About

I took voice lessons with Bobbi through the West Bank School of Music, and she was awesome! She really helped me build my lower vocal range, my breath support, and my improvisation skills. She also encouraged me to find my own voice in songs and build jazz musicianship. Bobbi is great, and I would work with her again if I moved back to the twin cities!

About

Ron Ferlito is an outstanding voice instructor! He really got me singing within just a matter of a few lessons. I started with absolutely zero prior singing experience or knowledge. I really thought it would be just a waste of time to even try getting voice lessons. I've always thought my singing voice is so incredibly bad, there is no way that an instructor could do anything for me. HOW WRONG I WAS! I was lucky enough to be referred to Ron Ferlito for voice lessons. Ron Ferlito is an amazing voice teacher. He showed me the basics, and he has been showing me how to use my voice musically, just like a musical instrument. Ron Ferlito has a wealth of musical knowledge and experience and he knows how to explain it to a beginner in a way that makes sense and gets results. I highly recommend Ron Ferlito for voice lessons to anyone who is a beginner and curious to know whether they can actually sing. Ron Ferlito will get you singing! Ron Ferlito is also an amazing and gifted piano player and teacher. My wife is taking piano lessons from him and she has gone from zero knowledge of music to playing some simple Christmas songs in just a matter of a few weeks! How do you do it, Ron?! About me: I am a 40-year-old man who has played guitar for 20 years. I have always wanted to learn to sing too, but I never had any success on my own. I told Ron that I want to learn to sing well enough to play/sing at open-mic nights. Before I knew it, Ron had me singing at one of his recitals. What an awesome experience that was! Bottom line: if you want to learn how to sing or play piano, or both, regardless of whether you have some musical background or not, sign up for lessons with Ron Ferlito. He is very reasonably priced. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. Ron Ferlito is also a very friendly guy who is easy to get along with. You never feel embarrassed when you make a mistake around Ron. His attitude is always supportive and encouraging. I just can't say enough good about him because I'm so grateful to Ron Ferlito for helping me to find my true singing voice.

About

Laura Hunter is a wonderful teacher who specializes in both piano and vocal lessons. She has many years of experience and is very observant of her students abilities in singing and playing the piano. She knows how to make learning enjoyable and is also able to discern whether the material is too easy or too difficult for the student. She provides the right amount of challenge in her teaching that enables the student to stay motivated and interested. She is always pleasant with her students and has a very positive upbeat personality that makes learning fun. She takes time to explain musical concepts properly so that her students will understand and grow. She is very perceptive and doesn't jump too far ahead or let anything go over your head. She is patient and works really well with children too. She also has 1-2 concerts a year where her students are able to sing/play what they have learned in front of family and friends. I've had other teachers before and Laura is by far superior to the others. I took voice lessons from her and my voice has gotten so much better, I am happy with my results! I highly recommend her if you are looking for a voice or piano teacher for yourself or your children.

I've only taken two lessons but I like Michael's very obvious and abundant knowledge, his patience, his personally prepared learning materials, and mostly his sincere enthusiasm. I have been playing guitar for over 45 years and he has already showed me NUMEROUS ways to improve and my own motivation has been reinvigorated. I like that. He's a great guy too. I wholeheartedly recommend him for guitar lessons.

About

I had Mary as my piano instructor for two years, I took a group class with her as well as private lessons. Even though I was in a class of over twenty other students Mary made sure to see how I was progressing as well as checking in on other students. In my first 9 months of studying under Mary I went from having absolutely no piano experience to being able to play pieces such as Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise by Beethoven, Prelude in D flat by Chopin, Rondo alla Turca by Mozart and any other piece I could want to learn. The best part of studying under Mary is she does not just teach you how to play a piece of music, she gives you the tools to truly understand the pieces you are studying. The way she teaches doesn't leave you with the ability to play a few songs on the piano, if you decide to study under Mary you will be taught how to become a pianist. That is the best thing about Mary no matter what level you are at studying under her will help you become a great musician because she doesn't just teach you how to play songs on the piano she teaches you how to become a pianist. No matter your level Mary Wagner is the piano teacher you want to teach you how to play this instrument

Tom is a very honest coach and will tell you exactly what your doing wrong and right (if your doing anything right.) The exercises he uses will help develop your voice and make it stronger if you practice and dedicate yourself everyday. The sessions are all recorded and put on a cd that way you know which exercises to go over and you're able to hear what you need to improve on as well. I have felt improvements in my voice and the way I use it. By the end of this year I should have developed my chest voice and will start performing, recording music, and maybe doing some drunken karaoke ;).. But overall he's a great coach and working with him will only improve you as a singer, keep you motivated and it also feels good to know your taking a steps towards your dream.

