Ruth Curyk Tallmer

Introduction: I will travel as far as necessary, if expenses are paid and if it is to guest-teach, choreograph, or coach. I can teach on a regular basis in the DC area. I can work with figure skaters and ballroom dancers who wish to do lifts and other, more difficult elements, and/or wish to improve their ballet technique. I have been a guest teacher/choreographer for numerous ballet schools and coached figure skaters and ballroom exhibition dancers in ballet elements for competitions. I have coached at a "dance competition school" to ready the girls for their competition season. I also choreographed their ballet and lyrical routines. I can coach cheerleaders in correct form and technique. I would also be an asset to girls who wish to compete in beauty pageants. As a professional ballet dancer for 17 years, I have modeled (after retiring from ballet and while teaching ballet, yoga, and Pilates) doing "runway" in small, local trunk shows, so I can coach models who wish to gain more poise and elegance and master the "runway walk." I am currently teaching yoga and Pilates in several locations, so I can add these techniques instead of teaching ballet. I have worked with teens who need ballet/yoga/Pilates as a psychological therapy at a children's hospital. I have worked in a program through The Kennedy Center, teaching ballet as a "learning tool" in several DC public schools. In short, I enjoy, and I am excellent at teaching any level or age of student who wish to improve technically and/or artistically, has always wanted to dance ballet, and/or wants to use self-expression and a mastery of their body, as tool for gaining a better sense of peace of mind and improving their self-confidence.
