About

We offer the ultimate overnight dance training camp in beautiful mountain resort locations! ADTC's dance training camps are open to girls ages 8 to 17. Dancers of all levels and disciplines are welcome; no prior dance experience is necessary to attend! Our top-notch instructors bring to ADTC the coolest combinations from some of the best national and international dance studios, schools, and performance groups. Classes are organized by age and ability level, and instruction is carefully tailored to fit the ability level of each student, from beginners to experienced performers, with lots of hands-on help and individualized attention. In addition to ADTC's core jazz/funk and hip-hop classes, campers are exposed to a variety of dance disciplines (such as lyrical, ballet, and tap) during each session week. Each girl takes four dance classes per day, and at week's end, campers get to show off their new moves in a big Friday night performance for family, friends, and fellow campers. ADTC has four locations, all just minutes from renowned mountain destination resorts: Western Carolina University, NC, Squaw Valley, CA, Stratton Mountain, VT, and Winter Park, CO. Our unique locations mean that ADTC campers have access to all the traditional activities you'd want to enjoy at summer dance camp, as well as all of the amenities you'd expect to find at a luxury mountain resort. At ADTC, we have just as much fun outside the dance studio as we do in class!

Experience the gift of dance at Metronome Dance Collective. Formerly "Cheryl Burke Dance" and "Metronome Dance Center" before that, we've remodeled and re-opened with many of the same excellent instructors and new ownership. If the name "Metronome" sounds familiar, that's because you have probably heard of the original Metronome Ballroom that opened in at 17th and DeHaro in Potrero Hill in the early 1990s. That dance studio produced numerous high-caliber dancers, including several national finalists in the professional and amateur ranks. It also set the standard for professionalism and quality in dance instruction. You will find many of the dancers originally trained at Metronome Ballroom now teaching at the new Metronome Dance Collective. You can be assured that you will receive the highest quality of instruction in ballroom and partner dancing. We are committed to restoring and maintaining dance programs that are critical to the fabric of the partner dancing community and to the benefit of the broader San Francisco community. Stop by when you're in the neighborhood sometime, visit our website, or call to speak with our friendly staff. We look forward to dancing with you!

About

Veksler Academy of Music and Dance was established to bring exceptional music instruction to Sunnyvale, Mountain View area. In cooperation with our first-rate dance program, we offer a wide range of options for children to adults. Many of the parents choose the school because in addition to having excellent teachers and programs, it is possible to have one child in music lessons while another child is in dance classes. The beautiful air-conditioned facility features 13 music rooms and a spacious dance studio with floating professional dance floor. It is usually possible to get 2, 3 or even 4 different students in different lessons during the same time period. Many parents and kids are so busy that saving 45 minutes or an hour of commuting time per week between activities really helps the typical busy family's schedule. One of the unique features of the Veksler Academy of Music and Dance is that it offers private piano lessons for children as young as 3 1/2 years old. The school has developed a special approach to teaching these youngsters in a fun yet professional way. Children at this age learn how to play piano from their first lesson, then from song to song they learn how to express emotions through the music, how to make songs better, how to read notes and finally get their songs ready for a recital. All of the music teachers hold a university degree in the instrument they teach, and many have master's degrees. Some of the current teachers are completing doctorate degrees and are also on staff at local universities. The music school handles everything from 3-year-old beginners to extremely advanced, university level students. Due to the number of teachers on staff, the students are matched up with teachers that best meet their needs and who relate well to them. Music classes are taught in piano, violin, cello, guitar, flute, clarinet, saxophone, voice and drums. A large number of students choose to take the prestige CM test conducted by Music Teachers' Association of California. The main focus is on helping students gain the skills they need to enjoy music long after music lessons are over.

Danspace

About

Children are welcome at Danspace. Danspace offers dance for children beginning at age 3. Creative movement is recommended for the youngest children, who may then progress to ballet and/or modern dance or jazz. Children may study for enjoyment or in preparation for a professional career. Classes are small, gently structured, musically oriented, and age appropriate. Formal dance training begins at 8. Danspace instructors draw from extensive backgrounds in dance education and performance, and they are especially gifted in working with children. All instructors have studied at fine academic institutions. Serendipity is designed to introduce young children to the creativity and artistry of dance. Classes include work on basic motor skills, coordination, flexibility, rhythm, spacial awareness and design. Stories, games, props, and music of all kinds are used to inspire the imagination. Self-expression is fostered and self-discipline is encouraged. Class size is limited. It includes the following: * Serendipity 1: ages 3 - 4 (must be 4 to join spring semester) * Serendipity 2: ages 4 - 6 (must be 5 to join spring semester) Pre-ballet combines the free spirit of serendipity with a gentle introduction to the fundamentals of ballet. It is usually designed for ages 6 to 8. Ballet begins at age 8. Classes emphasize careful training of the young body and a solid foundation for further study. Students move through the levels according to maturity and technical ability. Pointe students are evaluated for pointe at about 11 years of age and must have attended two classes/week for 1 year in preparation. In intermediate and advanced ballet, three classes are required and four for advanced pointe work. Modern dance continues in the vein of serendipity, encouraging coordination, flexibility, rhythm and spacial awareness. The basics of modern dance technique, choreographic tools, and performing skills are introduced, accompanied by eclectic musical styles, rhythms and meters. Choreography 1/2 students are introduced to basic dance composition. We will learn tools and choreographic devices to turn our movements into phrases and dances. Choreography 3/4 students build upon their composition skills by working with sophisticated choreographic tools and devices. We also bring elements outside of the dance field such as music, text, objects, and the environment into our compositions. Modern jazz class emphasizes strength, coordination and style. A jazz movement vocabulary, including jumps, turns, leaps and progressions across the floor is developed into dance combinations. Students sample a wide range of styles, from Broadway to classical jazz and funk-inspired choreography. We also host ballerina birthday parties for groups (up to 15 children). You can use our space for your party!
