Ms. Krista has been my vocal instructor for a year now and I absolutely love love love our sessions. She has reasonable pricing, flexible scheduling, and very knowledgeable about a range of genres that will fit your needs and interest. Ms, Krista makes her students feel comfortable with learning and trying new things. As her student, my genre interest is r&b and pop. Although, I came in as an untrained singer, Ms. Krista has help strengthen and repair my vocals from years of over singing. This consists of training my three voices (chest, head, and mixed). I have no doubt in a couple of more years I will reach a professional level of singing because of her. Over the year, Ms Krista has taught me different jazz techniques and soulful tips to be able to apply to my r&b music selection. We've sung a bit of jazz, pop, r&b, and even a bit of blues type of songs. In the beginning I wasn't quite interested, however, with her expertise she's opened my mind on different approaches that I can use to strengthen and build my repertoire. Ms. Krista's critiques are very constructive yet helpful to push you to your greatest potential. She's even given me tips on performing and how to be a better entertainer on stage. Ms. Krista never rushes through sessions and is always prepared and ready for the next student. Ms. Krista has never been unprofessional. Ms. Krista has always kept me eager for lessons. She is very opened minded unlike some instructors to what you want out of the lessons instead of pressuring students on what she has already prepared. She lets you have a voice on what goals you want to set for yourself with her help. I would highly recommend her if you are looking for an instructor that is going to push you and challenge you to your greatest limit than Ms. Krista is the one to book.
I hadn't had piano lessons in a long time, but Fred was great at helping me feel comfortable get into the swing of things. He works well teaching at any skill level. He also incorporates music theory into his lessons, so not only do you get a lesson, but you learn more about the mechanics behind the music itself. He's very passionate about music, so you can't help but also feel passionate about it as well. I'd highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in lessons.
My daughter started violin lessons with Ms. Rita as a 4 year old. Since then, she has continued playing for the past two years. Ms. Rita is a very kind and nurturing instructor and helped my daughter develop a love and knowledge of the violin. She has given my daughter a wonderful foundation for reading music and playing the violin!
I recently needed a math tutor to help prepare me for a test to get into Graduate School. Finding Debbie was 'The Best' thing that happened to me! She was extremely flexible and professional and had such a peaceful/clear way of explaining problems to me. I had several 'light bulb' moments and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great math tutor!
If you have seen the movie Whiplash, you will not find any music instructors like that at Mason Music. Unlike the volatile drill sergeant in the film, Mason Musics teachers are personable, talented, patient, and encouraging. As an adult student getting started in music later in life (at age 42), I wasnt sure what to expect. Will and Sarah Mason were both very encouraging to me, and kept things interesting and fun, while motivating me to realize my potential in guitar and voice. Over time, things started to come together, and I am now able to be a part of the music ministry at our church, and share the gift of music with others, which is very rewarding. My daughters (12 and 9), both take voice at Mason Music, and really enjoy it. My 12 year old has taken piano and guitar as well. Just recently, I attended my 9 year olds voice recital, where she sang solo in front of a crowd, as confidently as I could imagine, and had fun doing it. I have seen my 12 year old have the same experience at her recitals. Watching my daughters grow in their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of music is wonderful to see, and music is something our family can share. They are both progressing rapidly, and I look forward to the opportunity for musical collaboration with them in the future. I highly recommend Mason Music to anyone who is interested in music, regardless of age or skill set!
She was perfect. A future star. She sent me a long list of what she could play. It had dozens of hits from many a genre. I chose 20 something and she played them beautifully. This was a party for my wife who just beat breast cancer. Dave & Marilee Cade
We love Stick and Trum! Everyone is very friendly and non-intimidating! My son has taken lessons on several instruments and has learned a lot! He has developed a live for music and does not feel like it is a chore to go to lessons!

We offer piano, clarinet, sax, and voice lessons through a professional teacher. We are located in the Birmingham, Alabama area. You can read about our services on our web. Paul Hammond earned a BS degree in Music Education from Liberty University in 1983 with a dual major in voice and piano with clarinet as secondary. He teaches a "Fastrak" system which moves his students through the paces quickly. Lessons are given in half hour or hourly sessions. Paul Hammond is childsafe certified.
Piano lessons are offered from a once competitive pianist who took lessons for 10 years. English and Spanish help are offered, from a double major in college who is now a teacher.
I offer a very laid back environment that is conducive to all learning styles. I do not want any of my students to feel as though they are being pressured so much so that their joy of learning is stolen. Under my instruction, lessons can and will be very rewarding. I am available to provide both piano & voice instruction at my home on the upright piano that I used as a child & teenager.
I am available to work with children or teenagers, beginner to intermediate. Lessons are $50 for an hour or $25 for half hour. I encourage half hour for beginners or students who perhaps are busy with other activities. For students who are committed to piano and hope to continue pursuing piano for years on a competitive level, I recommend an hour lesson. Some students choose to have a lesson every other week instead of weekly. I am flexible to your needs. I teach theory such as scales, chords, arpeggios, time, intervals, etc. I typically use the Piano Adventures theory and lesson books, especially for beginners. I also like to have a "fun book" that allows students to have a song to learn that they might be more familiar with. New in Fall 2018: "Mommy and Me" music classes offered to age 4-5. I would love to hear more about you and what experience with playing piano (or other instruments) you might have. I look forward to talking to you more!
I offer voice and piano lessons in my home or local church I specialize in teaching playing by chords. All ages are welcome. I also play and sing for weddings and other special events. Please contact me for more information.
My goal is for the student to not only learn, but enjoy each lesson. Having a countdown play until the next lesson is what I go for. Students get a full musical education as they dive into the lives of composers and create art and poetry inspired by conversations during lessons. Theory is hands-on rather than homework. Students do not simply get piano lessons. They receive so much more. I defy you to find a more complete experience!
