Excellent experience. It was more than quoted because I didn't want to buy the disposal myself. He told me that if he bought the disposal, I would have to pay cash. I appreciated the notice, but I still didn't feel like going to the hardware store. Bruce was on time and thorough. Turns out that since I didn't replace the disposal for a month, bacteria had taken residence in my drain. He offered to show me, but who wants to see worms in their drain? My husband verified it, that was good enough. Bruce replaced the disposal, cleaned and flushed the drain, corrected shoddy work that previous plumbers had done, and recommended preventive measures to keep the bacteria away. Done and done! I appreciate his detailed work, professionalism, and pricing. We will definitely call him to do the plumbing in our kitchen and bath renovations. I recommend him highly.

Juan snaked out an old shower drain for us. He worked efficiently and was very good about cleanup. He kept in touch the whole time he was on the way to our house. So nice to have the shower draining!

We had a backed up drain in the kitchen sink in our rental, and when I called Kecko Plumbers only the evening before at 6:00 pm, they were out there the next morning on a Saturday at 10:00 am and cleared the drain for the exact price they quoted over the phone. They didn't charge "extra" for a Saturday call, and they were prompt and arrived at 10:00 and cleared it. They also, at no extra charge, ran a camera down the drain, gave us the results and offered a service that would make the drain like new for a fee, which we declined at the time. But Sergio was professional, courteous, and honest.. He made the offer at the end for the additional service and when we declined, he was gracious about it. Great plumbing experience. Thank you, Sergio!

Domingo from All In One came right out for what I thought was a clogged exterior drainage pipe. He tried to snake the pipe but it was completely blocked, possible from roots of a large tree that had grown right up next to the drain. Domingo could not clear the line so did not charge me for the visit. Great customer service. He provided a detailed written quote to trench and run a new line. All In One was very courteous and polite. I would call them again.

I had an entirely positive experience with Frank Bernal and James. They cleared our main drain and made sure that the household drains were functioning. They were pleasant and careful and cleaned up so that there was no residue work for me--much appreciated. They quoted in advance (many won't) it was the best price I saw offered and they held to their quote--including to come back if any drain was still slow. I asked them for business cards to share with friends.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but this companies outstanding services compelled me to take the time to share my experiences. I have home owners insurance, and initially used their approved plumber to address a loud noise and leak coming from my outdoor spigot. They came in for 5 minutes, then stated everything was normal. That was $75 bucks down the drain. I hired Tyler with Temecula Drain Surgeon, and he was an absolute godsend. He was able to fix the spigot in less than five minutes. Since it was such an easy fix for Tyler, I started to find more challenging things he could fix. I have a RV that had issues with the drain connection that he also fix in less than 10 minutes. At this point, he had won me over, but just as a bonus, I wanted to see if he could fix a gas leak coming out of my gas grill. Within 30 minutes, he and his son had that fixed and running like new as well. Unlike the first plumber that was hired, Tyler is not just looking to meet a quota for a company, he genuinely cares about the concerns of his customers and will try his best at solving any plumbing issues at a fair price. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to re hire him for any of my plumbing needs.

This is not intended to be a bad review. It is an honest one. Brandon was excellent! He was friendly and personable. I have nothing negative to say about him or the service he rendered and I thank him. He represented his company in a positive and good light and does credit to his employer. As far as the value is concerned? I believe the price given was misleading. Usually the word "total" when used with the words, "$89 total price," denotes what it says and implies actual value regardless of any further writings otherwise it is pointless to make the assertion unless it was intended to entice. Had I known it would double in price when he arrived, I would have checked with other plumbers for a better price. Given the $89 minimum service charge, I could not see me paying him to leave and get someone else for less. I look at it from a simple viewpoint: it took 38 minutes to clear a blockage some 4 feet away or so. That cost me $175 and that was with a $40 discount for being a new customer. So, the misleading $89 total amount should have read "$215 for previous customers. Or, if you are a new customer, $40 off of that $215 price. I would have bypassed that offer and gone with the one in Murrieta who told me he would unclog any drain for $85. I thought choosing a company closer to my locale (Lake Elsinore) for only $4 more was a better idea at the time only because of distance and time. However, the offer was false and misleading and I fell for it. Now, don't get me wrong. The service quality was excellent! It was the false advertising which hooked me and trapped me that I take exception. Would I use their services for my home again? Probably not even though they are very good at what they do. They are simply way too expensive and I don't like being deceived. I just know that the same services can be had for far less with many other plumbing companies.

Edgar arrived at the exact time of the appointment. He was friendly and professional. Our toilet had not been replaced for 10 years so there was a lot of clean up of old grout in the drain hole and I needed a new hose and a seal ring too which I was expecting. It took him about 2-1/2 hours (it was a mess) but I felt that his quote for the work wasn’t enough for what he did. He definitely went above and beyond and I would call him again.

Gregory was right on time and even brought booties to protect my wood floors! While he could not mount my dishwasher drawer, he gave me some tips and insights and offered to come back to mount it when I got the proper brackets. I asked about a problem I had w my drain creating a smell, he offered tips on how to eliminate it. He said adding an additional trap would not solve the problem. So, I wasn’t able to hire him but I hope if I need him someday he’ll be available!

I called another plumber with a lot of good ratings and they told me they were busy. Would we like to make an appointment for tomorrow? It was only 3pm and we had a hissing leak under the house. Still the best I could get was, let me tell you how to shut the water off and we can be there tomorrow around 10am. So we called Prudential plumbing. Prudential said they would be there as soon as they could, probably by 5pm. Mark from Prudential arrived about 4pm, nice surprise and he went right to the leak. There wasn’t going to be a quick fix because he said he had to torch the pipe and the low spot meant he had to drain the water. After some procedures to remove the water he went under the house and replaced the pipe. Then he went back under again to sanitize the area. When he finished our water was back and our toilets worked again! I complimented Mark about the repair and asked how he arrived so quickly after I called. He said he was about a mile away with another customer and our emergency needed service. He still had more work there the next day. We offered Mark a tip but he said he wouldn’t take it this time. He said it was enough that we decided to live so close to his other customer. Our bill wasn’t the lowest I’ve seen but Prudential’s service was maybe the best and they were fast with a response. I think its very true what Prudential says on their web site.

Great work, they repiped the entire house with copper and replaced the drain, installed a new water heater on a 70 year-old home with 110 degree outside. Miguel Telly, the plumber, and his crew did an excellent job. Bobby, the supervisor, was responsive and accommodating. And the price was great.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
