The tree trimmers were at our house at 7:30 am, which we appreciated them being there earlier then schedule. We have vinyl siding which they placed boards over so it would not get damaged. They got right to work they did a outstanding job. Our tree was very big and they did an excellent job of thinning and trimming it. They cleaned all the little limbs and loose particles out of our lawn and cleaned our driveway. My husband had no extra clean up to do. Cannot say enough about their tree service. As an added note when the owner came to give an estimate he was there exactly at the time he said. Thank you to Juan and his men.

We hired Quality Tree Care to remove two palm trees in our back yard. The work and cleanup they did was very professional. The only complaint we had was them giving an arrival time and then showing up 2 1/2 hours later. The amount of work they did in the heat of the day was great and the price was very reasonable. The crew was very courteous, and Omar was very responsive to our calls.

Roberto completed an overhaul of our front, back and side yards. He did an excellent job especially since the house hadn't been lived in 8+ months. He pruned really high palm and plum trees, along with removing several iteration trees and shrubs. Roberto also rewired and fixed our sprinkler system. We'll definitely continue to use his services for lawn maintenance upkeep and would recommend him to family and friends. Great job Roberto!! Kesha M.

We bought a new house with a yard that had been neglected for quite some time. We contacted Valley Vista to remove a palm tree and rose bush, lay new sod, lay down rocks in other parts of the yard, replace our watering timer system, replace the old valves, and install a new drip irrigation system to water the new lawn. In other words, "completely replace everything in our front yard." I spoke with 5 different landscapers and went with Valley Vista because Gilbert seemed very knowledgeable and able to identify key issues and options. His expertise and advice was very useful in a variety of situations. He helped steer us in the right direction with drip irrigation in our sandy soil. He also offered great advice on how we could reroute our front yard irrigation to the back yard so we stop using water for our back yard that comes from our house and uses up water from our water purification system meant for the house, not the yard. He also helped us decide on the best kind of rock to complement the overall look of our grass and house. Gilbert and his team did an excellent job of installing everything listed above and making sure it was all in working order. We love the new lawn and would gladly recommend Gilbert and Valley Vista to anyone in this area.

I hired Tarra Villas All Treez Service to cut down the palm tree in the side yard of my rental house. They answered my questions quickly, had the best quote, and available to do the job. They also cut the broken branch of old peach tree at no charge when I asked them, which is a good customer service. They cleaned the place nice after the job is done. Overall, excellent experience.

I would recommend Lake County Tree Service to everyone. They gave really good, fast service with a crew of well trained guys and huge modern equipment. It is a family business with dad and 3 sons and several other helpers. Dad has been in the business for years and years and has trained his sons well. Our place is a "nightmare" for tree many neglected tree limbs over the house and fire hazards everywhere. They went all over this property with many trees and cleared for fire breaks and to make them safe for winter winds. The trimmers are artists with trees and know so much about the health of the trees. They found beetle infested trees, rotted and dead trees and removed them. As they worked, dad always explained what they were doing and why, and asked what I wanted They are real pros - climbing effortlessly up huge limbs that could not be reached from the lift bucket. They were very careful over the roofs, solar collector and yard areas. They would lower big log sections with rope, and they landed right where they wanted them. The crew worked so well together...... very interesting to watch them work. Real pros. And...... they put all the brush and tree limbs in the chipper and hauled it away, and stacked the wood in piles. They also did the fine cleanup after that using a blower, rake, etc. and left the place cleaner than it was before. They worked from sun up to sun down some days and charged a very reasonable price for all those hours with a large crew and very modern equipment.... and they are licensed and insured. I have had other trimmers over the years, but none could compare to Lake County Tree Service. They are truly amazing!

Tomas trimmed our 25' tall hedge down to a manageable 15'. It was very difficult on the slope between the palm trees and the pool. Then he had to go to the neghibors house to finish from that side. Blew off, raked up, and hauled it all off.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

    • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
    • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
