I am an experienced pianist, accompanist, and vocal coach; currently semi-retired at 60 years young. I studied classical singing at a voice studio where I also accompanied other singing students for many years. Throughout much of that time, I have taught Piano and Voice privately in several different cities in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. My conservatory training has enabled me to provide my singing students with a study classical foundation; and my experience as a musical theater accompanist and a lounge pianist has empowered me to teach pop-contemporary styles of singing to interested students. Although I enjoy teaching piano as well as tutoring students in music theory and composition (my emphasis at the conservatory), my strength lies in training of singers. My singing students develop their potential in the styles of their choosing -- and receive quality piano accompaniment in the process. References are available upon request.
Mary has been teaching my son for 3 years now, and I cant say enough how thankful I am. She is a fantastic teacher, highly knowledgeable in music, amd very patient.
Most clients enquire as to which model I teach from, or which style of instruction I employ, I tell them none, because no student is alike, and no one's talent is the same. I instruct for th purpose of learning. I modify my lessons and means of instruction for each student. Each lesson you take will be personalized to you as the individual, and the day.

What a gift to have Kayla teaching our child piano! She's incredibly talented both musically and as a teacher. She brings joy and excitement to each lesson and moves our child along at just the right pace. Kayla has brilliantly empowered and motivated our child to practice, play, and even do a little composing of his own! Thanks to Kayla, our child's piano playing and understanding and joy of music have excelled far beyond our expectations.

I'm creative and cater to my students goals. I am also a Guild Teacher for the national association of piano teachers.
I am extremely professional and I focus on teaching, first and before anything, the basic concepts of music theory to ensure the student (whether a child or an adult) has the necessary tools to approach any type of music. I've seen in many music studios that music teachers rely on imitation rather than knowledge, as a result, the student does not acquire the necessary abilities and grows dependent on the teacher.
I have been teaching voice for over 30 years. I have taught high school through later adult years. I have students who are singing professionally around the area and students who desire to improve their singing. I am interested in having students who wish to work each week. I have been a professional singer for over 50 years. I have also been a musical director for several musicals in the Bay area as well as in Summer Stock and Los Angeles. My job is to teach singers how to be self-sufficient by giving them tools that are lifelong.
