Al was able to accommodate my request next day for a move out carpet clean. He was one of the few carpet cleaners that uses a mobile, commercial grade machine. it did not require a van or hoses to be run through my windows as my unit is on the 3rd floor of my condo. He was 5 minutes early for our scheduled time. Very friendly and extremely efficient. He did an excellent job cleaning my 1BR condo (living room, bedroom, walk in closet) in less than 1 hour. In and out. I highly recommend him. He is very personable and quite the professional. If I was staying in Seattle, I would use him again. Highly recommend!

Hired Tierra Eco-Cleaning to clean our home on a regular basis. They are the second company we hired, and did a great job at a reasonable price. The ladies were very thorough and polite. They cleaned under beds, and other furniture where dog hair collects, which is something the prior cleaner didn't do. They are also smart about how they clean, tackling things like soaking the oven parts as soon as they arrive so they are quicker by the time they get to the kitchen. I highly recommend this company, and we continue to use them every two weeks.

Great experience-they were able to fit us in on short notice. They were very respectful and made sure to clean up after themselves which is not something that all carpet cleaners have done for us in the past. Would definitely hire again.

Antwan and his assistant were on time and both did a thorough job of cleaning the carpeted area of the house. They left no trace of them coming over to clean up, other than a super clean carpet.

Scott was on time and efficient and gave me a great quote — didn’t play any pricing games like I’ve had with some carpet cleaners. Friendly and professional — will totally hire him again!

Tony was in communication with us before the appointment, switching to texts upon my preference, and showed up on time. While I had a very small carpet cleaning job (under 100 sqft) he charged the most reasonable rate I found and did an excellent job. He was able to provide a receipt for the property mgt company, which fulfilled our contract. Easy to use, good value.

Armando and his crew were very nice and professional. They did an excellent job of the interior painting of my father's house, fixing a broken gate, cleaning the house, cleaning the carpets, and cleaning up the yard. If they were running late, which they did a couple of times - but it was minimal, they called me before hand to let me know. When Armando quoted me each job, that was the price that I paid for each job. He didn't up the price at all. He and his brother also gave up an hour of their time on a Sunday to come over to the house to move big pieces of furniture into the garage. I would hire them again, in fact I'm hoping to have them work on my house in the very near future. I highly recommend them.

Chris was professional and did a great job cleaning my carpet so I also hired him to do some cleaning in my former rental home that I was preparing to sell. Everything looked great downstairs but the upstairs left a little to be desired. Window sills were not clean like the sills on the main floor. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars

I received a response from Silvia within an hour of my request on Thumbtack. She came out the next day and cleaned our home along with the carpets the next day, after we had moved out. Silvia even put the things we had left in the home into the garage. She did a wonderful job! Thanks you, Silvia, for saving me!!

I was a little nervous about paying upfront then leaving the building. I was called when the job was done and informed of some problem areas on the carpet. When I returned, I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and clean the unit was! They did a beautiful job. The spot on the carpet was barely noticeable unless you went looking for it. My new tenant was happy as a clam! Nice job golden touch!

Thought I'd take risk with a local freshman company, especially when I didnt have many options! I was scrambling because my future parent in-law's decided to visit unexpectedly. Pine City Carpet Cleaners was up to any competitive Standards. I was very pleased with this up and coming business. Very professional and consistent all rooms looked phenomenal. His vacuum which I believe is the rotovac with outstanding results. Will call every few months for cleaning. Thanks

Mike did a lot of contract work in our daylight basement for us when we moved into our new house. He completely remodeled our bathroom, replaced carpets in rooms, put in new paint, set up new lights, and replaced a hideous bench with something better looking. He even set up our entertainment center and replaced our court lights. We were very pleased with how the final work came out (the way the basement looks is night and day), and we would employ him again for future contract work to make improvements to our house.

Jamila is awesome! First of all, Jamila did all she could to accommodate my changing schedule to clean my townhouse on a move out. She is definitely customer oriented. I couldn't have asked for better customer service. Secondly, the cleaning she provided was genuinely the best I've ever seen, she was meticulous in cleaning every detail and part of my apartment. She also shampooed my carpet and the carpet looked nearly new by the time she was finished and it smelled great as well. I intend on hiring her on a monthly basis as she is so pleasant and hard-working. I highly recommend Jamila, you get an excellent job for a fair price. Rose

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.

How much does it cost to clean an area rug?

Whether your pet had an accident, the party got too wild, or your kids can’t control their juice boxes — we all need rug cleaning from time to time. In fact, even if you don’t have a spill or spot, it’s wise to have your area rug cleaned approximately once a year to keep the rug fibers in good health. In general, rug cleaning prices depend on the square footage of the rug, what the rug is made of, whether any repairs are needed, and whether you require the pro to travel to your location or provide pickup and drop-off services. Nationally, average area rug cleaning prices range from $80 to $120.

Wool and silk area rugs typically cost more to clean than rugs made from synthetic fibers because the more delicate materials take more care and may require specialized cleaning fluids. For example, a synthetic rug may cost $1.50 per square foot to clean; a wool, cotton, or chiffon rug could be $2 per square foot; and a silk or Navajo wool rug could cost $3 per square foot. The two most common rug cleaning methods are steam and chemical cleaning. The costs for the two methods are often the same, although a steam-cleaned rug will take longer to dry due to the moisture. If your area rug needs odor removal, moth deterrent, or hand washing, there will be additional charges.
