The estimate was above the actual cost which was great! Thank you for your honest final cost! I am very pleased with the work done while the house was vacant. Very trustworthy and professional. Thank you for the work of a Master Plumber putting in natural gas lines for our new stove and NG grill!

If you're like me & put off projects you shouldn't because you dread "rolling the dice" to find a trusted contractor - look no further. These days customer service is a lost art, Corey is the exception. From the day I posted my quote request to the day the job was done, he was patient and promptly answered my endless questions. He rearranged his sched & got his 2nd plumber to join him to get all my jobs done in one day. His prices are competitive. When there was a leak from one of the valves he fixed it the next day. Clean up was great - no trace left behind. Let him know if you want to keep anything, most people don't, I did. I've found my "go-to" plumber, bet you will too! (No we are not related, nor did I get a discount for this review, just grateful. :)

Micah is the best contractor I've ever hired. Not just best plumber...best contractor. He's a fundamentally decent human being. He's polite, he's detail oriented and he values customer service to an extreme. We were remodeling our bathroom. Micah redid the plumbing throughout our 1950's bathroom and replaced about half of our aged basement piping with modern PEX. Throughout the process, he was humble and focused on the tasks in front of him. However, my wife noticed a drop in water pressure. So, we politely asked if he could come out and adjust whatever needed to be adjusted so our water pressure would be back to what it was. Without hesitation, he said he'd come out free of charge. As he began adjusting our faucets, he chose to replace our kitchen faucet for free. He said "This is what I'd expect from a car repair shop when repairing my car." I was stunned! STUNNED. So, let's recap: 1: His hourly rate is lower than many of the other local plumbers. 2: He was never pushy or aggressive in trying to upsell me additional services. 3: He was a gentleman in my home. 4: His workmanship is excellent. 5: He volunteered to correct my water pressure issue free of charge. I didn't have to ask. He volunteered. 6: When he decided it was the faucet, he chose to replace my faucet at his cost. 7: He cleaned up after he left. Micah Monk is a home run. You can't do better.

I did a search for plumbers nearby. Dennis responded. He came over to look at the job, was there on time, and gave us a reasonable quote for the scope of work we outlined. Once work commenced, it was wonderful to see that we had found the right man for the job. He is very professional and skillful. The work was completed as agreed upon and he was available two months later to complete his work after cabinets and countertops had been installed. Work site was kept neat and orderly and there was no mess left behind. I'd hire him again in a second.

The men who did the work knew what they were doing...however I was under the impression that he would be doing the work himself and that he was a electrician. I had gone on line to find an electrician in my area. No one told me they were not going to be licensed electricians.

When our water heater needed to be replaced, we went through the process of getting several quotes. I had just found the Thumbtack site a few days prior looking up Junk Removal sites, so I decided to try it out. We only got one quote from Thumbtack but it was the most appealing to us. While every other place gave one flat rate including cost of water heater, Burt's quote gave us the idea to purchase the water heater on our own and he would install it for a very reasonable hourly labor rate. This ended up working out very well since Home Depot lets you do a six-month no interest payment plan. Burt even offered in his quote to pick up the water heater for us but we were able to get it home on our own. I was very pleased that Burt gave me several references who all verified he is well-versed in plumbing and has quite a list of satisfactory jobs he has completed during his career. This gave us the confidence to move ahead. Burt arrived right on time and ready for work. He had every tool he would need to complete the job and even when he needed an additional part, he stopped the clock and picked it up on his own time. He did a wonderful and professional job of successfully installing the new water heater. He completed the job for us in a timely manner. He was very professional and friendly. Since he was also disposing of our old water heater for us, at an agreed upon rate he also took a couple old non-functioning small appliances we needed to dispose of but didn't want to pay the high Waste Management fees. Finally, although Burt is not a service plumber but explained his forte is rough plumbing, he even agreed to check our toilet and put in a new flush valve for us. I can't say more about how happy we are that we chose Burt to complete this job for us. In this day and age it can be hard to find trustworthy solid workmanship, but we did find that in Burt. We are happy to recommend him wholeheartedly. Thank you Burt, for a job well done.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

    • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
    • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
    • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
