Super nice guy that does great work. Deon showed up and gave a great estimate and showed me samples of the siding he would use and gave me the estimate right on the spot. He and his brother started a few days later because my roof was being replaced, tore everything off and replaced all fascia, gutters and siding. He kept everything clean, was always on time, didn't exceed his estimate and worked his tail off to make my house look awesome. I couldn't ask for anything else! I even called him back a couple weeks after the fact to do a couple more gutters that I didn't think needed to be replaced, but after the others were done they just looked out of place. If you need gutters, fascia or siding, this is your guy! Thanks again Deon!

I posted a roofing repair job on Thumbtack, Mike responded the same day, gave me a bid and completed the work the next day. The work was very professionally completed, job site cleaned up all in one day. I am very pleased with how it all turned out. I feel good about recommending Mike to others.

We received several bids to have our roof re-shingled with tear off of old shingles. IWC Roof was not the cheapest or the most expensive. We went with them after reading all the reviews online at Angie’s list. I have worked in the construction industry in my 20’s and 30’s and know how difficult it is to find reliable construction workers and was very worried about having my roof re-shingled and have been putting it off for too long. John came out and gave me their bid and gave me a list of 10 plus things they were going to do on the house, even saying they were going to repaint all the pipes on the roof to match the shingles. He quoted me a replacement cost of $45 per sheet of plywood on the roof with the first 4 being free. I had a detached garage also that needed to be done which ended up being kind of tricky. I decided to go with IWC Roof and the next day they scheduled me 2 weeks out. Two days before my roofing date they called to line up the dumpster drop off as they were going to do a tear off of my two layers of old shingles. The day before the big day they dropped off the dumpster and the morning of, they showed up at 6:30 in the morning with 8 guys and got to work. The crew was very professional, and worked extremely well together. They took their time for me to double check their punch list. My roof had a lot of water damage and they needed to replace 27 sheets of plywood. I was there double checking and counting all the sheets they were taking off to make sure that they were not padding the numbers (which they did not). The sheets were replaced, the ice and water shield was placed down two layers back like they said. They used a synthetic tar paper, not the old fashioned kind, gave the roof a ridge vent, new drip edge, built a cricket for the chimney, and cleaned the area all in a DAY!!!! This is not even mentioning the weird extra garage they shingled and the odd roof line they had to deal with. It took way more time then they expected but did not charge me any extra. From start to finish this roofing company exceeded every one of my expectations. They charged me what we agreed on in the beginning plus the 23 sheets of plywood. I have other properties and will be using IWC Roofing for all my future needs. I hope this review does not sound like I work for the company because it is so positive. I am just a guy who had a lot of fears going into this and could not be more pleased with the delivery and result. It is so rare to get what you are promised in life. This is one of those times. I would recommend this roofing company to EVERYONE!!!!

Israel did a great job helping me pick the right roofing materials for my home, completed the whole job in a single day, and was by far the best price out of all of the quotes I got from a variety of roofing companies. There may be better quality roofers out there, but only if you're willing to pay a lot more.

We have a small roof. Many roofing companies will over charge small homes-gas, and machinery cost the same to come out to a small place as a large one. And a large one will make more money.- But Brandon roofing charges by the sq. foot for any size house. They came quickly, gave us a reasonable quote and did everything they said they would. We are very, very happy with their work. Thanks Guys!

I needed to have new roof installed and I asked three different roofing companies to give me bids. Jose was the only one who actually got up on my roof and measured! The others merely "eyeballed" it from the street. Jose gave me an excellent bid and was ready to start when I was ready. He is prompt and courteous and his work ethic is top notch. His bid was exactly what I was hoping for and there were no surprises. The finished product -- BEAUTIFUL! I am so glad I chose Jose Torres Roofing to work on the roof of my home. I would most definitely recommend Jose Torres Roofing to anyone and everyone who may need a new roof or roof repair. Jose -- you are the BEST!!!!!

David Hansen finished my basement. He framed a little bathroom, installed a shower, toilet, and sink, including the water to each of those. He added lighting for the bathroom and installed a pocket door and floor tiles. He did the dry wall, texturing and painting for the bathroom and the adjacent bedroom in the project. There was a plumbing exhaust pipe running across the room below ceiling level, and he was able to cover that with a wood covering that looks like a beam across the ceiling. He finished the room off with a door he hung, including handles and moulding. I am very happy with his work, and his reasonable rates. I would definitely hire him again! As an added bonus, he made a headboard for the bed in the room.

The company underpitched me an offer to get the roof done. When they began the work, they realized it was more difficult then expected. Naturally, they would have charged me much more then their original agreement. But they stuck to their word and in this day and age the more reliable a company can be with giving their trusting word. Will ultimately define the level of loyalty out of their customers and community. I would gladly tell anyone I meet that this is the company they want when needing roof repairs or replacement. Additionally, the roof is gorgeous. Timely work done, and done to perfection. They cleaned up every scrap of trash, and communicated with me the whole way through. How could anyone ask for better service?

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
