3 lessons already and singing has been much more fun! She is positive, honest, personal, knowledgeable, and a great resource! She's taught me to sing more naturally and how to perform and I'm glad I have the opportunity to learn from her! She certainly has a knack for developing this beautiful art in her clients! Thanks Jan!

Learning from Richard is awesome. What I love is how he focuses his lesson on you specifically rather than his other students. He's very open to working with different styles of music and has a classical/opera background, which he uses to demonstrate, so you know he's well versed in the craft. He really takes the time to explain to you what he's trying to get you to do and why, so that you understand it. It never feels like you're just practicing blindly. Since starting with him -- I've only had two lessons as of this review -- I've found that my higher notes, when I'm singing recreationally don't feel as strained they did before and singing lower notes has felt significantly easier. I'm excited to see how working with him will develop me as a vocalist. And the best part is, because he keeps his prices low, I'm never concerned that I can't afford to keep working at it.

If you're looking for someone to seriously help you expand your vocal abilities in a healthy and creative environment, look no further than Rena! She is absolutely lovely and wonderful at what she does. I began singing at a very young age so I've had my fair share of vocal coaches and I can honestly say that she is the best by far. I've not only learned more about how my voice works but I've grown in ways I never thought possible. She truly cares about her students and will never fail to help you understand all of the possibilities and improvements. She is honest and very conscious about making her lessons specific to who you are as a vocalist. Her technique is unique to each student. I highly recommend Rena if you are serious about your voice and training!

Rickie is a fantastic voice teacher. Not only did she help me produce a clearer and more refined tone, teach me how to breathe effectively, and correct my singing posture, as well as help me in various other technical ways, but she also was interested in whatever was going on in my life and was always fun to talk to. Rickie's passion for music is obvious in her teaching and in her own beautiful voice (that's another bonus - she often demonstrates). She challenged me with a range of repertoire but was always flexible and took into consideration my musical interests. I'm sad I moved to another city; if I hadn't, I would still be going to my weekly lesson! I'm now in a collegiate a cappella group and look forward to continued vocal progress, thanks to this wonderful teacher.

In ONE lesson Marquita had me singing 3 octaves with a minor third above that. I was amazed; in my younger days I did have the three octaves (no minor third, tho) but as I got older I lost the ability and had lazily settled down to mezzo soprano range. She really knows the vocal instrument and has helped me conquer some of my breathing and performance problems. I find myself singing a lot more - even some solos at church. She turned me on to singing again - not bad for a 71 yr old, huh?

I am 57 years old (no Spring chicken) and came to Thomas for tenor sax lessons. My purpose is to perform and record sax solos for classic rock and blues. Thomas does a great job with understanding my goals and giving me a road map to achieve them. Very patient and intuitive.

Alex is amazing. I'm new to playing drums (but not to playing music). From the first lesson, Alex gave me exercises that were not only fun to practise, but also musically interesting. He teaches by introducing a student to great beats, not by getting bogged down in theory and technique. That said, my technique is definitely improving ( and Alex himself is a technically impeccable drummer) coming as a byproduct of working on enjoyable exercises (its not unusual for me to end up practising for two hours). In short, Alex knows how to drive home core musical foundations while keeping it fun. Alex is also a fun, friendly and personable teacher. I'll admit that he was not the least expensive quote I received on Thumbtack, but something about his methods and personality told me to give him a shot. I'm so glad I did!

Michael is an amazing teacher. Not only does he do a great job at explaining various techniques, but he also teaches the physicality of drumming, which has been very helpful for me. Within a few lessons I was reading music and playing actual songs. He's also really patient, and when I have a hard time grasping certain stuff he will turn it into an exercise. I've really enjoyed my time learning the drums with him!

Grace was just what we were looking for when planning our company party. We hired her violin and guitar duo, and their music was perfect for our setting. They played beautifully, and Grace was very professional when working out the details beforehand. We highly recommend her for any party or event you need a violinist for.

