We've been working with Lisa-Beth for several months now. She is tutoring my 13 year old daughter in writing and it has been a stellar experience. Lisa-Beth is professional, communicative, thoughtful and inspirational in her approach. She gives real value to my daughter and has expanded her view of writing as a medium of expression. Thanks Lisa-Beth!
My son needed a tutor for his freshman year college English Composition class. Before hiring Carl, I had tried a couple of tutors, but didn't find them to be competent. Carl was a very pleasant surprise; he is both very knowledgeable and engages well with my son. I like the fact that he does't merely correct him and gives him answers, but makes him think and analyse the material. He is a rare find.
We highly recommend Lois For tutoring. She is well known in Honolulu and has years of experience. She tutored our granddaughter when she needed to take the entrance exams into private schools. Lois has great knowledge of children and skill in getting them to do their work. Her lessons were challenging and fun. Our grandaughter could hardly wait to return to her next session. We wish Lois was here to tutor our grandaughter in her college SATS. Carol Lehman
I am so thankful we found Jeff!!! We had worked previously with a different SAT tutor who clearly didn't know what he was doing. Although Jeff was priced higher than some of the other tutors on Thumbtack, I wanted to see if spending a little more would make a difference. It did - we just got the scores back, and my son raised his score by 400 points! I cannot recommend working with Jeff enough. My son loved having him come to the house. We will miss Jeff, but I hope others can have the type of experience we did. You won't regret it!
Daniel was very professional and went above and beyond to give the tutoring help I needed in a somewhat obscure math topic, which included him spending time researching and working through the problems before the tutoring session to ensure that he could answer all of my questions. I would recommend Daniel to anyone looking for a quality math tutor who invests himself in your success. Thanks again for all the help Daniel!!
Elite Home Tutoring is amazing! They are personal and professional. They have helped me with numerous term papers and research projects while I was working on my bachelor's and master's in psychology. Elite's tutors are expert's at planning, writing, and editing papers. They helped me investigate and design many research projects. I highly recommend them!
I really learned a lot from Daniel. He clearly knows a lot about the topics he tutors in, and knows how to explain it in a way that's easy to understand. His demeanor was calm and is very easy to talk to!
I would definitely pick Arbor Tutors over an individual because you get good management and reliability and quality assurance.
Sarah is very helpful and she makes difficult subjects very easy to understand. I've had a number of tutors and she is by far the best one.
I am a professor of mathematics and the supervisor of the Math Tutoring Lab at Los Angeles Valley College. Reza is one of the best tutors I have met on any campus I have taught at including University of Utah, Cal State Los Angeles, and numerous community colleges. Reza has tutored at LA Valley College for the past 9 years. Overall he has tutored for 18 years. He is commonly the tutor I hear praised most often by my students. They tell me that not only is his mathematics excellent but he is very clear in his explanation and very supportive with his attitude. He makes my students want to do more math because he makes it very comprehensible for them. Reza tutors Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus and Statistics. He is the standard I hold up my other tutors to. He shows up on time, teaches very intuitively and my students walk away from each session with him feeling better about themselves. As a person, I find Reza to be a wonderful role model who volunteers many hours each week at the tutoring lab, teaching math to many students on campus.
Two things stand out about Matt’s tutoring. Beyond knowing the material up and down, Matt really focused on my daughter’s needs, both for the strategies on the test but also managing the anxiety and stress. And after an unsuccessful stint with one of the tutoring companies, she is so happy with the progress she made with him. Her SAT score went up 240 points!
Rachel helped fine tune my mathematic skills. She was patient and went on my pace while working with me. Her challenges were within my zone of proximal development. Each lesson, I acquired a valuable skill. I was able to place into Statistics with her help and I highly recommend her to students who want math tutoring. Her rates are fair and she makes tutoring personal for her student to achieve his goal.
