I can't say enough wonderful things about Joe. He was able to capture every special moment at my wedding. He was so easy to work with and was able to take all of the pictures that I had requested. Before the wedding he met with us to ask about our needs and our special requests for photographs. During the wedding I felt like he was everywhere and was able to capture all of the wedding. After the wedding I spoke with many of the guests and they were thoroughly impressed with how kind Joe was and how he was able to take pictures of everything during the wedding. Joe exceeded my expectations. After reviewing all of the photos I felt like I was reliving my wedding all over again. I was nervous and selecting a photographer who is really able to Capture the spirit of the wedding. I'm so happy that we picked Joe and the photographs turned out wonderfully! I would recommend him to any of my friends. He's a great photographer and his rates are completely reasonable!

Absolutely brilliant team. Great service before and after the event. Our highlights video could not be better - we will cherish it forever. I would not be surprised to see these guys in the credits of Hollywood blockbusters in a few years - get them as your wedding videographers now before they are famous. For the amount of hours they spend planning and editing as well as the filming on the day - they are exceptional value. Could not be happier.

Eileen Blumenthal did a fantastic job as the photographer for our wedding! Her and her husband were committed to going the extra mile to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Our wedding was in late February (huge snow storm in Dallas!) and they drove an hour in a blizzard just to be there- not to mention the fact that they were hours early. If you are looking for high-end photographs for a budget friendly price- look no further! We highly recommend for all photography needs- uhhh-mazing! J - Chris & Sasha Sanders

Ross its a highly professional at Dallas Photography field , the kind pictures he makes its very good quality and beautiful , emotional shoots ! It worth much more than he asking at moment ! My best friend its a famous photografer in Chicago and I I've been a model myself and I know when I see quality ! IM HAPPY with my wedding pictures and how patient and very comfortable he make us to feel ! I CAN REALLY SEE that Ross love his job and its not all about money but about his passion for art ! You wont go wrong with him ! I VISIT lots of overpriced photografers thats more famous on name here and they dnt have same quality of equipment or a not very good image quality , lots pictures are yellow style or with out emotion on it . So with Ross you will save money and get ur memories for sure !

Daniel and Hoda are the best wedding photographers that we have ever worked with. They are honest, easy to work with and I will ask them to take all of our family portraits in the future. It is hard to find photographers that can tell a story and make each wedding special in their own way. We are so glad that they were part of our special wedding day. Lisa and I feel like they are family. If you are looking for wedding photographers that you can trust implicitly, Daniel and Hoda will guarantee to make your wedding experience memorable. Thank you both for all of the hard work. We are looking forward to working with you again! Jason & Lisa Gilbert

During our initial contact, Tina went into great detail describing exactly what could be expected from her as my wedding photographer. She was so helpful and polite throughout the entire process and answered all my questions. It was a joy working with Tina; she was a delight even while working outside in the extreme heat of a Texas August wedding. She caught the magic in every picture and showed great creativity with poses, decorations from my wedding, and the candid photos of our wedding day. I am extremely happy with my wedding photos! Tina was great! I will cherish the memories she captured that amazing day for the rest of my life! Thank you, Tina, for being a part of our special day.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