Howard Richman is not a piano teacher...he is a LIFE CHANGER. I went to him to learn piano...but realized that the lessons I learned studying piano with the MASTER were not merely lessons in music....but lessons that helped me see outside the paradigm in all areas of my life. Often, as adults, we "come back" to our music...to study what we have been "wanting to get back to" for years. I learned that this is often a time of great change and evolution for us personally. Howard, being so intuitive, knows how to tune in to each individual's needs.... and empower them to EMPOWER themselves. He is a BRILLIANT pianist, composer and master teacher. I've watched him perform miracles with young children who struggled with other teachers who simply wanted to teach "by the book." Howard is always able to find your inner talent and abilities, possibly that are even unknown to you...and he can creatively, intuitively and intelligently create a course of action that will leave you amazed! That's why you are reading SO many wonderful comments here about him. If you are lucky enough to get to study with Howard, it will change your life!...and btw, I can now play a mean Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata"....Thank you for everything you taught me Howard Richman! Both of my children have been taking lessons with Rachel for the past 3 years and she's been awesome! My daughter takes singing lessons and my son has been taking saxophone lessons, and they both love it! She's really professional and fun to work with. It's also been nice that she teaches a lot of instruments so we can have one teacher come to the house to teach both of the kids one after the other. I couldn't recommend her enough!

Michael has a very straight forward approach to teaching. Whether it was answering a technique question or developing new ways to manuever around the set, each lesson consisted of my thoroughly learning new information in a practical and very efficient manner. Being a percussionist myself, we naturally have good rapport with the language we communicate with. Michael's way of personal interaction alongside his instrument is certainly one of the best forays into any practice and study of music, for those just starting or already proficient.

Just what I was looking for in a jazz piano teacher! He listened to my goals and is crafting a teaching strategy to make me a better musician while enjoying the process. Looking forward to more piano lessons in the future. He also teaches saxophone.

Jazzly is the best music teacher I've ever had. She's reliable, attentive to my playing in order to point out bad habits and other things that are invisible to me, always integrates music theory when appropriate and does well to explain it simply without sacrificing any clarity of content. She's incredibly skilled as a musician which itself is inspiring, but unlike many other skilled musicians, she's actually able to articulate what she's doing and explain it clearly in a way that lends itself to being learned. Could not recommend her as a teacher more, it makes the difficult trek and initial learning curve of the violin much more easy to grasp and accessible.

My daughter Shavanie has been with at SoundCheck for about two months. First off I must say Dan & Electra are very friendly and down to earth people. My daughter does Vocal & Piano lessons with Electra, she is one of the best music coach my daughter has worked with so far...... I am amazed by her progress. She also does Guitar lessons with Josh, who is also amazing...she is finally enjoying her guitar :) Since my daughter has been with SoundCheck she has shown more excitement towards music vocally and instrumentally. I can't thank them enough! :-) I truly recommend SoundCheck, you will not regret it.

I have worked with Bob on various levels. First, Bob provided me with private guitar lessons for several years. Bob made the learning experience fun and enjoyable. I was able to learn and play the kind of music that I wanted to play. Bob is also very patience (staying with me for so many years is a true testament to this!). My youngest son Michael also took private guitar lessons from Bob. On a more professional level, Bob and his band performed at my oldest son's (Bobby) wedding receipion. It was a "blast" with all of the guests dancing and singing. I actually received a call years later from an attending guest asking for Bob's contact information for their wedding reception (obviously they had very fond memories of the event and Bob's music). If and when my 2 remaining kids get married, I can guaranty Bob will be going the music. He makes an event a real party!!!

Emily has been teaching our daughter piano for several years. She has a warm but thorough style of teaching, emphasizing fingering, dynamics and pedal right from the start, so that now those things are all just part of the music my daughter sees on the page. I've been very happy with my daughter's progress as a musician and she always looks forward to seeing Emily.
