Bernie L. says, "Jaime referred me to a teacher on her team, and I had a good trial lesson with Emily. We then decided to schedule a 1st lesson 2 weeks later and put it on Google Meet (it was a remote lesson). When the time came, I waited 15 min on the Google Meet and the teacher never showed up. I sent an email and 4 days later I still haven't heard back. I also can no longer reach out to Jaime via the message thread we have on Thumbtack nor send her a message as a "new client". Not sure what happened, but the experience overall was not good. Jaime was very helpful and responsive and reached out to address the issue, and combine that with the good trial lesson, I'm ok with raising the review to 4 out of 5 stars (on my own volition). Jared S. says, "Growing up, I had very little exposure to making music. I had no idea how to read music, I had no sense of rhythm, and I had basically no idea what music theory was about. With that said, I had been plucking on the guitar for around 10 years and had been working on some pretty complex songs. The results are that I could play some cool stuff really poorly (I remember trying to play the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean and someone thinking I was playing Flamenco). Austin was able to meet me where I was at. He spent time walking me through music theory, how to use a metronome and what different rhythms should sound like. He also walked me through the sheet music of several pieces that I had wanted to play for quite some time. I slowly developed confidence in playing the pieces that I loved. We shifted our conversation from just playing the right notes to expression. I found I loved playing guitar even more when I had control over how the guitar was speaking. I got a taste of what is means to be a musician. Austin's expertise and approachability both shine through in his lessons. He was always very kind and patient. I never felt dumb, even when my understanding of a topic was remedial, and I could consistently feel Austin's enthusiasm when working with me. Randy D. says, "I recently came in contact with Paul about starting some guitar lessons and he was absolutely amazing! He messaged me right back and offered me a FREE 45 minute class!!!!. When we had our class together he was extremely easy to get along with and very very knowledgeable about music theory and the guitar. He made me feel really comfortable playing in front of him and talking with him. I'd say we kicked it off very well. He really took the time to understand what I was looking for and and his advice and teaching was so on point! After his class he gave me some tips and pointers on what I should start to focus on and within the week after my first class I honestly feel like my playing has improved ten fold no questions. All because I followed his teaching. This guy really knows what he's talking about. I was super hesitant about taking a guitar lesson over a zoom call rather then in person but after texting him a little he made me really change my mind on it. And again when we had our class it was radially cool. I didn't feel overwhelmed or pressured or anxiously like I normally would in a teacher setting because he connected with my on personal level and made me feel like a friend not just a student. I can't stress how important that is. I plan on taking classes from him for a while. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Paul to anyone who is looking to learn wether your 65 12 or 31 like me I'm positive you'd be more then satisfied with your decision!"See more