Cindy Chanin understands the testing and admission process like no other. She has an extensive professional background and helped us navigate the high school admission process for our daughter, like a Ninja! Cindy invested her time and energy into our daughter and took it upon herself to get to know her. She was able to decipher what kind of learner she was and which of her tutors would be a good fit for her. For the weeks that we worked with Rainbow EDU, Cindy called everyday. She wanted feedback about the tutoring sessions and wanted our daughter to feel confident and empowered. Cindy is a student advocate and coach. Much, much more than a tutor. This is a full service operation...the real deal. Cindy Chanin...Rainbow EDU...I just lucked out...hope you do too!
Good tutor! My child likes the way she works with him
I have a horrible science teacher but I was able to get excellent help from an Arbor tutor. Best tutors around. Fantastic deal.
Fantastic service. All the way from the manager to the two tutors we used.
I was having a very rough time with calculus. It was the third time I took the class. I contacted Arbor Tutors and they provided me with a wonderful calculus tutor who is able to explain everything very patiently and fill in the gaps that I had. Excellent service. I wish every company was run this well.
After a couple less-than-stellar tutoring experiences via Thumbtack, I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Sol. My tutoring needs were somewhat unusual: after a 10-year hiatus, I needed to reacquaint myself with high school math in order to pass a placement test into a college-level calculus I course. Far easier said than done. Sol was up for the challenge, and knew just how to tackle it. After I had diligently dug out of my old textbooks from my parents' garage, Sol offered an anecdote about his dear friend and and former Cal-Tech college roommate when he was confronted with modern-day high school math. (Sol, you see, is not only an incredibly savvy tutoring professional, but also a retired JPL scientist--and a thoroughly interesting, thoughtful and personable man to boot.) As Sol's anecdote helped to illustrate, the scope of high school math has evolved in recent years, in ways even the former president of Hughes Aerospace, in a moment of complacency, would fail to appreciate. Pre-Calculus theses days focuses much more on the interpretation of graphs, and introduces concepts such as solving and plotting the inverse of linear and fractional equations, which wasn't even taught when I took the course circa 2000. At Sol's request, we set aside my old textbooks in favor of modern coursework that he provided. It was a few months later, at our last lesson, that I was able to truly appreciate how much Sol cares about his students. In his office, I happened to glance at a computer window where Sol had a folder with my name and files charting 'Goals', 'Progress' and 'Notes'. Sol's hard work and investment in my success paid off: on my placement test I scored a 98%--surpassing the score I had needed for calculus I and placing me into calculus II! As Sol predicted, the test had focused quite extensively on those more modern facets of pre-calculus that he had taught me. Now in calculus II, I feel utterly prepared, and only have Sol to thank. *Highly* recommended.
If you want the best of the best, Todd Frost is the tutor to hire. My sixteen year old son has been struggling with math since middle school. I have literally spent thousand of dollars on tutoring programs that didn't work. I wish I would have found Todd back then, but better late than never. Thanks to Todd, my son is now on track and feels more confident in his current Geometry class.
We been lucky to have her as our daughter tutor for more than a year, and we are strongly recommending her for all you tutoring needs.
John has been working with my 8th grade son for some time now. We are so very lucky to have such a kind, patient and understanding tutor. My son was having difficulty understanding his "common core" homework, he would cry because how difficult it was for him. His confidence was at a low. I couldn't help him because I also was very confused by most of it, I felt terrible. John helped clear the fog in my sons head and practiced the steps in a way that my son would understand. He would use examples that helped my son visualize the problem in a different way than what was on paper. Which helped my son solve the problem more confidently. My son is very timid and was always nervous to say a wrong answer or ask a question, but John made him feel more confident with figuring out a problem and asking questions if he needed more explaining. John is a wonderful person, it's a bonus that he is also a tutor. He knows the busy family life style. He is always very kind to my younger children that often enjoy interrupting him as he tutors my oldest. He is very flexible if we need to reschedule our sessions. He understands that things come up. I don't know what we would have done without him!
