We had amazing Mexican food provided by Veronica's Cuisine for our wedding luncheon. All our guests raved about how good it was. Veronica's was good to work with a change of location because of weather. They were prompt with set up and take down. I felt that they took very good care of us and added to our special day. I will certainly use them again when another opportunity arises.

We eloped in October and wanted to have a low key but semi-formal celebration with friends and family to celebrate in our new home in April. Approximately 60 people were coming, and some were staying the weekend … so the last thing I wanted to do was cook all day or put my overnight guests to work. I had never hired a caterer, so I was nervous about many things; dependability, quality, and of course price. We found Chef Alex on Thumbtack and set up a time to meet in our home. We loved his story; a family owned-local business. Hiring Chef Alex was the best decision we made. Our guests RAVED all night about the food. We did the drop off catering option … and being a little OCD I was worried about the display (would it live up to my vision of the night) … I even had back up plates/platters ready so I could “re-plate” if needed. Alex showed up on time, looking professional, and the beautiful platters he carried were heaping with delicious food and flowers. Huge relief. The ceviche, the prosciutto covered stuffed dates (we didn’t even know we liked dates) were AMAZING, and the slightly spicy roast beef sliders were a hit! My guests could not get enough. Our new neighbors even hired him for their reception in May! You could not get a better recommendation then that. Honestly, if you don't hire Chef Alex, you and your guests are missing out!

I had a great experience with Flavors! I worked with Wendy to figure out my order. She was great! I had to make a lot of last minute changes and she was extremely patience and willing to work with me to ensure I was getting exactly what I wanted! I really appreciated that! John was the gentleman that came to our party to set everything up. He was so nice and very efficient. He was right on time and even called an hour before to ensure he had the right address. He was very great to work with! I highly recommend this catering company! The food was delicious! We did a fajita bar and chips and queso! All the guests loved it! Thanks for everything Flavors!

We needed lunch for 18 at our shop at Miller Motorsports Park, as we hosted Porsche racecar drivers over two weekends. Mike provided four days of wonderfully presented delicious food, arriving on time, with the dishes kept warm or cold as needed, each meal more delicious than the last. The kabobs with peanut sauce and lemon-grass-kissed marinated cucumbers were out of this world. We plan to use No Name Gourmet for all our catering needs and just wish we could take him with us to the "away races"!

Wrap and Roll catered my daughters brunch for her December wedding at the Garden Center in Heritage Park. Not only were they extremely professional and well prepared, but the food was fantastic! Friends and family that ask how my newlyweds are doing still comment about how incredibly delicious the food was. Wayne and his staff were courteous, professional, and hard working, which alleviated my stress and allowed me to focus on my daughter, instead of the details of the wedding. I highly recommend Wrap and Roll, and plan on using them for all my future catering needs.

Snap Daddy's has catered a couple of events for me. One was a dinner we host for our clients (75 people in attendance) and the other was a networking event (125 in attendance) where hors d'oeuvres were served. The catering was handled professionally and the staff is very friendly! Both events went very well and they received rave reviews from everyone. Highly recommend their services and even though it states "BBQ", this isn't your traditional BBQ catering company. They can cater and accommodate any occasion since their menu of items is so diverse.

Matt listen carefully to my needs, then suggested and designed menu options that worked both in value and in deliciousness! He was prompt in arriving and set up, and presentation was perfect. I received almost as many complements on the food as I did on my gallery opening. He was great to work with throughout. I highly recommend Matt and trust his creativity and catering expertise.

How much does it cost to hire a caterer?

Catering prices depend mainly on how fancy you want the food and service to be and how many guests you’ll have. When you’re first looking to hire a caterer for your event, consider how many guests you’ll have and your total food and drink budget. The national average for event catering is $340, but catering prices can range into the thousands depending on your menu, guest count, and service.

Event catering is a broad term that covers everything from fully prepared, ready-to-eat food that the hosts plate and serve themselves to full-service, multicourse meals, including rental of linens, glassware and other items, with service staff organized by the catering company. Usually a caterer will determine cost based on the type of event you’re having, how many guests will attend, the level of service you desire, and what type of menu you’d like to have. For example, if you have a set catering budget, say $1,500, and you plan to have 50 people attend, that means you have $30 per person for food. If you have the same budget with 100 people, you have $15 per person for food. In this way, the number of people you want to attend your event and the level of food you want to serve them determines how much catering will cost.

How much should catering cost per person?

Catering prices can range from about $10 per guest on the low end to $150 or more per person on the high end. Catering costs represent the quality of food, presentation, variety, ingredients and service. But catering prices are more than the cost to cook the food that will be at your party; they also include the cost for the company to do business. Here is a simple breakdown of catering prices:

          • Menu: The food you serve your guests will directly affect the price per person. Organic ingredients, complex recipes, elaborate presentations, or high-ticket items like lobster or filet mignon all add to the cost.
          • Service: Buffet, family style, plated dinners — how you serve the food affects the cost per person. For example, a true plated meal can cost about twice the price of a staff-assisted buffet because of staffing costs. Hiring waiters, bartenders and cleanup crew will all be calculated into the per-person catering price.
          • Drinks: Providing beverages and alcoholic drinks for guests greatly increases your catering budget. Hosting an open bar can cost as much per person as the meal.
          • Rentals: Seating, plates, glassware, etc., will all have an effect on the cost per person for catering. For example, a plastic conference table that seats 10 costs about $6 to rent on average, while a wooden farmhouse table is about $80 to rent on average.
          • Business costs: Any catering cost will also include the cost for the company to do business such as insurance, employee wages, commercial kitchen space and more.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
