About: Lorraine's Piano Academy offers private piano lessons for ages 3 to 93. Learning to play the piano should be fun and exciting, while also holding students to a high standard. Students learn by playing lots of games created to teach musical concepts (for young students) and following an individualized study plan, allowing each student to learn thoroughly at their own unique pace. Older students also have an individual study plan, and have frequent opportunities to put musical theory into practice. Students feel a sense of accomplishment quickly as they learn to play "real" music soon after beginning lessons. For parents interested in a music program for very young children, Lorraine's Piano Academy offers an Early Childhood Music program for ages 2 to 7 years. This program incorporates all the things that babies and young children love: Singing, dancing, playing rhythm instruments, experimenting with real instruments, story time, listening to many genres of music, and together time with their parent(s). All of these activities promote brain development, gross and fine motor skills, social skills, speech development, verbalization, bonding with parent(s), and much more.

Latest Review: I've been to Heather twice now for piano lessons and I think she's wonderful! I'm so impressed with her knowledge of music and the piano. I'm 61 and played the piano when I was a teenager, but my teacher then never taught me as much about the music and technique and Heather has taught me. She's very patient and very knowledgeable about the music. I highly recommend her.

Latest Review: Piano lessons with Aaron have been a pleasure so far! He is patient when needed and appropriately instructive. He has a good ear for music and is great at not only catching mistakes, but accurately identifying what went wrong and how it can be fixed. I'd highly recommend Kirby Music School for any one of all ages.

Latest Review: I have difficulty learning and am easily distracted and frustrated. So more than most, the teacher matters. On that note, I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful a piano and music instructor, and what’s more, what a wonderful person Mary is. She’s patient, positive, and encouraging. She sees you without judgement and nurtures your talent while creating a safe space for the student to make mistakes and not feel guilty. She not only makes music fun, she makes LEARNING a rewarding journey of self-improvement. I’m almost thirty years old and I’ll be the first to say you’re never too old (or young!) to learn what you love. Mary truly helps her students discover music with her profound understanding of the subject, extraordinary sense of fun and adventure, and compassion. You couldn’t ask for a better instructor and as soon as you meet Mary, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

About: What music excites you? What pieces would you enjoy learning? People learn best when they’re learning a piece that they really like. I do my best to find pieces that my students enjoy learning and are excited to play at a recital. My teaching blends this with learning the basics of note reading and technique. These are essential for any piano student. I teach at Click Music in Oak Harbor. My students range from ages four to 70. I welcome beginners and those who have studied previously. My students play in recitals at Click Music two to three times a year. They love these opportunities to play for an audience and share their enthusiasm for the piano and for music.
