I am 57 years old (no Spring chicken) and came to Thomas for tenor sax lessons. My purpose is to perform and record sax solos for classic rock and blues. Thomas does a great job with understanding my goals and giving me a road map to achieve them. Very patient and intuitive.

I took private adult saxophone lessons from Richard for almost one year. Thanks to his guidance, I started with almost zero know how to playing pieces like Desafinado, Take Five, and Peter Gunn Theme with excellent tonality. He has his own unique style of teaching that really catapults you to success quickly within a short amount of time. Regrettably, I moved up to San Francisco so will be unable to continue lessons with him. Highly recommend him for private lessons

I wanted a teacher that could work with an older adult who not had piano lessons since childhood. After many years, I wanted to challenge myself by getting back into piano and I wanted to bring music back into my life. I was a bit nervous about making the commitment and about the time investment that would be required. I also didn’t know a good teacher so I asked around. Howard’s name came up. He was recommended as a patient and knowledgeable teacher that would do wonders with students. Howard’s approach is not the conventional one that I experienced as a child. He presents many types of approaches and uses lots of tools and techniques to build your skills and understanding of the structure of music. Now, I’m stretching myself to learn, remember and apply these skills and it feels really good! I actually enjoy practicing my piano. Now thats a testimony to Howard’s influence! If you are looking for a teacher that can accommodate your needs, encourage and inspire you, meet Howard and try him out. I’m confident that you will be very pleased with him as a professional and as a teacher.

For my 60th birthday, I decided that I would finally learn to play the saxophone, forty years after I gave up the clarinet. I have been taking weekly saxophone lessons from Fay for about nine months now, and will continue to do so. Fay is a very patient and encouraging teacher. She has taught me some music theory that I had never learned before, as well as the mechanics of playing the tenor sax. In addition, she is a talented improviser, and her love of music is always apparent. Lessons consist of a nice blend of scales and exercises, along with some very satisfying pieces of jazz and classical music. I recommend Fay without hesitation or reservation.

Both of my children have been taking lessons with Rachel for the past 3 years and she's been awesome! My daughter takes singing lessons and my son has been taking saxophone lessons, and they both love it! She's really professional and fun to work with. It's also been nice that she teaches a lot of instruments so we can have one teacher come to the house to teach both of the kids one after the other. I couldn't recommend her enough!

My 8-years-old daugther has developed a passion of learning a wind instrument, flute in particular. Last year, we met with Ms. Cheryl at a music center and my daughter really loved her teaching. We have been having a private flute lessons with Ms. Cheryl for more than a year. Ms. Cheryl is assertive as well as providing a positive and nurturing environment. She is not only talented but also manage to create a fun but challenging lessons for kids. I can see the improvement from my daughter. Most importantly, Ms. Cheryl is a member of MTAC, so I was really happy that my daughter was able to enroll into Certificate of Merit this year. Ms. Cheryl understands that Certificate of Merit is an important program for her students. Overall, I would highly recommend Ms. Cheryl as a flute instructor because of her professionalism and good teaching attitude.

I started taking lessons with Toby about 5 months ago. I had been taking lessons for about a year and a half with another teacher after a 30 year hiatus from seriously playing flute. I have made tremendous progress with Toby. She is patient, yet pushes me to improve in all aspects of my playing. She is also teaching me music theory which none of my other flute teachers taught me. My flute lesson is the highlight of my week.

I studied with Toby for most of my high school years. She is fully engaged and dedicated to her utmost capability of teaching her students, improving their musicianship, technique, and educating them with her passionate attitude. She is very serious in regards to a holistic musical education, immersing her students into learning not only how to play the flute but understanding theory, sight-singing, and musical notation by enrolling her students into Certificate of Merit. She is loving and caring towards all of her students to the point of where I consider her much more than my high school flute teacher--she was a mentor and a grand-mother figure. If it were not for Toby's guidance, I would certainly not be the musician I am today. I currently hold my degree in Music Performance from California State University, Long Beach and opt to make my career playing this wonderful instrument. She is by far one of the best flute teachers in Southern California.

Both my daughters have taken lessons with Lynda since there were seven years old (they are now teenagers). In asking my daughters what they like about Lynda they talk about the friendship that has developed over the years, of how Lynda knows their strengths and weaknesses and adjusts the lessons accordingly. While Lynda has lesson books she works from with the girls, she has also be open to pop songs the girls want to play, knowing it keeps the girls interested. The one critique I have of Lynda is the lack of a yearly recital. The first years we were taking lessons there were the annual recitals, but there has not been a recital in several years. It would be nice to have the recitals back.

The two years that my daughter has been taking piano lessons with Elite Musique piano teacher, Kelly, has been nothing but a positive experience. My daughter's favorite aspect is preparing and performing for the company-organized open mic nights. As a parent, I have been impressed with Kelly's knowledge and professionalism, her genuine attention to my daughter's advancement in piano (and voice) skills, and the performing and testing opportunities.

    Kelly DeSarla Flute

I have basked in the musical brilliance of Kelly DeSarla performing flute on multiple occasions -- on theater stages, in big concert halls, at exclusive private parties, and in churches at weddings. One of my favorites was hearing her play in the orchestra for the enchanting phenomenon called "The Drop That Contained The Sea" by Christopher Tin, with the Angel City Chorale. I have also heard her play lush and complex jazz, traditional Irish folk music, and 1940s standards. In her spare time, Kelly is also the musical director for her own chamber music trio. So not only does she have a Masters degree in Classical Flute, she also has a wide range of experience performing different genres of music. Her performances are both technically proficient and also deeply soulful and expressive. In addition to being an accomplished musician, Kelly is also a gifted actor who has been performing for decades, and she is able to translate the emotional journey of any piece of music into the glorious sound that soars from her flute. If you need a flutist to perform or record for any project, or if you want to take flute lessons, you'd be blessed to hire Kelly.

I knew about Leah's background and credentials. But now I know about the results, with my daughter! My 12 year old seemed a little unfocused and lackadaisical about growing more dedicated to the music she played and to her instrument. I watched how Leah's nurturing manner and kindly expressed expectations caught on with my daughter. Within a few months she was playing at a notably higher level, and not dreading her lessons & rigorous practice schedule. I give Leah the highest recommendation!

We found Bray Ghiglia for our son's clarinet classes on this website. He's an amazing teacher, patient, was able to find a good approach to the student. Within 10 months they covered a regular 2 year program. Thanx to Bray our son moved from the beginners group to the advance level at his school orchestra in a rather short period of time. He also teaches flute, piano, violin and guitar, all at the high level! Absolutely would recommend this great teacher!
