Highly recommend! I've had three other roofers out to inspect my ceramic tile roof and provide me with quotes, Scott was the only one that did a thorough inspection and he even took pictures of what needed to be repaired. Scott's quote was more than reasonable- a fraction of what other's would have charged. Scott completed the job the next day and showed me pictures of his repairs. Great guy...amazing job!!!

We recently bought an older fixer upper and Jose has helped us with several jobs. He removed popcorn ceiling, texturized, put in new drywall and pot lights, did painting, installed floor tile, and is now tiling my new shower. He has a lot of overall construction experience and brings important knowledge to the job. His work has been quality and looks really nice. His pricing is very competitive and he is responsive and easy to work with. We had a few last minute delays on our end getting materials and he kindly rescheduled several times. We are going to work with him on some outside hardscape and fencing as well. We highly recommend Jose and his team. (I will add some photos soon)

Erik was by far one of the most professional service professionals I have ever worked with. He came on time, with a smile and a business card before he walked through my door. I had to have a couple of concrete/clay tiles repaired since my son decided to throw something off our balcony and crack them (the joy of toddlers). I also did not want to spend an arm and a leg. Erik entered with a fair price and accomplished the work in less than an hour. He also discovered other issues we had with our roof and will be emailing me those images. Overall, fair price, super nice guy, and very professional. Would definitely recommend

We have had a leaky roof for over a year. Three other contractors have tried to repair it. With each subsequent rainstorm not only did the roof continue to leak but in more places than before. We hired Ponds Handyman Services. We were immediately impressed with his extensive knowledge of tile roofs. He showed up on time, worked hard and made the agreed upon repairs. I am confident that he has solved our problem. He is professional and very reasonable in his pricing. I will hire him again for other projects.

Robert sent over his guys, Patrick and Chris, for our kitchen demo and we thought they were awesome. They were on time, polite, very neat, and even honored our request of preserving a couple of pieces of our old granite as well as our tile floors which we plan to keep. It was a pleasure working with them and based on our experience, we would recommend them very highly.

I found Pat on thumbtack & so far he has installed walls, doors, tile, paint, cupboards, replaced termite damage wood, stucco, roofing & electrical. Not much he can't do as far as I can tell. Next he is pouring a cement slab for us & hooking up our new spa. He is a very conscientious worker that strives for perfection in all that he does. He is a great problem solver & fantastic at coming up with less expensive solutions for us. He is a delight to work with very eager to please us despite my high expectations. I highly recommend him!

Nationwide Secure did the tile flooring and sink installation for my bathroom. By far, they have been the most responsive and professional company out of all contractors I have hired. From time of thumbtack post to job completion was one week, and throughout, Nationwide Secure was straightforward and an overall pleasure to work with. I could not be happier with my finished bathroom. My initial bathroom setup was a bit awkward, but Robert did some creative work with the tiles to make the finished product look good. During the work, there was also some dry rot on the walls that he removed free of charge, just to do a thorough and complete job. The end product was stunning. Thanks Robert!

I hired Ranferis for exterior paint job. I have a large house with clay tile roof and a second floor. He managed to climb over the tiles with minimal damage and paint and repair the second floor wood beams and eaves. He also replaced the broken tiles at his own expense. He is professional, responsive and courteous. He gave me the best price and value among several painters, and did more than he promised. I would definitely recommend him.

Very impressed with this company!! From start to finish, their communication and their customer service was amazing. Every time I called the office, all of the office girls were super nice and friendly (Claudia, Teresa and Diana)! Our Project Manager Rigo was very knowledgeable and took his time to explain all the details. The roofing crew showed up on time and did an awesome work! We got a lift & relay with a power wash. Our tile roof had a lot of moss on it and now it looks brand new. Definitely made a big difference on the look of our home. Thank you Roof Masters for the wonderful experience and superb workmanship!

Chuck Dorgan transformed a bedroom in our home into a beautiful bathroom. He built a glass block shower with a mud set tile floor, and installed a beautiful whirlpool tub with a tile surround. He also installed a new toilet and sink, including new plumbing., and built a closet into the wall This new bathroom completely transformed our home, and we would highly recommend Chuck for any remodeling needs!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
