Very professional service. Cordell came out to inspect our home for termites on a Saturday; very accommodating considering we work weekdays. Service was scheduled and completed by Tuesday. I would definitely recommend Environmental for all of your pest control needs/services.

Very quick response and very reassuring! He came out to see the problem within an hour of talking to him on the phone. Took the time to explain what he was doing and why. Also took the time to educate me so that I could reduce my chances of having the problem recur in the future. Bill was so great with this emergency extermination that we will be using Naturzone for all of our future pest control needs. In addition, his prices were very reasonable.

We hired Green Home about a month ago. They were here right on time and have very reasonable prices. I have not seen any pests since they came to treat for scorpions, earwigs and normal house spiders! It is awesome! The best part is if I do happen to see any pests they come out and treat in between services at no charge. I have recommended them to everyone looking for a pest control company. Thanks for the great service guys!

I bought a home in Mesa AZ and quickly found out we had a scorpion and pest control problem. I asked my neighbor who they used for scorpion pest control and they recommended I call Orange Pest Control. I called and set an appointment for the next day. The technician that came to my house was very knowledgable and told me each step they do to gain control and kill scorpions. He told me he services many other homes for pest control in Mesa AZ and a lot have scorpions. I am happy to report that I haven't seen a scorpion or any other pest for over 6 months now and am very happy with Orange Pest Control.

Christopher is awesome. My old pest control company used to call me to remind me it was time for a pest control service, well, when they did come out they would be gone in 5 mins. And it seemed the prices kept going up every time they came out. Christopher talked with me on what my needs were and thoroughly went over what I needed and how often he needed to come out. We agreed on a price and schedule and has been working ever since he started. I highly recommend Christopher for your pest control service.

Hopper Pest Control is simply the best. They do not charge to inspect your home and give you an estimate and offer a complete inside and outside monthly service or you can call them whenever you want for whatever service is needed as there are no contracts. Hopper stands behind their services 210%. Their technicians are prompt ,professional and courteous. If you have pets, the chemical they use is very safe for use around household pets. I have a Pomeranian who is sensitive and allergic to many things and he has had no problems since Hopper has been treating our home for the past year. For those of us on a tight budget, Hopper's services are very reasonably priced and the 12th service call is free! I can't say enough about them and I hope for your peace of mind you give them a call. You won't be disappointed!

I am a realtor and use Responsible Pest Control for pest emergencies that arise. The staff is always, prompt, reliable, competitive and I consider them a very valuable part of my team. Darin has come in, met crazy deadlines and saved the deal, more than once. We also use them as routine service when the occasion arises and they are great. They stand behind their services and honor their warranty when needed. I love this company!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.
