Scott and his crew did a fabulous job of repairing our leaky winery roof. We had over a dozen leaks and depressions in our roof due to water damage that all needed repair. Scott got all of it fixed for an extremely reasonable price. The work required removing many roofing shingles and the plywood underneath in order to replace many of the components. I waited to write this review until after it rained. We experienced 2 small leaks which Scott was promptly there to fix. I believe all is in order and highly recommend Scott for any roofing needs. There are few like him.
You know how they say when it rains, it pours? Well... El Nino Rains plus our 30+ Year Old House equals ROOF LEAK. We needed a Roofer. We got three referrals here on Thumbtack. Of those three referrals, it was obvious that Erik Havens and his Advanced RoofLeak Solutions business was the roofer we should go with. Doing our own research on the referrals, we found that Erik's business Advanced RoofLeak Solutions Inc. is definitely a licensed contractor whose contractor's license is, yes, actually for roofing. The state contractors database confirms this. Also, we noted that Erik's roofing business is an "Inc." meaning his business is incorporated as a corporation. We liked that because to us that meant Erik most possibly had a smart stable business. The state corporate database confirmed his business' active corporate status. As for Erik himself, don't let his youthful looks make you wonder about his experience. This 30 year old guy knows his stuff. Roofing runs in his family. Erik has been working in roofing since high school. My impression is that Erik knows how to run a quality roofing business. He is very respectful and honest when dealing with his customers. And he takes pride in his work and is thankful for his customers hiring him to do the work. We never met Erik before. But if you talk to him for a while, then you may see the same forthright excellence that we see in Erik. So, what did Erik do for us? We had a leak in the roof. This was for the roof on top of the garage for our 30+ year old house which has a red tile roof. Erik went up onto the roof with his ladder and immediately pointed out a row of tiles that were sliding down opening up an exposed area where the rain came in. That exposed area then affected an 8-ft by 8-ft area. That effect was obvious to us from inside the garage looking up at the underside of the roof where we can see a big wet stained area. Erik's work included disassembling the tiles for that section on top of the roof, putting in new underlayment material, applying roof mastic sealant, and then reassembling the red tiles back in properly aligned rows. (And there were lots of hammer pounding and other loud noise while he was working up there on the roof.) And afterwards, while he was still up there, Erik additionally checked the rest of the roof, he resealed any vent pipes (and whatever else) that needed new sealant, also checked the stability of the sun roof up there, and looked for any other potential problem tiles that could possibly be sliding out of place. There were a few other tiles beginning to slide down a bit. Sliding tiles seem to be a typical potential problem for old tile roofs. Erik secured those few other tiles pushing them back into place. Erik said the underlayment for those few other tiles was still fine. One other thing that Erik did was to clean out the gutters and make sure they were secure. Yes, imagine that: a 30+ year old house with gutters that have never been cleaned out until now. One of the gutters on the second story roof was full of leaves. Erik cleaned that out. So, Erik did a really complete job and more! My impression is that Erik is a busy roofer who is in demand. In my conversations with Erik while he was up on the roof, with myself watching him from down below, Erik mentioned how the El Nino Rains and Winds have been bringing him so much business going his way. (My guess is that this was even before El Nino as people wanted to secure their roofs in time for when El Nino arrives.) Yeah, Erik is apparently very very busy. Meanwhile, our neighbor was also looking up watching Erik and was apparently interested in also hiring Erik to work on his roof, and ended up having their own conversation as to when Erik would look at the neighbor's roof. So, Erik is apparently a busy guy, who does quality work, and is in demand. He works on roofs all over San Diego County. He goes wherever the work is located. If you are considering whether to hire Erik, we would strongly say that based on our experience to give him a call or to send him a message here via Thumbtack. Also, definitely give him your phone number and your address so he can figure out when to schedule a visit to actually look at your roof in order to give you a proposed written estimate. Erik's proposal for fixing OUR roof was a good reasonable fair price. My suggestion is to NOT go cheap in repairing your roof. The two other referrals that we got from Thumbtack would have been cheaper and would have undercut Erik's proposal where one thumbtack referral was from an unlicensed roofer who was not in the state contractors database and the other thumbtack referral was from a solar guy whose contractor's license was for electrical. For our roof, we were willing to pay a little more for a quality roof repair by a licensed experienced roofer (whose contractor's license was actually for roofing) and we expected the roofer to stand behind his work. And we indeed got a qualified licensed experienced roofer in Erik Havens and his Advanced RoofLeak Solutions business. Thanks Erik.
Hector and Roofer Hero were excellent. The quoted me the best price for my shingle replacement, started right away, got all the permits, dealt with the notoriously difficult Laguna Breach building inspectors, and finished when they said they would. Best of all - the City inspector said that it was one of the best jobs he'd ever seen. Not only was the work very high quality, but Hector even painted all the metal flashings to match the shingles. Highly recommended.
