"I need to set the stage briefly - first, I don't ever write reviews; second, I am a young onset Parkinson's guy.
I wanted a gym close to home. I wanted a small gym. I wanted to lose weight and work on my general fitness to manage my PD along with my meds. I found Mighty Fit, which perfectly met my qualifications above, and spoke with Mike (the owner.) I was candid about my PD and my goals. He listened, he asked good questions, he clearly knew his business and cared about me as a person and prospective member, and I knew I would join.
Mike called me a few days later and said, "I think you and Lauren are a good match for training." He talked to me about Lauren's amazing qualifications. My initial response was, "I don't know Mike, I'm not a big yoga guy" (I focused on that component although Lauren is a master TRX trainer, among other expertise, also.) He professionally, kindly encouraged me to meet with Lauren. He knew through my objections that Lauren was the right fit for me.
He was wholly, absolutely correct. Lauren has an amazing energy. She asked me several questions about my fitness history and about my PD without making me feel self conscious, and I was immediately comfortable. She was very up front about incorporating yoga into our workouts along with many other components including weights (which I love) and she told me WHY. I'm a finance guy (a bit analytical and factual), so knowing the WHY, I loved. In our first several sessions, I knew she was creating super diverse, dynamic workouts for me designed around my goals and what she as the expert in her field knew would be best for me. And that continues, 3 months later - every workout is different. Who knew there were so many ways to punish your body ; )? Lauren has clearly established that she is the best of the best. But equally importantly, she carefully gauges me and challenges me, which I love (because I'm that kind of guy) - and I WANT to work harder because she inspires me, she motivates me, and I value her time so completely that I don't want to waste one minute of having her on my team. I want to mention that on a few occasions, I cancelled or attempted to cancel my sessions both because my PD symptoms were not controlled and because of my work schedule, and Lauren has gone way above and beyond encouraging me to come meet with her anyway and waiting for me well past our original start time so I could do so. Lauren isn't just the best of the best professionally, she's the best of the best as a person.
My experience with Lauren, and my progress, is absolutely nothing short of amazing. She is changing my life. No 5 star review or commentary could ever capture the incredible experience I've had (and continue to have) with Lauren nor the gratitude I have for her. Run, don't walk, to Mighty Fit to join and and schedule your sessions with Lauren. You will find everything I've written here to be true and more."
