Mermaid catering did an excellent job. Julie was very helpful with planning and assisting me with setting up the party in my home. The food was fantastic! The entree choices Julie recommended were a perfect fit for my family and friends. Everyone commented on how fresh and delicious the dinner was. The Mermaid Salad was a favorite. Many guests went back for second helpings and there was still plenty of food leftover. The entertainer Julie hired for the children at the party was also excellent. The kids had a great time, so their parents were able to relax and enjoy. Overall it was a terrific evening. Thank you Julie!

We hired Brandon as a personal chef for my wife's 50th birthday party. He was extremely helpful in putting together the menu, flexible in working with our choices, and very cost-effective. He and Ashley did a great job with setup, presentation, communication, and cleanup. The food was fantastic, from the appetizers (crab cakes in Cajun remoulade and summer spinach salad) to the entrees (fresh rockfish in a lemon dill cream sauce and steak with a red wine mushroom reduction) and the delicious chocolate cake. My wife and many of our friends are "foodies", and Brandon's meal earned an ovation from our group. Well done, and thanks for making my wife's special day extra special!

Everyone was amazed at how lovely everything looked. She had the table arranged with different heights, it was stunning. Then the food, it was fabulous. One friend had to leave early and when she got home she called and booked Yummy for an upcoming event. The bar tender was very good. He had the bar set up so to make drinks very quickly. I was at an event that was catered by the good life kitchen the food was excellent, very fresh, colorful So pretty to look at and the taste was out of this world. I have also picked up food from there to go and have eaten there many times. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable when it ces to special needs and diets like gluten free, I have had the gluten free lentil kale and sweet potato stew and even though I am not a big fan of lentils this stew is do sweet and tasty I must recommend it. The best sandwich is the turkey melt with a delissious secret sauce you just absolutely have to try. They also have the freshest salads in town made right in front of you not to forget the fresh made salad dressings. They also serve egg and tuna salad freshly made and you just can not get that everywhere. A great selection of healthy and unusual drinks are offered . You can dine in or have a party in a clean and bright dining room. The kitchen bares no secrets it is for all to see all in all a wonderful place where everyone is treated like family come and check it out.

My name is Janie Elisabeth Beck, Nik's Catering Catered my wedding. I was in need of some one who understood my needs and my tight budget. I didn't have much in the way of a budget. Nik's catering worked with my budget and the food was amazing. We did a self service buffet style cuisine. Nicole suggested Italian because it was cheap and we could get more for our money. I came to Nicole through My best friend Marilyn Watt Nicole is her daughter and she thought that she could help me. Three months prior to my wedding I sat down with Nicole and we went through some sample menus that she prepared for me and how many people I was expecting and set up a few tastings to sample some of the foods to make our final decisions. The day of the wedding things were a little hectic but once the people arrived and the vows were said we all settled up for a party. When we got to the reception hall the tables were set and the food was ready and every thing was good. I was most impressed with the quality of services that Nik's catering provided with a budget of six hundred dollars I fell like I got service of some one who spent thousands. with everything that I got for the services I was extremely happy with the services Nik's catering offered and would use thier services in the future.

Harvey's brought their cart to my husband's 50th birthday surprise party. They came highly recommended by a friend and they did not disappoint. Harvey and Dorothy were very easy to work with and our guests enjoyed the variety of menu choices to pick from. Having the cart was a fun and unique addition to the party! I did not have to worry about preparing the food or cleaning it up...they were very organized, had delicious food and confidently handled our crowd!

80th Birthday party for 20 people! The food was great and had lots of it! Michael took care of every detail. We loved the punch fountain and birthday cake! He gave us recipes for some items he made, so you know it was good, if we asked for recipes! And price was right!

My close friends and I had put together a Super Bowl party up in Williamsburg. The idea of getting it catered seemed to spark with everyone. I called Cassie and told her what the budget was. She said, "I'll put something together for you!" The Moe's crew was incredibly punctual and professional. The spread was AMAZING! Thanks to Cassie, we will be locking her down for every large party we throw together! I'm just mad that the football season ended, and we are just now trying this. Excellent work, Cassie! You are the BEST!

How much does it cost to hire a caterer?

Catering prices depend mainly on how fancy you want the food and service to be and how many guests you’ll have. When you’re first looking to hire a caterer for your event, consider how many guests you’ll have and your total food and drink budget. The national average for event catering is $340, but catering prices can range into the thousands depending on your menu, guest count, and service.

Event catering is a broad term that covers everything from fully prepared, ready-to-eat food that the hosts plate and serve themselves to full-service, multicourse meals, including rental of linens, glassware and other items, with service staff organized by the catering company. Usually a caterer will determine cost based on the type of event you’re having, how many guests will attend, the level of service you desire, and what type of menu you’d like to have. For example, if you have a set catering budget, say $1,500, and you plan to have 50 people attend, that means you have $30 per person for food. If you have the same budget with 100 people, you have $15 per person for food. In this way, the number of people you want to attend your event and the level of food you want to serve them determines how much catering will cost.

How much should catering cost per person?

Catering prices can range from about $10 per guest on the low end to $150 or more per person on the high end. Catering costs represent the quality of food, presentation, variety, ingredients and service. But catering prices are more than the cost to cook the food that will be at your party; they also include the cost for the company to do business. Here is a simple breakdown of catering prices:

          • Menu: The food you serve your guests will directly affect the price per person. Organic ingredients, complex recipes, elaborate presentations, or high-ticket items like lobster or filet mignon all add to the cost.
          • Service: Buffet, family style, plated dinners — how you serve the food affects the cost per person. For example, a true plated meal can cost about twice the price of a staff-assisted buffet because of staffing costs. Hiring waiters, bartenders and cleanup crew will all be calculated into the per-person catering price.
          • Drinks: Providing beverages and alcoholic drinks for guests greatly increases your catering budget. Hosting an open bar can cost as much per person as the meal.
          • Rentals: Seating, plates, glassware, etc., will all have an effect on the cost per person for catering. For example, a plastic conference table that seats 10 costs about $6 to rent on average, while a wooden farmhouse table is about $80 to rent on average.
          • Business costs: Any catering cost will also include the cost for the company to do business such as insurance, employee wages, commercial kitchen space and more.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