Tina was an excellent accompanist! She always followed my singing and she was always available to practice and to attend voice lessons and any performances. She accompanied many others as well and still found the time to work with all of us while juggling schools work and her own instrument. It was a pleasure working with her.

About

I provide guitar, bass and voice lessons, music theory and college prep music, business and tech. I am the one for you if you are looking for quality music instruction and need a flexible schedule. I do not accept more than six students at a time and do not book lessons back to back; therefore, the lesson pace is more leisurely. More often than not, the lesson time exceeds the half hour or hour allotment (incurring no extra charge). Since I do not teach privately for a living, I can be more flexible than most studios regarding scheduling. For example, I like to book each lesson by appointment with the client; that way, we can both be sure that the client has had enough time to work on the home assignments. Lessons can be every week, every 2 weeks, or every 3 weeks depending on the level of difficulty. Generally with beginners or young students, the lessons should be frequent for the sake of retention and reinforcement (weekly or every 2 weeks). It also is very effective to have the parents attend the lesson (for very young students). Even if you do not consider yourself musical, you can help the child remember what is taught and what is assigned. With the intermediate or advanced students and most adults, I find that they can be "self-taught" to a greater or lesser degree. These students can be given an assignment or concept at one session which they can then apply for several weeks or even months until they are ready or have the time for a new concept. I am sympathetic to the demands of career and family made upon by my adult students, and I realize that in most cases, they are looking for an enriching hobby, a recreational experience, or perhaps a creative and therapeutic activity. The study of music and/or an instrument is all of these, provided that the goals and tastes of each individual are taken into account. I started guitar at age 10 and was professional by age 15. I grew up playing by ear and playing rock and then went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and graduated cum laude with my BA in music education. For 40 years, I have been a "gigging" professional guitarist and bassist in numerous, in-demand general business bands and as a soloist for weddings and such. I have played literally thousands of events of all kinds. I have also been a sound technician, conductor, arranger, agent and music producer. I have taught professionally for 30 years as an instrumental, choral and jazz band/music director, building several fine music programs that continue to this day. As a professional teacher, I am certified and have fingerprint clearance in three states: AZ, ME, and MA. I believe in playing by ear, learning to read music and understanding some music theory. Musical literacy is the ability to efficiently articulate your own ideas as well as communicate expediently with others. I am grateful to be from "both worlds", and I believe that this enables me to relate well with many more kinds of music students. I like having 50% of the ideas for private lessons to come from my students and their joy and passion, while the other 50% will be pursuing the standard training and the path of a true musician. I hope that I can help you on your musical journey! Music instruction and courses include the following: * acoustic and electric guitar lessons * electric bass lessons * music theory, harmony, and arranging * contemporary improvisation * recording techniques and demo production * sound reinforcement/midi/guitar synthesis * college and career counseling * ear training/listening analysis * audition tapes for college, festivals and competitions * music theory and history AP testing * music history and appreciation courses * band leading and the music business * youth music ensembles and programs

For over 40 years, I refused to sing despite a deep and abiding love of music. I believed the cruel person who told me I could not carry a tune. I was so convinced of it that I would never sing aloud, not even when I was alone. But always, I wondered if singing lessons could prove differently. By the end of my first lesson with Anna, she had reassured me that this was something I could do. She has been warm, kind, and supportive, not to mention truly professional as a teacher. Never once has she criticized. Rather, she gently corrects and patiently guides me to help me improve. Three years later, I have conquered that long-held fear with her help and managed to sing in two recitals. With Anna’s encouragement, I sang a single song in a coffee house filled with more strangers than not. A year after that, I sang seven songs in a private recital for friends and family at my home. I have no expectations of ever being a great singer or even always singing on pitch, but Anna made it possible for me to finally know I can sing. For that, I will be always grateful.

