When I was searching for a guitar teacher, I wasn't sure what to look for. I wanted someone who wasn't stuck on one particular genre and would be willing to hang with me on my journey to find my own style.
Vaughn fits the bill 100%. Not only is he an extremely talented musician, but he has vast knowledge of music theory, which is instrumental in understanding why things sound the way they do. I'm a slower learner and his patience is astounding; he is able to pick out my weaker points and help me improve them. When I began, I couldn't hold a pick properly. Now, a few lessons in, and I can play some riffs (and a few chords!) which, while I still have a long road ahead of me, I never thought I'd be able to do.
Aside from pure skill and being a really intuitive and fun teacher, he's seriously personable like having him around is a joy. He's taken me from "I can't do this" to "I can totally do this" and every time we finish a lesson, he leaves me with something to practice over the week which is always something that combines technical stuff with music that I would actually want to play.
He tailors your lessons to your musical tastes while taking you just a little out of your element, that you may expand your horizons. I lucked out when I chose him as my teacher and look forward to working with him like. Forever.
