I immediately called Washington Gas, and they confirmed everything was safe, but it became clear that the furnace itself was not lighting and therefore not heating. I searched and reached out to three professionals. Love Handyman was the only one who called me back right away and said he could come the same night. Within an hour, he was at my door. He quickly diagnosed the issue, found the damaged part, and clearly explained what was wrong. He told me he would return the next morning to fix it—and he did. He showed up at 8:30 a.m., fixed the furnace right away, and then took the time to explain exactly what happened, why it happened, and what was repaired. He was extremely communicative, transparent, professional, and knowledgeable. This situation was especially stressful with kids in the house and just two days before Christmas, and his quick response and calm professionalism made all the difference. This level of reliability is hard to find, and he is truly an exception. I will absolutely call him again for any handyman work I need in the future and highly recommend him."See more

They did excellent work! They removed an old, leaking water heater that is located in the most awkward location, in an area where you have to pull the stove to get to the water heater. They had a very small space to work with and did the work without removing my countertops or cabinetry. The other plumbing companies I spoke with all said that I'd have to remove the countertops. The first water heater they brought didn't fit since the water lines located at the top didn't have enough clearance because of the countertop (again, the water heater is in such an awkward location). They quickly got on the phone and located a water heater (commercial) that fit perfectly when they installed it a few days later. They also installed new shut-off valves that I can quickly get to, if needed. They are excellent problem solvers! Personable, professional and very knowledgeable. I would hire them again.

I received a few quotes to replace my gas water heater. Ernesto at salvation plumbing reached out and gave me a very competitive quote. He also explained the scope of work to be done. Ernesto came a few days later to install the water heater. He was punctual and professional, and also recommended a fix to my current setup which he did for a reasonable price. Everything went as planned and on time. I highly recommend reaching out to Ernesto for your plumbing and hvac needs.

The Good: He arrived early, was in constant contact about when he would get to my house, and did a good/clean job with the hot water heater installation. The Bad: We agreed to a price & brand of HW heater on Thumbtack. When he arrived, he upcharged me (e.g., for expansion tank) by couple hundred dollars on the spot, something that is required by code in VA now. This should have been included in the quote (or, at the very least, mentioned as a possible additional charge in the quote) but the end pricing was still fair pricing. Also asked to use my garden hose to drain my old hot water heater. Pointed him to where it was (in the front of the house) and when he was done, I had to spend some time looking for it to only find it in the rear of the house in a messy pile.

Tenant notified me at 8:30PM that the water heater had a leak. I searched Thumbtack and created a request for installation.