About

I was an exchange student in the states a few years ago, and Sommar was my voice and piano teacher. It is not always easy to adapt to a new place, country or culture, and I found great support in Sommar. I had never taken voice lessons before, and was a bit insecure when it came to singing solo, but Sommar made me feel so comfortable and I felt I came so far. I had taken piano lessons before, but I was not comfortable with my first teacher. I felt she would sigh every time I had to play new pieces, and that only made me even more nervous. But when I started taking classes with Sommar, it changed immediately, and I really looked forward to her classes, and I learned so much. She is such a patient, talented, sweet and loving person and a wonderful teacher. Sommar is an amazing pianist and singer, and makes music fun and delightful. She would still be my teacher if I lived in the States!! And she is still a dear friend of mine. I can only give my best recommendations. Thank you Sommar.

About

Voice lessons are my specialty. For almost 20 years, I have worked with singers of many levels and ages - from children, to adults fearing they are tone deaf, but hoping to recapture the joy of song, to pre-professionals preparing for a career in music, to professional singers who are experiencing vocal challenges. I excel at disarming bad habits and making singing technique the effortless slave of authentic expression. I have a Masters in Music Performance (voice), as well as many years of study under masters in various genres, and have performed in concerts, opera, musical theater (legitimate, straight, belt), barbershop competitions, club jazz, and studio work, and have also created and performed my own one-woman cabaret shows. Each year I continue to evolve and perform. Some students come for a few lessons, learn what they needed, and move on. Others come for months. Still others stay for years. It depends where a student is when they arrive, and what they want to accomplish before leaving. I addition to private lessons, I offer group classes which allow students to learn material not easily covered in the hour lesson format, and to reduce the expense of material which can be learned in a group format. I also teach the language of music through beginning piano.

t was a real joy to take piano and voice lessons from Ms. Nijole McClusky for almost 3 years. My passion is opera and I always wanted to sound like Pavarotti. Well I discovered I am no Pavarotti but she helped me with some fun songs and even a few Lithuanian tunes (My grandparents are from Lithuania). As a busy doctor she was always accommodating to work around my schedule and encouraged me to visit many cultural events. My regret is moving to Florida and unfortunately I have not been able to find someone like Ms. Nijole. She is one in a million!! Dr. Edward Kondrot http://www.healingtheeye.com

Nina gave our children private voice lessons. It was their first experience with a coach, and she far exceeded our expectations. She was very patient and worked hard to engage with the children during lessons. I was very impressed with her knowledge about acceptable safe ranges for our children and proper training techniques. Nina was always prompt with the lessons and an excellent communicator. We would highly recommend working with her!

I provide two services to my students: first, ***vocal coaching/teaching***. Second, ***songwriting lessons***. (I speak Spanish for those more comfortable with lessons in Spanish. Hablo castillano - podemos communicarnos en 'Spanglish'). For voice lessons: I focus on inexperienced to moderately experienced singers that are trying to better their vocal abilities. I teach Speech Level Singing (SLS) technique. I am also happy to help my students learn music theory as part of their lessons if that is what they desire. For the most part, you as the student have the opportunity to guide the lessons according to your goals. For example, "I want to sing better" or "I want to have more confidence in performing", or "I want to learn to sing this specific song", etc. If you aren't sure of your goals, no worries. I will help you. I have taken private voice lessons since 2007, both by SLS master teachers, as well as professional and university vocal teachers. I studied vocal performance and music theory at Brigham Young University (BYU) Idaho. I enjoy kids and teens and am eager to help all my students learn to love music and singing at an early age. You can either bring a song you would like to learn, or I can assign you a song within a genre of music that you enjoy. For songwriting lessons: Besides being a voice teacher, I am also a songwriter and independent music artist. I am currently in the process of producing my debut album, and am so pumped to teach anyone that wants to learn more about songwriting! Finally, my pricing is super reasonable and I am always willing to work with people's budgets. So please, reach out to me for a quote! I look forward to hearing from you

About

My children have been taking piano lessons at Kirk's Studio before it even became a studio. Kirk has grown this studio to be a very exciting place to take lessons of all sorts. Since he moved into the studio, he added to his piano lessons many more opportunities. He has started show choirs, guitar, violin, cello, voice lessons and more. He has helped create awesome Rock Bands who have competed in Rock Band competitions and played at the Rock n' Roll Marathon. The studio has expanded from the Scottsdale location to Mesa and Desert Ridge. The Showcase performances are amazing every year and something that even those who don't participate would enjoy attending. Kirk is very creative and continues to come up with new ideas every year. He makes all the kids feel so special! All in all even though the lessons are more costly than others, the opportunities and the quality of lessons are worth the price. It is a one stop shopping kind of place. AND the owners are AMAZING people to boot! LHolgate
