner truth. A session with her is an experience that is not lofty and cliche'. It is always new, fresh, and natural. I always feel centered, focused, and a breeze of compassion after our sessions. After seeing Jo Ann people always notice and ask what I have been doing differently. I seemed to radiate. I had a special aura of positivity and air of confidence that was new. I would simply smile and continue to feel the calm from Jo Ann's presence from our session knowing she was my guide for my life's spiritual journey.

I have nothing but great things to say about Akshay and Caveman Fitness! I came to Akshay as an ex-Division I soccer player in need of some major butt-kicking. Before we began our sessions, he took the time to meet me and ask me questions - what my fitness goals were, what holistic outcomes I was looking for, etc. Together we determined what were some ambitious yet realistic goals for me. I have been working with him for the last five months and it has been so hard but so rewarding. I remember somewhat dreading to go work out with him and now I look forward to it, three times a week! I feel healthier and much more self-confident. Akshay is great about including exercises that I really enjoy and therefore work harder at. It's not just about going from one machine to the next with Akshay. He knows I am competitive, so our workouts are challenging, dynamic and often times include a soccer ball. I'm pretty sure everyone else wants to hop into our workouts because they're different and look fun! He pushes me, even on days when I just don't think I can, and I really need and appreciate that. I always leave feeling exhausted!

I'm a 27 year old male and have been pretty athletic/in shape most of my life. I trained with Brady for 4 months with the goal to be competition ready at the end of that 4 months. I lost over 20 lbs/8% bf, and gained muscles I have never seen before. It's been years since I've seen my abs that developed and now I never want to wear clothes. Went from a 34" waist down to a 28-29". Even on days I didn't feel like training, he pushed me through some intense workouts. Helped me get my diet on track, coached me through workouts when I was out of town travelling, and was always very responsive whenever I had a question outside of the gym. Brady helped transform my life and my mindset. If I could, I would train with Brady forever.

Esteban helped me prep for a bodybuilding competition. He is great! He is very knowledgeable and knew how to push me to my limits. My best workouts were definitely with him over the summer. I would highly recommend him to anyone that wants to improve their fitness journey. Also, he is not intimidating at all. I've had past experiences where personal trainers try to intimidate you into expensive training packages. Esteban isn't like that. You tell him what you want to accomplish and he helps you meet your goal.

First of all, I never ever write reviews for anything or anyone..lol..However, Coach T is awesome! He is very professional, knowledgeable and the workout was challenging, but rewarding at the same time. Unfortunately, I only had 1 session with him due to scheduling conflict, but I would highly recommend him.

Chris has been amazing and very knowledgeable when it comes to fitness. His approach to fitness as quality of life has been eye-opening to me. His initial consultation structure is very well-done and he is open to guiding you as to what is achievable and what is not. As to his style of training, Chris is a very approachable and kind (at times hilarious) person. He is not super hardcore in your face; he is really there to motivate you in a sustainable way. He truly cares about his clients and he has shown great respect for me and my family. I also love how he has a humorous side to him. He is without a doubt one of the best coaches/trainers I have had and I recommend him a thousand times over. I have been working out with him for over two months and have not looked back.

I had 3 health and wellness coaches before and got good results changing my lifestyle and improving my nutrition, but when after hiring Ariel I understood that I still have a way to go. This coach brings the most advanced researches, he's a listener and in the same time a pusher towards the right way. If you don't want to work hard to get the results with a pro, this is not a good match for you. But if you are willing to learn how not to make mistakes when it comes to your health, don't think twice: this is the guy.!! Thank you Ariel for changing my life!!

I've been learning that life throws us curveballs. It is inside us how we respond to these experiences. I was widowed at 52, lost and alone. Jesse helped me realize I was worthy and to love me was the greatest gift I could do for myself. I started at the gym, bought a home and am learning about life and taking of myself. I'm very interested in sustainability and the world around me. I have also attained The Second Degree of Reiki in order to further help others the ways Jesse has helped me. It is through his patient guidance and "take not prisoners" attitude that has changed my life for the better. I owe him my life.

Talon really helped me change my life around and achieve my health and fitness goals! He is super knowledgeable and explains not only the benefit of each exercise, but also the science of it all and how to correctly perform them. He’s also just a great guy to be around, so his training sessions are truly fun. He keeps you wanting to work out more and more! As a freelance actor, I end up traveling around a lot. Talon continued to help me program my workouts even when I wasn’t at my home gym. He kept me honest with myself and motivated to continue a path to a stronger, healthier me. Would recommend 10/10!

Since working with Claire I have experienced a clarity around my purpose in life that has been eluding me for over a decade. She has the gift of knowing exactly when to step in and point out what you have been missing, and suddenly everything makes sense. There is great comfort in working with someone like Claire because you know she will help you get to where you really want to go, not where you think you 'should' go. I highly recommend Claire to anyone who desires to partner up with a coach who is compassionate, intuitive and results-oriented.

John Carney was a great source of 'reason' for me in a time of chaos. He helped me to see beyond the fray, and focus on real-life issues. John brings a unique perspective that quickly differentiates undesirable symptoms from the root of the issue. I like to hit things head-on, and not waste time on incidentals. That's what John helped me to do! Can't say "THANK YOU" enough!

        About

What I practice is concierge integrative medicine which involves the integration of nutritional medicine and holistic health coaching with concierge primary care medicine. Nutritional medicine, which involves the use of dietary modification strategies and nutraceutical supplements to decrease chronic disease and reduce pharmaceutical use. Holistic health coaching is based on my health manual, "The Algorithm of Six", which involves addressing the six common drivers of chronic disease which include: nutrition (most important, ranging from micronutrient deficiences to food toxicities, allergies, and intolerances) exercise (usually the lack of it, along with prolonged inactivity) sleep (typically insomnia or sleep apnea) stress management (inability to manage stress and/or self-destructive ways of managing stress) isolation (social, familial, spiritual) environmental toxicities (air,, water, food, home, workplace) To the degree all these factors are corrected, the body will fix itself and reduce or eliminate chronic disease.

Kendel has been a wonderful Coach/Trainer and has helped me build a solid nutritional and fitness foundation to achieve my fitness goals. In addition to her knowledge in physical training, she is a wealth of knowledge in nutrition, health systems, and supplementation. One of the biggest wins I've had while training with her has been an increase in energy levels and improved blood work (especially my cholesterol and hormonal levels). Her knowledge and guidance along with her sound nutritional plans have helped me get my energy levels back to normal. This has made a huge difference in my quality of life! From a physique development perspective, she has helped me develop my back, legs and gluteus by identifying key exercises to help my mind-to-muscle connection. I recommend Kendel for her professionalism, knowledge, and also for her patience, compassion and creativity to help me grow in my personal fitness journey.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

        What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

        Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.