We hired Tom after obtaining two other roofing estimates. The other companies told me we needed to replace the entire section of my roof which would cost thousands of dollars. Tom came out and found the problem and fixed only a small section and we saved a substantial amount of money. He was on time, friendly, honest and a professional. We hired him again after our roof had another leak in a different area one month later. We will not hire anyone else but Tom. His knowledge is superior and his work ethic is excellent.
Yep. Julio Carillo is officially our Roof Guy. Our case: fix the leaky parts of the roof and install elatomeric coating for energy efficiency (1800 sg ft) We were trying to pick out 1 of 3 companies that we had quotes for (2 of them were large name companies) . The prices were very competitive and it was hard to tell who'd do a better job. We decided to go with Roofing & Waterproofing because smaller companies need more job opportunities than the large ones. Besides, Julio's first impression was very pleasant and he really knew what we needed his help with. On the day that he came out to do the job, he brought a crew with him and finished within one day. We were thrilled! I had to wait for a VERY HOT DAY and a VERY RAINY day before giving this review and luckily both happened within a month. The house stays cool even when the sun is blazing outside and the leaks are GONE! A new leak was found during that rainy evening, but it was NOT PART of the house that we had asked them to service. It was a SEPARATE unit. Julio came out on a Saturday, quoted us a very reasonable price and fixed it on the spot. What can I say, we can't believe the luck we had in finding this company and with the quality of their work. Our Sincerest THANKS to you, Julio! Keep up the good work!!
David has done a lot of work or me both constructing a small apartment off my home, revamping several things inside my home and quite a bit of electrical work and solar as well. He has worked several weeks for me doing different projects. What I like most about David is he tries his best to give you want you want rather than what he wants. He is extremely pleasant to work with and reliable. I highly recommend David and I can't think of anything in particular that I would tell him to improve.
Working with JL roofing was better than I would have ever dreamt of. John was so on the ball as far as staying connected with me online and working out a schedule that worked for me. He was prompt to come out and give me an estimate. He broke down the whole roofing procedure in terms that were simple and easy to understand. During the whole project if ever I had a question he was always just a phone call away. He never gave me the run around and always was available to address my questions and concerns. The team John sent to work on the roof were just as friendly and knowledgeable as John himself. They showed up on time if not earlier than expected every day and didn't take any unnecessary breaks. They worked on this project as if these homes were their own. I could not have asked for a better team to work on this project. I would recommend this roofing company to anyone who needed work done professionally and promptly. I will be keeping their contact on file for my future projects and so should you!
After our homeowners insurance dropped our coverage due to repair needed on our roof, I called Above All Roofing. Not only did Travis provide a free estimate the same day, he was professional, knowledgable and courteous. Travis did excellent work exceeding my expectations and all for under $500!
they were very polite efficient and did a great job besides reroofing patio cover with rolled roofing they replaced six sheets of plywood that were dry rotted and the extra worked was covered by initial contract.
Jeff has worked on several projects for us and it appears there's nothing he can't do. He's done electrical, plumbing, masonry, installing an oven which included woodwork (adjusting kitchen cabinets to fit new height of oven). Jeff is very amiable and easy to work with. He is meticulous in his work. Our next project is painting.
After a phone chat, I sent Mr. Duin an e-mail outlining the projects I had in mind. I asked him to help me select those that fit into my quarterly budgets. Together we selected three that needed attention this winter. 1. stabilize a wobbly 6 foot block (gate) wall that was inches from a gas main, 2. Build a short block wall that would hold back dirt from a muddy embankment, 3. Reinforce a swaying wood fence and wrap metal posts with cedar – box style. Mr. Duin and staff did an outstanding job of listening to my needs. I was impressed with their work, quality of materials, work ethics and attention to detail. They were very pleasant to work with and I look forward to our next round of projects. I hope to include the trim/molding (with up lighting) along the ceiling of my front porch which will have to wait until early Spring – due to budget considerations.
We did windows and doors, bathroom remodel, painting, fireplace mantel and hearth, lighting, roof repair....we practically did a whole house plus some outdoor work including, deck, artificial turf and patio. The best part was I trusted Brian and his crew absolutely..they had keys to the house and I didn't have to worry about being home for them to be able to work. Would heartily reccommend them and their work.
Mr. Wes Shope is and has a very kind and professional demeanor and is extremely polite, considerate and accommodating to his customers. Wes responds quickly to left messages and/or emails. His quality of work and attention to detail is exquisite... I find his service and value to be unparrelled and I personaly recommend his company to my family and friends if they need a true craftsman to his trade. G. Castro Irvine, CA
