While visiting my daughter in Northern Virginia, my wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Gaurav Singh of Going Yogue. We had a wonderful conversation about India, yoga and the benefits of incorporating Mudras (symbolic gestures) in your everyday practice in order to stay cool, calm and happy. My wife and I practice yoga daily, and were very interested in learning new practices from Gaurav as he seemed very knowledgeable. We don't drive, and he even came to my daughter's house to give us a lesson- a huge convenience for us. He taught us Sheetli pranayama (breathing exercise) and Abhaya Mudra (gesture). We have incorporated these into our everyday morning session. Both of these help me to stay cool and calm, which is necessary due to my high blood pressure. This daily practice also helps me to have a better sleep and keeps me happy. Additionally, we talked about my diabetes and how to naturally control it through nutrition. Gaurav was kind enough to put a plan together and sent it to me through email, which I may follow at home. The plan has been very helpful. I wish I would have more time to learn from him, and will surely have more sessions when we next visit the area. God bless him for his passion and desire to spread his knowledge of Yoga and nutrition to improve everyone's life. I wish him all the best!

Chef Green is a very professional, articulate and Ambitious Vegan Chef. She gave me one of the best catered events with imagery and tasty vegan meals that blew the audience away. From the presentation to the verbal conversation between myself and Chef Green and her interaction with the Audience was very pleasant and it reflected in the food because the food was very pleasant as Chef Green was. I would recommend Chef Green to every person that I know and I will always request Chef Green for any Catered Event that I am having. I personally have no complaints about anything that took place but hopefully Chef Green that become a household name that everyone can recognize and understand the LOVE And CARE than she puts into her Craft.

I Was Very Over weight and uncomfortable with my body. My attitude was negative and i was never happy. Until third year of highschool i decided to change my life around by losing weight. However, during the weightloss i didnt do it properly. I became very unhealthy and got sick, even though i dropped a tremendous amount of weight. I met stacy April 2016 and she changed my life around, she was able to show me that food is a necessity for your body to function properly especially how important it is to build muscle and burn fat. She not only became my nutritionist and trainer but she changed my overal mood about how i feel emotionally and physically. Thank you So much for all that youve done and i would definitely recommed you to anyone seeking a fitness coach!

I have done two of Amy's self guided cleanses. She is a brilliant nutritionist. All of her recipes are tested, effective and flavorful. Amy thoughtfully and comprehensively answered my multiple questions and helped me get on track. I have now made healthy eating a lifestyle because of Amy and I feel better than I have in years.

I was being trained by Catherine years ago and I said something about " No pain, no gain " as she corrected my posture during the routine. She quickly said that no one should experience "pain" when working out. I knew then that I had FINALLY found a REAL trainer. Catherine's training and professional skills are unmatched. She simply loves doing what she does and it shows. She trains you according to your skill level and ability, and she is never distracted by today's tech gadgets ,( cellphones) which means you get 100% of her time, every time. I moved out of state for a short time and invited Catherine down for a visit and workout of course. she could not out run me on the beach, but she whipped my butt in the gym , but they were good workouts. Later on during her visit, she took me to the market and taught me how to properly shop for quality organic foods , and quickly made a knock out dish for me and my friend as we looked on and took notes. I moved back to the DMV area, reconnected with her and now I am receiving weekly healthy meals from her. Boy is that a relief. And knowing that she is a certified nutritionist only adds to her credibility. In short, if you are looking for true quality in a trainer as well as someone too cook healthy meals for you, Catherine is the hands down choice and that's why I give her 5 stars. Keep up the good work Catherine. Mark Stith Silver Spring, MD

Before seeing a nutritionist, most of my knowledge about dieting and exercise were limited to the common facts found on the Internet and word on the street. However, after meeting with Mr. Zaid, I had not only learned about the proper way to diet and exercise, but I also expunged those false facts I had been using that had inhibited my progress. He is extremely thorough in his explanations and calculations and will answer all of your questions with complete honesty. I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking to improve their life.

Christine conducted a thorough evaluation and recommended a sugar control diet to combat my frequent headaches and energy spikes/lows. To help implement the plan, she gave me weekly meal plans, recipes, and a shopping list. A few weeks later, I felt more energetic, had fewer headaches, and was making healthier food choices.

I'm my dear h for a nutritionist Nicole reached out to me and set up a time to talk! The interview lasted about an hour but she makes sure that she answers all questions and concerns. Nicole was not rushed and totally forcues on me and my needs! Following the interview Nicole sent me over her plans and what she has to offer. This is as far as I gotten with the process of finding a nutritionist and I can tell you I can trust that after my search that Nicole has my best interns in mind and that is most definitely one of the main things I looking for.

Rachel is an excellent nutritionist and very knowledgeable. Not only has she been helping me accomplish my goals and get healthy, but she also explains to me the biology and science behind the plan she's giving me and what my body needs to go through and will go through using her plan, as well as what some potential pitfalls can be if I don't follow the plan the way that she has presented it. She is more than happy to answer any questions you may have. She gives lots of different suggestions for ways to successfully carry out her plan and gives her reasoning for why she chooses what she does. She checks in frequently to make sure everything is going well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. Pleasant to speak with. And she has been helping me easily and fairly quickly accomplish my goals. She's an awesome nutritionist. 😊😁

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
